    Hey, i know this is 1 year old video but it's the latest one... just wanted to tell you i really enjoyed your videos so far on the colle and philidor... your variation of the philidor (with a slight variation that i made as i used to play the czech defence too) is a london system crusher xD [if they play fast and/or are not too strong]. They take the e5 pawn and stockfish already says "??" xD free piece out of the opening and gg

    I don’t agree choosing an inferior opening gives you an upper hand, at least at 1800+ Fide. A disadvantage, rather. No matter what you play, if you play it all the time, people can prepare. The only way to make sure they don’t gain the upper hand from the opening, is by knowing your opening is objective and computers don’t scream at it. Also, opponents below very advanced level don’t even prep the Sicilian for White.

      @@SLChessDevelopment however, I think that Philidor can also be fun, just like Bongcloud or unsound gambits. When I see a high level player doing 1…e5, 2…d6, I immediately think he’s a maniac and maniacs are scarier than opening meme lords

    People complaining about candidates move. You will find this simple only you apply the method to chess over and over. It's really simple if you know enough. You should know some candidate move just by evaluating position.

  • @AR-ln7ip
    @AR-ln7ip Před 3 měsíci

    Ng3 is by far the stronger move of these candidates. White struggles for equality after e4?, since he can't accomplish his main pawn break on f4. Speaking of which, the immediate f4 would be the first candidate move I'd look at, and it is very strong. Stockfish 16 slightly prefers Ng3 at depth 40, but f4 is only a hair behind. F4 is also easy to calculate OTB, since it forces a response, so that's my pick for the aggressive option.

    • @AR-ln7ip
      @AR-ln7ip Před 3 měsíci

      That said, this is still a useful video, since it gets people thinking about plans, even if I disagree with your assessment of the position.
