Listen... I could not listen to the concert all the way through. I had to take breaks. Lol it was a lot to process. Unfathomable talent and I've been listening to her for some time but you just never get use to it. She just doesn't stop evolving.

Songs that make yoi uncomfortable are good for you, because it means you are learning something from it. 2 yeats aho around when this was released inlost my dad. Pops had dementia but he did know to the end his kids and mom of course. In the end he would o ly ask us are you ok? Even in his state all he worried about is if we are ok. In hospice care for a week our family gathered from all over the country. For 7 days my brothers sister and mom shared time in his room for 10 hours a day. Been quite a few years which is a blessing. We sang laughed and celevrated him . The day befor he passed i whispered to him the we are ok and it is ok. This song brings back all those memories and they are good

His father was diagnosed with a form of kidney disease. His sister wrote a poem and he worked up the song between the two!! I THINK!! No telling what's real BUT this artist is known for his heart and lyrical genius. You should check out No Bravery next!! Very VERY deep.

She was one of three people who wrote the song. The guy who originally wrote it, wrote it about going to LA to try to start a music career. Later, he changed some of the lyrics to make the song about his wife. He then sent it to another guy, who added instrumentation and changed some of the lyrics. Then Anita Baker wanted to record it and she changed some of the lyrics because she was engaged at the time. She also asked that the tempo be sped up. The story behind it just adds depth to the song for me because two of the three writers wrote it about someone in particular, which I think totally comes through in how Anita sang it ❤

Yes girl that was his dad and he wrote that for his dad! He was facing kidney failure and he needed a transplant and got one and he is still alive. But all the proceeds that the song had he donated to children's kidney research. And bless you little sis! I can tell ya have a big heart
