Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center is Sumner County's first arts museum of its kind and is an inspiring addition to the Greater Nashville Region's Arts and Museums community.
Portraits of Hope at Monthaven - Video Slideshow
Some of the most inspiration portraits in America came to Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center (MACC) this Summer. The exhibition "Portraits of Hope: Inspirational Stories from the Lovelady Center" ran from July 20 to Aug. 18, 2024 and featured 65 portraits of women and staff from the Lovelady Center in Birmingham, Alabama.
The Lovelady Center is a faith-based rehabilitation facility where women come to live for nine to twelve months as they recover from addiction, domestic violence, or incarceration. The Center strives to help women rebuild their lives and walk forward with faith-driven hope for the future and a renewed sense of self. The Center not only provides food, shelter, and clothing for its residents, but it also teaches women valuable life skills and how to overcome the barriers to success in their lives.

More than 300 Middle Tennessee kids gave their imaginations free rein at Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center’s 2024 Summer Art Camp. These MACC ARTY KIDS had 44 different art classes to choose from, allowing them to explore digital art, cartooning, painting, sculpting and much more.

The MACC’s first-ever summer cooking camp was held the week of June 17 at Nōssi College of Art and Design in Nashville. The immersive class introduced students ages 13 and up to such basic techniques as sautéing, grilling, braising and roasting. Interview with artist Bill Puryear

Artist Bill Puryear discuss his art with Cheryl Strichik, executive director of Monthaven Arts and Cultural Center. Puryear's art is on display through July 23, 2023 at the MACC. A true Renaissance man, the artist was a prominent businessman, philanthropist, writer and historian. His paintings often drew inspiration from Tennessee history. He passed away in February, 2023 at the age of 89.
