    What is crazy is that if I use a filter, it removes all the pictures that are not included from the layout I'm working on

    Very interesting thank you. These days, and especially when away, I use LR Mobile to perform initial editing - and after culling the unwanted images. This practice would obviate these features reviewed here presumably.

    Another useful video. There are always little tricks I learn from your videos. 1) we need to be able to save more custom ratios. My customers’ display and print requirements are way more than the limited number provided. 2) Lightroom needs to proved the option to crop to a specific pixel size. I don’t want to crop smaller than a specific dimension social media and specific display requirements. There are often specific image pixel requirements, and I don’t want to crop more than 1:1 pixel ratio - export scaling is not sufficient in many cases.

    Still using Adobe, would you like a better culture from them? Perhaps boycotting for a time might help. Yes, it will be painful but there is always a price to pay. I’ve done just that, painful though it is.

    Thank you for the series. It is very interesting. When stitching several photos into a panorama a distortion of the horizon occurs sometimes. This is mainly visible with seascapes (and yes, I should use a nodal slide but ...). In those cases, I find it difficult to correct the bended horizon with the transform panel in LR. So, generally I solve it with the free transform tool in Photoshop. Is this good practice or would you advise another solution in LR (or PS)?

    Why should I use profiles if I can use presets?

    • @jkost

      Profiles are different from presets. Profiles can contain color lookup tables. Presets can include profiles as well as other slider values.

    Nice. I wish there was a short written summary of each profile (as you did on the ones you mentioned) to make it easy to know the difference between each one. There are so many, and it is often unclear what the difference is without great attention to detail and/or comparing similar profiles applied to different images.

      @@jkost thanks, but that just echoes the video. For example, the blog shows numerous modern presets and I find it hard to distinguish between most of them making it difficult to determine one that I would reuse without comparing its effect on numerous images. I find it more productive to ignore the canned presets and just edit each image. I appreciate the effort and quality you put into each video. Very clear and useful information in each one.

  • @jmgcg
    @jmgcg Před 9 dny

    Adobe profiles are ok, really nice, but with a Colorcheker the profile created are even better. People should be aware that these profiles are the first that came in a workflow pipeline, since at the end we have a ICC profle PS. SpyderCheker doesn't create a real profile and

    Would love to see you extend this excellent intro to profiles to cover profiles generated by color checkers. What do they generate? Does the average amateur photographer vs a product photographer need to do it?

    • @jmgcg
      @jmgcg Před 9 dny

      Since I use X-Rite's Colorcheker, now Calibrite, they generate profiles that tell ACR or Lr how the camera's sensor "see" the colors, and in a very approximate way. The difference between the profiles created and those from Adobe is quite large, and if you use double profiles for images captured in places with a double light source, it's quite accurate. Do amateurs need it over professionals? It's a matter of choice and wallet, but is something worth, after all, you spend a lot of money in photographic material and you what colors that look wright This is almost the same questions my students ask. Should I profile my screen? A calibration device is expensive. And my answer is always the same. You bought an expensive or sometimes an almost high-end screen, but you don't want to spend money in a calibration device that will serve you for years? So you spend money on the screen to see colors that you don't know if they correct or wrong but, above all, you won't get the full potential of the device
