- Hallo!
Welcome back to my channel where I talk about the books I have read and new to me books bought from a charity shop.
The books mentioned are
Girl, Forgotten by Karin Slaughter
The Twyford Code by Janice Hallett
The Stone Circle by Elly Griffiths
various Mills & Boon titles
Death in Ecstasy by Ngaio Marsh, narrated by James Saxon
Hope you are well, see you next week,
much love
Louise
Going to try an Elly Griffiths from the library, and will keep an eye out for the Robert Harris. Thanks for expanding my horizons! 🤣
👍👍
I’m not sure about England, but in Australia we can borrow ebooks and audiobooks for listening and / or reading on kindle, so perhaps you’ll be lucky to get going with Elly Griffiths that way? If you wanted to get going sooner? I was introduced to her through The Stranger Diaries and The Postscript Murders and they are still my favourite. The Dr Ruth Galloway and The Brighton Mysteries are great though, I’m like you, I slowly collected the lot. When I’m in a slump she is one of the authors I know I can pluck off my shelf and I will definitely enjoy it.
You might try the first Elly Griffiths - A Crossing Place - from the library. That way, you can know more quickly if you will like her and it might save you searching time at charity shops. But, no Mills & Boone finds... so maybe not a good suggestion.😄
I highly recommend Daisy darker by Alice feeney it’s like a tribute to Agatha chirsties And then there were none ….. it really is a good book 💞📖💞
Like you, I loved The Appeal and read The Twyford Code on the back of that. You would travel far and wide and low and high to find a bigger pile of slurry. Dreadful. I did think of contacting the publisher to aske for my money back and was only stopped by the fact that the book was damaged when I hurled it away from me. Now, someone, with kind intent, has bought me her third book. It was a gift so I'll try it, with stout heart warmed by the fact that it could not be any worse than The Twyford Code.
Oh you made me laugh! Thank you. I can happily toss it aside. Much love.
I started The Appeal after seeing all the hoopla surrounding it. Felt like I was wasting my time when I could have been reading something else, so stopped.
Yes, my one foray into Janice Hallett (I'll not say which one it was!) did not end well, I thought it was utterly dreadful and couldn't understand how it made it to publication, so bad I thought I can do better than this and I never normally think that!
Love your videos. I've been reading Ngaio Marsh because of you. Thank you. Do you follow the Womans Prize? Have a lovely day. See you Sunday :)
Sadly, The Twyford Code does not get better. It gets worse. It's a mess, and the solution is completely ludicrous. Nothing like Agatha Christie.
Oh I agree. I really don’t want to read about teenagers as a rule.
