Thank you for uploading this, beautiful princess. I lost my dad when I was 6 year old. To see a woman as amazing as you are react to this means a lot to me. You shared something really meaningful to some people out there. Again... thank you.
His father was dying from kidney disease, fortunately they found a donor and his father is doing well now. This is about the role reversal when the child becomes the parent chasing away the monsters.
James is a former officer in the British military (as his father was before him), so he donated all the proceeds of this beautiful song to the UK charity 'Help For Heroes' which does such fantastic work for ex-British servicemen and women. Well done James. You're a British hero too.
As all around them in the Production team knew the story everybody was in tears during the song & his dad said "What is everybody crying for. I'm not dead yet".
James Blunt, his father, the man sitting next to him, was diagnosed with terminal cancer they believed was going to take his life. That's why he wrote the song, but God spared his life, and he survived telling his father about the song they decided to make the video together together
This was the first time sing it to his father who was dying they did it in one take because he want to show the emotions and the whole crew was crying when he was done
This song is so amazing and James shows raw emotions. This video was recorded in one take. The tears are real. No one can watch this and not cry. I have cried so many times watching this. Grown men, reactors, broke down while watching this. I just subscribed to your channel 😊❤
At the time of this recording, James father (the gentleman with him), was diagnosed with terminal Kidney disease & he thought this would pretty much be the last time he would see him. Fortunately, a few months later, a cousin was found to be a compatible match for his father & the operation to save him was a success.
His father was diagnosed with a form of kidney disease. His sister wrote a poem and he worked up the song between the two!! I THINK!! No telling what's real BUT this artist is known for his heart and lyrical genius. You should check out No Bravery next!! Very VERY deep.
It always amazed me how some music has this way of cutting through all the BS of life and how it finds this common thread in all of us. Real men, real women, whites, blacks, asians, and everyone can identify with this scary, core spot in our souls. Close your eyes and take in this music and maybe for the first time in your life you just don't care who you are, who others are, but you can come to realize, are we really that different after all.
Songs that make yoi uncomfortable are good for you, because it means you are learning something from it. 2 yeats aho around when this was released inlost my dad. Pops had dementia but he did know to the end his kids and mom of course. In the end he would o ly ask us are you ok? Even in his state all he worried about is if we are ok. In hospice care for a week our family gathered from all over the country. For 7 days my brothers sister and mom shared time in his room for 10 hours a day. Been quite a few years which is a blessing. We sang laughed and celevrated him . The day befor he passed i whispered to him the we are ok and it is ok. This song brings back all those memories and they are good
Yes girl that was his dad and he wrote that for his dad! He was facing kidney failure and he needed a transplant and got one and he is still alive. But all the proceeds that the song had he donated to children's kidney research. And bless you little sis! I can tell ya have a big heart
I lo ve this song, I lost my Dad 18 years ago to brain cancer, it was not a gentle death. He suffered. He screamed in pain, it haunts my sleep. He was a great Dad who worked hard for us! By the way you have beautiful eyes!!! Thanks!!!
My heart goes out to you; I can't imagine witnessing my father in such pain!! I would have died for my father I loved him so much! I so sorry for your agony!!!
I can tell from your reactions being a little faster than other reactors, that you have the soul of a poet. Each symbol of emotion, such as "clothes on the chair" immediately registered with you. Keep doing you, missy.
Yes, it's real, and that is his father in the video, who was dying of stage 4 kidney disease. Finally, after the video was released, a distant cousin turned up as a match, and his father's life was saved.
I love the song, I am stage 3, the difference I will never be eligible for a kidney, 1 word stops everything that's autoimmune. I have rheumatoid arthritis, Lupus, hypothyroidism, Takayasu Aertitis vasculitis
The line "I'm not your son you're not my father we're just 2 grown men saying goodbye" was what he dad said to him obviously in reverse, when he said goodbye to James when James went to the Kosovo war where he served as a tank commander. All proceeds to the song went to the veterans charity Help for Heroes.
That breaks me... I loved the strength, safety and security that my father gave to me!! I miss my father so much; the day he died on his living room floor after the paramedics gave him CPR for 20 mins, I feel like my life was over! I loved my Father so much...Everyday I wish I could jump into my car and go see him! He always appreciated my presence! No one in my entire life has ever been so happy to see me! My heart is broken and I miss him more than words can say.
The "You're not my father..two grown men saying goodbye" was what James said when he was deploying to Kosovo, James was a Captain and his father was a Colonel in the same regiment. Stiff upper lip in action.
Make the video together and just in his thoughts about losing his father broke him to tear luck would have the song became a success his father lived by the glory of God.
Lovely to see your heartfelt reaction, bless you. My tip for getting more subscribers is to do a series of reactions to Nightwish from their 2013 Wacken (pronounced Vacken) concert .. the band will blow you away as each song is a masterpiece in itself and you will LOVE them. maybe start off with Ghost Love Score to wet your appetite ...
James and his and his dad are both ex-military men. They'd say "I'm not your son, you're not my father we're just two men saying goodbye " to one another keeping a stiff upper lip before James was deployed to the Kosovo conflict.
James said it was shot five times, two with his father and three without. He thought it was a waste to write a eulogy for someone and they didn't get to hear it! It definitely worked though and you can see the passion and hurt.
I loved your reaction, but you did do one thing wrong - you turned off the video before it was finished. At the end, his father reaches over and touches his arm, to comfort his son.
If you are serious about doing music reactions please invest in a high quality set of headphones and fix the audio, it will give the best chance for success.
This is my first video of yours but if you haven't yet ... James Blunt - Goodbye My Lover - live Oxford union . Bring kleenex again ... but so powerful so sad
What a beautiful reaction. I subscribed immediately. Could you PLEASE react to Piece by piece by Kelly Clarkson (live from the American idol farewell season)? VERY emotional and beautiful
Ok ok ok… Do I have to be the first one to acknowledge the curtains in the background started going crazy just as the song let’s you know where it’s going?
Honey is father is English. Probaby had money. MIght have been unavailable to his children and wife in the guise of working. He might have affairs. His son is forgiving him on his death bed
Thank you for uploading this, beautiful princess. I lost my dad when I was 6 year old. To see a woman as amazing as you are react to this means a lot to me. You shared something really meaningful to some people out there. Again... thank you.
Oh wow!🥺
Stop flirting. She's MINE ;-)

Oh wow! That’s so sad. So happy to hear that his father is doing well
This is his REAL dad, with stage 4 cancer, terminal>>> BUT they finally found a good kidney just in time! Blessing from JESUIS!
James is a former officer in the British military (as his father was before him), so he donated all the proceeds of this beautiful song to the UK charity 'Help For Heroes' which does such fantastic work for ex-British servicemen and women. Well done James. You're a British hero too.
It was real.
His father was dying when he recorded this and sang to his dad.
Thank God they later found a donor
Yup. Nope. Yup.
ALL THE FEELINGS.
This is a PERFECT song.
It moves us ALL.
Love from Detroit Michigan.
the moment that gets me is when James's Father grabs his arm and rubs it with his thumb to comfort him. Peak dad
Don't hide the other side you are so beautiful girl ❤wow ❤️ don't hide the beautiful smile ❤
As all around them in the Production team knew the story everybody was in tears during the song & his dad said "What is everybody crying for. I'm not dead yet".
There wasn't a dry eye behind the camera. And the father said Why are you all crying. I'm not dead yet. 😢😥
I have watched this video so many times. My lesson: No matter the agony, let your dying loved one know how you feel before it is too late.
Sadly I've seen reactors watch this without shedding a tear. I feel sorry for them - they must be troubled souls
His father was dying on kidney failure and just before he died they found a donor and he lived. That's him sitting beside him
Bless you!
I love this song. Guys who have lost dads really feel this one.
The beauty in a woman whilst she's sad is sometimes breathtaking. My Dad passed last Tuesday. my Mom was sent this tonight.
You know by now about it , it was shot in one take
All the film crew cried, you showed the song the correct amount of respect
Good job and well done 👍
Her reaction was beautiful!!! Congratulations!
This song is devastating!!!! One hello from Brazil!
I have heard this song many times, i am crying every time, if you don't cry you don't have a heart ♥
Silence. Everybody reacts this way. It demonstrates just how much we all really are alike and we should carry that thought with us every day.
Watched/listened to this song many times but your reactions making me tear up

a cousin fourth removed provided a kidney for his dad... the power of video
Such a powerful song. I've watched a hundred reactions to it and cry every time.
Me too... I always cry!
This was the first time sing it to his father who was dying they did it in one take because he want to show the emotions and the whole crew was crying when he was done
WOW...I can't believe how authentic this was. I can't stop crying.

Really well put! Thank you!
The power of music.... saved his Dad’s life! 💜💜💜 amazing. You did such a great and true reaction. Thank you!

Loved your reaction when the father came on the screen, priceless. It doesnt hurt that you are also beautiful.
love your reaction and wonderful to see there are women who are still beautiful inside as well as out, thank you
Thank you too!
Everybody has a father... Forever!!!

I think role reversal is sort of archetypal. As kids, our parents take care of us when we are young and as adults it's reversed. Nice reaction.
I can tell from your reactions being a little faster than other reactors, that you have the soul of a poet. Each symbol of emotion, such as "clothes on the chair" immediately registered with you.
Keep doing you, missy.
WOW, your reaction was DEEP. It deepened my own sadness.
Yes, it's real, and that is his father in the video, who was dying of stage 4 kidney disease. Finally, after the video was released, a distant cousin turned up as a match, and his father's life was saved.
interesting trivia, his Father and the cousin had the same name.
Bringing it to his dad his dad needed a transplant but I think he got it
I love the song, I am stage 3, the difference I will never be eligible for a kidney, 1 word stops everything that's autoimmune. I have rheumatoid arthritis, Lupus, hypothyroidism, Takayasu Aertitis vasculitis

First time watching you. Beautiful reaction. Such a heartbreaking experience. That´s the purpose and power of music. To reach us on so many levels.

Don't hide that beautiful face please ❤
Thank you for this video.... You are an amazing, beautiful person! Please keep posting!!!
Go back and watch the last two seconds, when his father pats his arm reassuringly, with a bit of a smile.
That breaks me... I loved the strength, safety and security that my father gave to me!! I meant to say his father needed a transplant but I think he’s got it I think he still alive
James said it was shot five times, two with his father and three without. He thought it was a waste to write a eulogy for someone and they didn't get to hear it! It definitely worked though and you can see the passion and hurt.

he did this video in one take... no auto tune .... he wanted his true raw feelings to show through .... powerful
The audio wasn't live; it's obvious in several places.
he's singing it for his father when his father passed away.. it was his last goodbye to his father after his father died
see cakra khan version
