Perhaps some practice with care and release of the fish Mike. Lovely film and a lovely presentation
I do miss your videos they were the best flyfishing videos ever. Tight lines
I watched this many times over the years Mike! Thank you for your great vlogs. 👍👍👍
I'm a coarse fisherman, very new to fly fishing, I found your videos clear and educational, especially the knot tying demonstration, I'll be having a trip to Blagdon soon. Thanks very much
Very nice snake cast at 9:04
Nice fishing and nicely produced sir.
Love your fishing videos Mike …… you have a way about you that is very relaxing to watch ….. also I love your dedication to the buzzer fishing too
Was your hands wet when you removed the hook?
Oh dear, barbed hooks for C&R - guess a lot has moved on since 2012 - for the better in terms of welfare. The increased pollution everywhere we are still to deal with - Wye and Use foundation are doing a sterling job - what will the govt. do after the 'great shoot yourself in the foot exercise' that is Brexit remains to be seen. The govt. are pretty sloppy on most UK infrastructure issues unless it profits their transnational corporate masters. Thank goodness for the vigilance of Foundations, clubs, syndicates and the Angling trust. The float on top brigade - Kayak etc. contribute nothing of course and are unlikely to do anything other than exploit the river in their endlessly entitled way - until sewage discharge makes a few of them ill on a regular basis.
He didn't appear to wet his hands, the trout was flapping on rocks, he was slow to unhookand appeared to throw it back in. Otherwise ok.
nice vlog
Many thanks for the video, very informative and relaxing to watch.
Marvellous, what could be better?
A fish of one pound is a good one for the Wylye.
I've heard it's easy to catch a trout on the Wylye, just use a spinner.
Prat
@@tinabaker4662 what's wrong with using a spinner? I've caught loads of trout on spinners to 4lb.
RIP Stevie. A sad loss and too soon.
Probably arugulas parasites
Average life span of rainbow trout before being caught, 5 days
What a fucking nod
Brilliant.
Mike, Fantastically documented... you show exactly why people go fly fishing ! What waders are you wearing ? Thanks DJ
Wahhhh 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Why can't I get my leader/ripper out straight?
Looking to river fish later this year for first time can you give me some thoughts on kit I should look at buying. Like what to carry on vest etc. Also should I get a staff and retractor and what ones should I look at. And should I wear a life jacket and would s life jacket over my vest be ok
Hi Phil Difficult to respond here and would like to know where you hope to fish before giving advice. You can email me mikehobbs@proangler.co.uk. Best fishes. Mike
Looks like a great place and a very nice fish. Personally I'd have been inclined to release the first one especially as he played a merry dance. But that's just me as I've taken my fair share of fish for the bbq
I get that people mean well with their criticisms but surely putting a hook in its mouth and dragging it out the water by its face is doing it more harm than having dry hands?
0:38 Mike, you'd probably be under water if you were standing there today.
All these armchair experts banging on about handling. I wish they would get a life. Well done Mike
If you don't wet your hands the fish is liable to get a fungal infection where its natural protection has been damaged by dry hands. If you don't take the precaution of wetting your hands you are better off knocking it on the head and having it for breakfast.
bravo! im not seeing their videos eh!
Please make some more great videos Mike!
I have just took up fly fishing I find your videos very helpful and great to watch
Amazes me, that people comment on how easy it is to catch, comments like, put anything on, hardly any skill, would love to fish with you experts, I'm sure you'll bag up on first four casts. Enjoyable to watch, next to being there yourself.
A well presented and produced film, especially for free viewing on CZcams, so well done Mike. Best practice for fish handling is changing all the time and it wasn't that long ago that fisheries like this would insist on the fish being dispatched, so I'm not sure why so many people have felt it necessary to be so hugely critical. They obviously enjoyed it, or they wouldn't have watched it! .
I'm new to fishing and have used 8lb tapered leader to 8lb tippet and caught nothing could it be because my tippet is not smaller then the leader?? Didn't realise it was meant to be.
Not necessarily
Hi, My Grandfather used to live and Manage the Fishing, Lake and the Grouse. His name was Owen Hughes and that is where my Mother was born.
they took the river over the second they realised they could rip people off to to fish it
Sadly happening in ireland now of late these horrible yolks charging 160 each euros a day for a group of 5 min driving around in range rovers thinking they are something else when they are only just conmen
Nonsense
Play the fish on the reel! Why hold your rod so high?
To keep a tight line to the fish.
You could put anything on for stocked trout.
Stocked trout will eat a orange :)
Not so.They can become as difficult as wild fish when they have been subjected to fishing pressure. Wild fish can be easy in lightly fished water.
I admire Mr Hobbs. He is so well organised and calm and enthusiastic. This is my sort of fishing but after 50 years experience I am still a shadow of skill that Mike has.You never stop learning about fishing and that's why, after all this time and one or two fishI still love it. Thank You Mike
Mike exudes enthusiasm about our sport. Unlike some other similar video presenters he is not endlessly hauling fish out but is more like a real angler with ups and downs. Most importantly, enjoys every moment on the water.
This is a most instructive and helpful video on my favourite water.Thank You
Ruined tail is unmistakable evidence of hatchery raised trout.
This looks like a place to catch Atlantic Salmon. I've never met an angler with such astute knowledge of land, water, animals and fish as you...Best wishes to you.
I'm drooling about chalk stream fishing...the best in the world...You have it!...Lucky man.
Very informative at a relaxed pace
good video
You need to cast and move, Brownies are territorial.....I’ve fishing this water and if you can find them there’s some decent (2lb+ fish)
Where u from
+Mike Hobbs Your videos are amazing. Will you ever be focussing on making your on videos on youtube? I know it's a long time gone but you'd easily get 1000's of subscribers with weekly content.
HA well I have to tip my hat to you for sticking it out well done horrible weather nay good far man na beast I enjoyed watching you though thanks it was informative,
What are you lot moaning about wet hands etc. If it weren't for paying rods these beautiful streams would be polluted dead sewers. Be practical for goodness sake!
timairglider doesnt justify wrong handling of fish. Id rather see no fish in polluted sewers than dickheads thinking they know what theyre doing. Now piss off back in your glider knobrot.
