Bear in mind that in the view of Californja taxing authorities, the state in which you have your DL is the least important factor in deciding whether you are no longer a tax resident. Owning property, where your children attend school, your employment (if you provide services to a California company, you must pay California income tax), civic organizations you belong to.....it is not so simple.

Ok, I just read the section 41. Most of guys and the person who did the video and the lawyer, completely misinterpreted the law/bill. My worry is now that if the lawyer like him misinterpreted the law, all the government officials and the bank employees will also misinterpret it and will tax you wrongfully. If you made an income in 2024 in another country and transferring that money to Thailand, only then you will have to pay the Thai tax on that money. But if you are transferring money from YOUR saving account TO YOUR savings account, that’s NOT your income in another country and hence it must not be taxed under Section 41. This is the problem with most of the Asian countries. They simply don’t understand English very well, let alone how to interpret laws written in English. I would request the host of this channel to go to a better lawyer, preferably a British born lawyer practicing in Thailand and ask him to explain.

I wish they would have some kind of visa for retired ex pats that doesn’t require a large sum of money sitting in a Thai bank account. I have the money but I do not wish for it to sit in the bank and be inaccessible earning no interest. The elite visas are just ridiculously priced and out of reach for most people.

We there recently,10/6/24 with my family of 6,get meter taxi from the airport, kiosk,both small taxi ,I use express way pay 25baht for toll,the other no,reach hotel no toll meter show 498 baht ,toll taxi meter show 241 baht,five minutes different,why so much different? Why not mention the country that Thailand has Tax agreement with, so if you pay tax of the money you earn or get in yours home country this tax will be reduced in the Tax in Thailand, so why don’t bother about it, if you are a person which do not paying tax on your earnings you have a problem

1) To work legally in Thailand you still need a work visa and work permit. 2) The 180 tax rule doesn’t apply to Thai sourced income. Maybe the 500K THB security bond will need a tax clearance certificate to get back but nobody knows as of now. 3) Thailand is now a CRS (Common Reporting Standard) Country.
