Steroid era players SHOULD BE in the HoF. They saved baseball. Besides... baseball has always been a game of getting some advantages over others. They ALL are guilty of cheating at some point. Just how the game is. To me...the steroid guys like Bonds, McGwire,Sosa,Palmeiro and Canseco are Hall of Famers. Among others. You can't erase history regardless in Cooperstown or not.
I wish Major League Baseball had true random drug testing, and not this " oh, John, you have a drug test tomorrow at 10 am".... Baseball is ruined with these rich crybabies.
That's a lot of steroids towards the end. Gonna have to give the thumbs down to this one.
Murray's date is wrong. Camden opened in 93. He hit it in 96 not 86.
Now do it without dopers like Mark McGwire.
McGuire PED, Bonds PED, A-Rod PED, Sosa PED, Palmeiro PED, Ramirez PED, Ortiz PED all on that infamous list that should have been made public. Shame on MLB for turning a blind eye and then only exposing A-Rod and letting the others stay a secret- but we know that all the above were on the list. Cheers to the “naturals”. Griffey Jr., Mantle, Aaron, Reggie, Mays, Killebrew etc. All asterisks well deserved. Their numbers are skewed and so by this baseball fan their stats disqualified.
Ruth and Foxx hitting homers in those gigantic ballparks from back in the day is incredibly impressive.
It's unbelievable Frank Thomas's 500 home run did not occur in the White Sox uniform
Fact checking this video it was Willie Mays 600 home run that is 500
Griffy had 400 (398) when he was traded from Seattle. Took another 5 years to get the next 100 hr's. Injuries in his prime wrecked his opportunity to be the HR king.
Nice days... today, excess drinking, smaller stadiums and mini malls...in side , people only watch fraction, of game, unless monumental
I was at Chippers last game and I swear AJ Burnett signalled the pitch while tipping his cap. Didn't know it at the time, but he waved the glove and kinda just pointed lol Giving a dude his moment, props
Spoiler Alert: Sammy never made it to Cooperstown.
That dude when he scooped Bond’s ball had no regard for human life at that moment. He is a LEGEND
Mike Schmidt’s homerun was epic and a short swing
Too many steroid users on this list. Got to give it to Ruth and Aaron for 700+
I was at Dodger Stadium for Albert Pujols 699th and 700 home runs. Absolutely incredible and a very nice person.
That was Willie Mays' 600th. not 500th.
Sammy Sosa earns that ticket to Cooperstown. Oh wait..........
Was fortunate enough to be at the Rogers Centre for Miguel Cabrera 's 500th.
Love it when the outfielders just turn and look.
When the crowd gives a retiring player a standing ovation it is because he was one of the greats but when on top of that the opposing team gives him an applause it is because he has also been a gentleman.
That last hit by Stan 'The Man' Musial was his number 1,815 in games played at home. On the road he also connected exactly 1,815 hits, one of the most amazing statistics in baseball history (final total 3,630).⚾
"How is this for drama ?"
Oh how I loved the Stephen Vogt segment at 4:36, his kids announcing him, and then... 😃 1-derful !!! ⚾
Ted Williams red seat homerun
Vogt's kids gave him absolute power. That whole sequence was amazing lol.
Hard to believe Willie Stargel and Dave Winfield did not make the list.
How many of these players juiced? They should not be honored.
bonds and mcguire need to be removed due to their steroids
A Homerun should only count IF it would've been a Homerun in every ballpark at the moment. With this standard, who's #1 now?
Do the guys who used steroids have an asterisk next to their names? If they don't, why can't Pete Rose be forgiven? He too was a HOF'er before he did what he did.
Some did it clean, some didn't. For those that didn't, I don't know how to feel about them. Bonds was a HOFer before steroids, so was Clemens for that matter. Also MLB knew for the longest time what was going on yet turned a blind eye because these guys were putting asses in the seats. They could have nipped it in the bud before the catastrophe hit. Careers may have been tarnished but not totally ruined had they done so.
Is it me or was the pitch frm mantles hm looked hella slow?
As a lifelong tigers fan, I gotta say Lucas giolito is an absolute rat. In the final game of the season where both the tigers and guardians were out of the playoff race, he didn’t throw miggy a SINGLE ball over the plate. The final game of his career, he was thrown strictly trash and breaking balls out of the zone
The greatest tragedy in sports history is Bo Jackson getting hurt
Yup. I watched that playoff game. I am 68 years old and this guy is the greatest athalete I ever saw.
It's hard to watch the 4 proven steroid guys here, but I've always wondered if any others were found out about? Thomas, Thome, Ramirez, Sheffield, Pujols, Ortiz, Cabrera? Holy shit, these guys were big as houses and kept getting bigger through their late 30's.
These guys hit milestone that Are hardly ever reached by most mejor league ball playeras
When Jimmie Foxx hit his 500th HR, the Red Sox hit six of them for the game. Two by Ted Williams, two by Joe Cronin, one by Bobby Doerr, and one by Jimmie Foxx. All of home runs were against George Caster of the Philadelphia A’s. George Caster pitched 2.1 innings, allowing 10 hits, 9 runs, and six home runs. HOWEVER, he wasn’t the losing pitcher. Ed Heusser pitched the first three innings, allowing seven hits and five runs, before Caster came in “relief” in the fourth inning. The Red Sox won the game 16-8.
so happy Miggy reached this tremendous milestone, he brought me a lot of happiness as a young man with those fun Tiger teams in the early 2010s! Gracias Miggy!
Putting there age on the screen at the time of the accomplishment would have been cool. Good video.
Oh my , what a great idea this was !
May's clip is number 600.
I thought a couple of the losing pitchers and catchers would have taken a chance to congratulate one of them. Or both dugouts emptying.
Baseball. Love it.
Griffey's should have been in a Mariner's uni
I do not care how anyone explains it- with few exceptions, pitchers prior to the 90's were absolute trash.
Pre 1999 500 Hr Club vs post 1999 500 Hr club. Lots of roids in the post 1999 group.
What’s the most interesting to me in this video is the differences between who comes out of the dugout to congratulate the hitter. You know who the true greats are. Huge fan of Big Papi. 😊
How about Donnie Baseball ?
