Dušan Holý - Piano
Registrace 2. 01. 2007
Hi and welcome to my channel! You can find - of course - various piano-related videos here. From studio recorded high sound-quality records, live recordings from concerts to just "for-fun-random-home" videos... Music from somewhere around 1650 up to contemporary and more.
In case you don't orientate in classical music and would feel a bit lost, try some playlists which I've made...
I don't lick academical nor snobbish asses and neither any others, except maybe my girlfriend's - if that was her wish. (But no gf atm. So...)
I do my best to keep this channel / my videos ad-free.
Always, thank you for watching and mainly listening..!
Peace!

Rediscovering the WTC by J.S. Bach - Prelude & Fugue in g - BWV 861
Today, I've spent some time around the G-minor key. Not sure if I played this one as a kid but most likely I have... The Prelude fitted nicely to this morning's rainy mood...

Rediscovering the WTC by J.S. Bach - Prelude in d - BWV 851

My "piano-super-enthusiast" friend Tom from Delft who collects tons of sheet music, he gave me last week some new books, including a very nice Urtext edition of "Das Wohltemperierte Klavier" by J. S. Bach (Könemann Music Budapest). So, after like 20 years, I am rediscovering this short little baroque treasures which I used to practice soooo much as a kid-prodigy and then, later on, again at the...

it's the joint for me haha. wonderful playing!
for me Preludiums are excellent exercices for equality and fingers strength
When I’m watching your hands I’m thinking immediately on Valentina Lisitsa 🤯 well played!!!! 🎉
Well... I never liked her and especially after she declared her "loyalty to Vladimir Vladimirovič". But I don't wanna get dirty here with politics... I know you mean your comment as a compliment so thank you..!
So which BWV will be next? Let's see...! ..... You can "tip-me" with your favourite-ones!
bravo grande dusan
I am not that "grande" - never reached 170cm - army-doctors at the 2-years-army-recruitment (which I never attended due to my studies and later, they "professionalised" the army), they measured me 169,5cm... Ehm... you know. Thanks! Appreciated.
Magnífico!!!👏👏👌🤗
Obrigado!
Paul Barton plays piano for elefants. I play piano for pigeons..!
I think I was 6 when I heard my first "techno" and it was Switched On Bach. Suddenly Bach was palatable.
Heh... had no idea there was such a boom of "MOOGization" of Bach, but on the other hand, does not surprise me... Just watched Bernstein video from New York Philharmony - where he introduces MOOG during the "Young people's concert". Nice to see him sitting there on the chair, being highly impressed by that cupboard-size wired-oscilo-something machine. :) 1969
Learning this one for a baritone who have exam on june. Is very tricky to learn all the right notes
Good luck to him (and you too). I am gonna play it now upcoming 3 weekends. But not exams, kind of "private salon concert(s)". So no exam-stress involved here. We just enjoy this nice music.
Rowan Atkinson (as the Black Adder) once said: "Young man = young idiot" True..!
❤️
Great! The tensions need to be broken! Otherwise WE will live in a eternal Nightmare ! Always ahead, that's life❤
i am hearing here marco mencoboni playing french suite BWV 815 in harpsichord 😮. and your idea about "breaking rules" came again to my mind....take a listening to his Interpretation and ornamentation....
@@luisemiliobolsoni3831 Beautiful... listened to some of these "staircase-coridor" films... nice indeed!
Time to break some rules... because rules were made to be broken...!
There was a comment-request: "Could you play some Bach for us???" ... well.., yes, I could. I think so.
That was me!! Now I am satisfied❤❤ many thanks.
@@MikaelLandmark Nice to hear. "Stay tuned around", I may add some more.
Hope you get somewhere man, love this content
I believe we all "go somewhere", don't we? (About my channel... I don't do youtube to get fame / for "marketing". I do youtube for fun (when I am in the mood and have free time for it) I am probably getting old - still believe that the real life is happening outside internet).
Beautiful Schumann, Coffee and 🌿, don’t need anything else
Maybe just the singer is still missing here...
Deschumannisation in process...
It's awesome bro!
Thanks... All these Schumann songs are highly enjoyable for the pianist.
"Beautiful Strangers" - I wonder whether Schumann would succeed today with such a name...
Gonna play lots of Schumann now in May...
What a wedding gift for Clara Wieck (Robert gave this 26 songs cycle to her on the day of their wedding - September 12, 1840). That's what I call "a romance"!!!
Re-opened the book after a few years. Going to perform this at some concerts to remind my Conservatory piano teacher. RiP František Maxián. (You can find a full version of the piece in my standard long videos.)
Can you play some Bach for us?❤
There are Bach videos in my long standard videos section. I especially recommend you the audio-video-montage where I play 4-harpsichords concerto all by myself. That was super-fun. Made it during covid pandemy, with a help of my friend punk-super-smart-sound-engineer. Just browse my long videos. There is more... But I could add something here to shorts as well. Let's see.
... this is how you make your piano "out of tune"! Pieter??? Oskar?? .... where are you guys? ..... Ahhh.. good! - "Always ready to come and tune it / service it". (As long as I cook something super-tasty to "pay-back".)
Go and make the world better than as we know it!
Do they sell these anywhere? Asking for a friend
Hope you won't be frustrated (looking to your nickname :) ), but I can't say. I don't know. For sure, my friend Pieter does not wish to sell this one and he has only one. And if you can buy such a thing somewhere else, I have no idea...
I don't play only Schumann!!! (But lately quite a lot... yes!)
Sooner or later. Hopefully sooner. No time to waste..!
This piece brings me a "total dejavu feelings". A week ago, I did not know the piece existed. And now it feels like I knew it for my entire life... just don't know from where...
Always amazed how "modern" Franck's music sounds.
hi glenn (thats only a compliment)
I understand. Before I entered Prague cons., I had no idea who GG was. But GG was one of the "subject of fascination" of my teacher (RIP 2 months ago). His biggest was Sviatoslav Richter who was their family friend, he knew him in person, very well. But GG was very high on the list too. 😃
... but piano first..! My hair is not important.
It is very noticeable that You feel the music. You could make a video playing the opening song of the westworld series. Which I'm a big fan of. Hug
Amazing man, you are very talented congratulations.
Thank you, I do my best.
Great as always! I really enjoy these shorts. Also I have to admit that you really inspired me to just play the melodies that are in my head at the moment. This motivated me to play regularly again after a really long pianobreak. So I have to thank you!!
I don't need to read hundreds comments full of stupid emoji, smiles, hearts and such.., saying nothing senseful. One comment like yours "compensates" it perfectly! :) The way to go! No need to thank me. (I can just say that having piano at home is.... muuuch better now. Long story, but a couple of last years I spent without piano here in my "Dutch-2nd-home" and practicing in "someone else's places", it sucked. I was counting my time in seconds, to learn all the repertoire I needed in just limited times (not to forget troubles which my friends had with neighbours etc. ... because of me. One thing is when someone "wants" to help you but then they find out it wasn't that easy as they "expected"/wanted... etc.) And for sure, there wasn't time to just freely mess around / improvise / whatsoever do for fun... Glad at least this is "over" somehow for now and now, I am enjoying my piano (a gift) which i did not like particulary at the very beginning but now, I am just falling in love with it more and more and still cannot believe how capable it is, being just a tiny 114cm height pianino... So. Have fun playing!
Go practice syncopic rhythm now!!!
those downward scales are perfectly executed and the tempo just matches the dance perfectly
Yes... They may have improved the speed of the video, not sure... But it matches and it's fun. Nice memories. Granddad still "fighting". 91yo at the moment (also grandma, his wife. 91 in september also).
I wonder if the machination of the two pianos that you used for the two recordings have impacts on the speed. cuz this piano transcription requires the fast release of the keyboards after each repeated strike, and the Yamaha upright may slow you down a bit.
No no.. I don't think piano mechanics was the reason. Here, I played a tiny bit slower "on purpose".
Maybe I wanted to enjoy the sweet feeling of having winter ski-sock in my mouth for little longer... who would not enjoy that? 🙃
I can't believe he just pushed thru those difficult second part the same speed and ease as the first part. that's amazing. and the final improvisation is very to the point of baroque style. Sokolov's version is amazing for its delicate touches and crispy pearly tones and articulations and control. This one stands alongside his for its speed and bravura on youtube without doubt.
Yes. Thanks. I remember recording the piece on this specific piano in school because this piano has the quickest response. Again - this wasn't "try" to record the most delicate and cultivated-touch-version ever. Comparing this to Sokolov - as the others do, it is completely "out".
Great playing
Wow this is so beautiful!
Thanks a lot. Stay around for the full version.
I have watched this video dozens of times - it never gets old. Unlike some, I love the tempo at which this is played. I have also seen Sokolov's version (on a tuned piano, in a concert hall) and have also enjoyed it very much. We all know that there are many ways to play a piece, as your sock-in-the-mouth version of Couperin's Tic Toc demonstrates; (Olga Scheps has a slow, lyrical version that I also enjoy as it showcases the charm of the piece.) I don't see any need to choose "one" interpretation as the "correct" way to play Couperin's Tic Toc Choc, although I do understand that we all have our own preferences. But how boring the musical world would be if every piece were interpreted the same way by everyone! Even though this performance was "just" a practice piece at the conservatory, I am glad you filmed and posted this. I have - repeatedly - experienced much enjoyment from listening to it. It expresses wonderful vitality. Bravo!
Comment worth "virtual gold coin". Fully earned! My trust in humanity is a bit stronger now. .... :) Not a long ago, some guy commented on my "shorts" with Knight Rider theme cover that "I am fake". My fingers "don't match the sound". ... :) People today let scammers steal their money on the phone but video with me, playing piano is not trustful enough... Up-side-down-istan we live in. ..... Thanks for the comment. When I get little older and I feel older than here, I may record Tiiiiiic Tooooooc Chooooooc BPM45 or so. Lets's see... Or.... I should just try on my "new" piano which I finally have at home. So much to play. :)
Tomorrow, rehearsal with a singer(s). Am I prepared enough??? -- eh... Of course, I am!!!
U go ur so good🎉🎉🎉
Life has taught me!
... important is that "things are happening"..., sometimes.
Nicely done!
Ah.. c'mon. Just a short "impression". 👊
Beautifully played. 😃
Thanks.
