Hi Louise! I read Helter Skelter when I was a teen. It was my first true crime book. I still remember that the copy I had was a lime green paperback! Vincent Bugliosi also wrote crime fiction. I think he was a police officer before he became a lawyer. Don’t go blind from watching those frisky frogs in the pond! 😂Thanks for the catch up!

Hello Louise!!! I've just come into the house after spending about four hours sitting out on the front stoop, basking in the glory of warm, delicious sunshine, topping up my vitamin D and reading the last 100 pages of Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan which was wonderful!!! Oh I'm so delighted that you've picked up the first Jane Prescott book!!! I just read book four in the series which is at the moment the last one out. I hope that you'll enjoy it as much as I did ... but no pressure!!! Knowing how much you love spy novels I wonder if you've heard about the latest phenomenon recently released called Argyle by Ellie Conway?? The book has been made into a movie (of the same name) which is also out right now starring the delicious Henry Cavill. Fourth Wing was last years explosive debut ... or was that two years ago??? ... anyways, everyone was talking about it and at one time finding a copy in the stores was difficult. I've steered clear mostly because it is YA and I am ambivalent about that genre ... being old and all! For me THE dragon books of choice will always be the late, true mother of dragons herself Anne McCaffrey whose Dragonriders of Pern series brought me into the fantasy genre as a teenager. Classics! Might also recommend the Memoirs of Lady Trent books by Marie Brennan beginning with A Natural History of Dragons. Nice haul Louise!!! I'm hopelessly devoted to my books too!!!! Cheers!!!

Yay, a Louise book haul❤️. A death of no importance sounds very interesting to me. I don’t believe I’ve read many if any spy books, but I’ll give these a try. I’m trying to remember the Sarah Dunant book I’ve read. It was so long ago the title escapes me but i know I enjoyed it. I’m pretty sure it wasn’t one of the three you mentioned and I’ll be interested in your thoughts on them. Fourth Wing....I succumbed to the hype, which I don’t normally do, and it reinforced to me why I don’t. I believe if it wasn’t for the sex, this would have been labeled YA. I found myself rolling my eyes and sighing so often, I thought surely it was. I’m a relatively new fantasy reader, so surely no expert on the genre, but I don’t intend to read iron flame or any of the other books supposedly to come in this series. I think I gave it a generous three stars, primarily due to the dragons. In hindsight, it’s more of a two star read for me. Even with the dragons. But there are plenty of people who love it, so there’s that. Good thing there are readers for every book😊

I normally do not like spy books but I love The Slow Horses series by Mick Herron. The Jackson Lamb character is despicable and hilarious at the same time. They are great in audiobook and Apple TV+ has aired the first 3 seasons based on the books. So good and highly recommend.

Nice book haul! The Mick Herron book is part of the Slough House series which I have listened to on Audible read by Sean Barrett who has, in my opinion at least, an appropriately lugubrious style of narration. I used to read a lot of fantasy when I was much younger but not so much now. I don't know why and maybe that will change in the future. I've heard a lot of mixed opinions about Fourth Wing on booktube.

How wonderful! A visit with Louise and a book haul!! I, too, love spy books. Have you tried Jack Carr? He's a new fav along with Vince Flynn and Kenn Follett, of course. Slow Horses by Herron was a bit slow for me as a spy thriller ( no pun intended) . It's the first of a long series that I've heard gets better. I just finished The Fourth Wing. There was a bit too much romance for my tastes and the plot was somewhat formulaic, but it was a really fun adventure. Love the dragons!! (I now want one of my own 🙂🙃) It's an entertaining, quick read - a hard to put down book that doesn't require a lot of thought. Iron Flame had more battles and more explicit sex, so it was not as good to me, but I will read the next in the series. Thank you for sharing your bounty! So good to hear that the husband is still healing well. ❤️⚘️
