Intro to Welding for Woodworkers w/Johnny Brooke | Getting Started
There are a lot of woodworkers and furniture makers out there that would like to learn how to weld and add working with steel to their arsenal (so I've heard). So while I was in Asheville, NC collaborating with Johnny Brooke from Crafted workshop on a Live Edge Coffee Table build (Linked Below), and welding up custom Hairpin Legs (also Linked) I took advantage of the opportunity to get an informative video for the second channel. Let me know if this series has legs!

Neither of us are welding experts by any means, and since most of our projects are woodworking based, we thought it would be helpful to share what we know and some of the common problems and growing pains we've faced on out own welding journeys.

How to Model a Workbench in Sketchup // Woodworking
zhlédnutí 286KPřed 6 lety
Welcome back to sketchup 101. Today is a great beginner/intermediate build. If you've never used sketchup before..here's a good place to start. If you have any questions, leave a comment and I'll do my best to keep up with them, and don't forget to check out the actual build video for the workbench: czcams.com/users/edit?o=U&video_id=gM3oCXcyxoA Written article: www.modernbuilds.com/workbench
Chris Salamone Teaches Me SketchUp | How to Model a Dining Table

This is eventually going to be the second in a 3 video series in sketchup for furniture design. The first will be a simple Table build, and the third will be a more complex, advanced build. But I took the opportunity to design my most recent project with Chris Salamone from Foureyes Furniture. Thanks to Chris and make sure to subscribe to his channel. After watching your EXCELLENT video (2X4 workbench) I liked it so much, but, wanted a shorter version. I looked up Sketchup only to find Google had sold it and the new owner is no longer offering a free version. Do you have any other software suggestions?

    where's the cutlist tutorial 😢

  • @asuhayda1
    @asuhayda1 Před 4 měsíci

    Great tutorial except you could have been much faster to use an internal array for the table top instead of laying out and measuring all of those 2x4's.

    I've had the chance to use this table a couple of times now. It's fun to whip out in front of people:) I can see what people are talking about when they say the legs are delicate, but they're design to support a "mostly" vertical load, not be torqued from the side or pushed back into place. If you just let the table open or close on it's own and don't force anything, it works great czcams.com/users/postUgkxyFZUPFEey-PuqsPMxqaykBhgA1LWxFHh Once it's set up, it's pretty solid. My only gripe would probably be related to the clamps provided. They're not the highest quality. They do the job, so no big deal, but they could be better. All in all, pretty cool gadget.

    hello, the better machine will be fluxcore 125 from harbor freight, this is a much better welder than the black one you showed, for about 170dlls gives you a lot better ranges for welding

  • @Apistevist
    @Apistevist Před rokem

    MIG is Metal Inert Gas and considered a separate process than Flux Core. Both machines function the same but require different techniques (drag/push) and Flux Core leaves slag so you'll need a chipping hammer and it'll be a bit messier more like Stick.

    I know this video is older but where exactly are you typing the numbers like the measurements so the program makes it in scale for you? I don’t see where your typed it, example when you typed the 72 inches for the length of the table I might have missed it everytime but that confuses me

    My only suggestion would be is to learn how to exposure correct your camera. You're at least two stops overexposed.

    Maybe good for something in your garage, but if don't know how to weld then it most likely won't be structurally sound and highly unlikely that it would pass a break test. I've been welding pipelines for over 20yrs and am still learning every day.
