Sandblaster's quest for more power and reliability out of the KX500... Oh Yeah!
KX500 Center valve pin removal.
This short Vid shows one easy way to remove the two pins from the KX500 Center valve. In the Vid I used a piece of scrap steel for a tapping block. You really should use some brass or aluminum but if you use light taps it will not damage the valve. Enjoy!

I need your help! Im building a 88 cr250r. Those yellow plastic peices are melted down into the spring on mine. Where can i find 2 more? Let me know thanks. Ive already removed them and waiting for new ones to install
How would I go about timing these correctly I have a broken cam follower so I’m assuming they are not going to be set correctly any help is much appreciated
Have you found out yet
Runs great
Hey I really need to know where I can get the power valve guide spring collars. Its the yellow plastic peice on top of the springs under your screwdriver. Mine are melted!
I appreciate this is an old video! Why does the other valve not move when you actuate the one under the screwdriver? Mine seem to move together?!? Thanks for any help in coming…
Is there a way to tell if the KIPS valves are installed correctly by simply removing the header pipe and not removing the jug?
Mighty 5 hundee.
Fast
what keeps that tolerance from getting tighter? Do you add a shim?
'Frenchie' build?
Awesome man
I haven't looked at mine but doe a 1989 cr250r have a power vakve linkage. My 88 rm250 did and it was easy to set. This damn thing looks like a nightmare.
Great job! What kind of torque wrench is that?
Does it have 72 wheel or engine power
Mine stick open, any suggestions?

Can you do a video or explain how to modify the kips stopper bolt to keep the rack from overrotating?
Nice flock, what is it your feeding them, they seem to love it. Thanks. Kirby.
What did you ever end up doing with this beautiful unit 😍🤠
😂
Thanks this video helped me a few weeks back.
Hi Mike, great job on the kx guru content. Would you happen to know where i can get a new crank for my kx500. Cant find one in Europe.
No original sound!
Absolutely useless video! My gears don't have index marks and you guys spend zero time showing the correlation of the power valve to the ports in open and closed throttle positions! You do all this work based on the index marks and no anotomy or functionality of the work being done. Absolutely useless! You may as well remove this video from CZcams!
Do they spring back on their own?
Yes
Hey what pip and silencer are you using? I’m doing the same swap
Hello. I just now saw this. Sorry for the delay. The pipe and muffler are one off custom. There is not another like it on the planet. My suggestion is to get the pipe you want to use and and get out the Sawsall and go for it. The muffler was from a 2016 KTM250 SXF that was re-cored to the same ID as the KX500. All custom...
@@kxsandblaster1516 what is this pipe desing for? Mid to top end power? Low end grunt?
Aplaudo tu dedicación, hermosos pavos, lindo video saludos cordiales desde Lima Perú 👍🇵🇪✌️😷
Thanks guys for this video, I'm finally sorted out and putted correctly that valve. Thanks very much 👍

Jason has my frigging dream job.. Iv heard the (well once you do it you will find out its not your dream job) and have even had a dream job come through an turn to shit. I personally do ok. I run a bar/club with my brother that we own. The older i get the more i hate being around people. I think in a well set up shop with a stereo is where i belong. Live it up brother.
Hi, I was wondering if the 88-89 kx250 subframe will fit my 97 kx500? At the moment that is all I can find on ebay , perhaps you have one that could be sold. I am also doing the top end and found that the original owner had an LA sleeve put in, any preference for new piston and flex hone grit?
Hello, i have an 88 kx 500 with an 87 motor in it the previous owner dissasembeld the transmission, the input shaft seems too be from the 88 model that have a bearing in the case not a needle bearing, but when i put the toothed washers on the shaft how its descriptet in the manual the gears are stuck you cant rotate them and my next question is do you know if the 86 input and output shafts are identical too the 87 ones ? and is the 88 output shaft identical with the 87 one ? I would be really happy when you can help me with my little problem... you can write me an email too if you want wagner.duggendorf@web.de best greetings from germany
What kind of sulotion is that ?
Soo awesome. Do you still make your frame gussets?

Thanks for the video man, saved the Day!!! Had both forks stuck in my 2012 KLR650, did this on both the upper and lower clamps, and it worked like a friggin Dream! *Raises can* Cheers man 🍻!!!
Where can I order this stainless flange?
To each their own but I can’t stand that deep voice metal sound. I don’t know why but it bothers me lol.
