Visa should sitting on a 8% dividend yield AT LEAST....They take EVERYTHING while giving NOTHING and DOING NOTHING (Their business model is basically passive income while having monopoly) ... f@cking greedy lazy company.

saving for a better investment. I always tell myself you don't need that new Maserati or that vacation just yet. That mindset helped me make more money investing. For example last year I invested 80k in stocks and made about $246k, but guess what? I put it all back and traded again and now I am rounding up close to a million.

Great spreadsheet. I love this. Couple things I would like to suggest: 1. When I change the currency in the "Stock" tab, it only updates the market value, it doesn't update the purchasing cost. There is nowhere for me to track historical foreign exchange rates. This might be tedious to implement but definitely a nice quality of life addition for your next version 2. I'm a Canadian, so when I change the currency to CAD, the crypto tab won't load in the correct info for the cryptocurrencies I hold; I had to copy and paste a brand new spreadsheet in USD just to track my crypto holdings. 3. In the Dividend/Portfolio Recording tab, Column A seems to be manually inputted as of now. You can actually automate this in Cell A7 using this formula: =if(isblank(D7),"", TEXT(D7,"mmmm 'yy")), so when I input the actual date I receive my dividends in Cell D7, it'll spit out the month and 'year in the format that will work for the Dividend Calendar tab (e.g., January '24). Again, a very simple quality of life update that you should consider for your next version

Good stuff. Suggest also at least ten percent of high yielding CDs or good treasuries, these usually have no fees and can smooth your beta. Make sure you get them with coupon payment timing that is favorable to your schedule; do this right and you have an amount coming up every month or two to reinvest (a bond cascade) and you can rebalance easily. A dividend strategy I find is very useful if you either have a whole lot of money and you want to minimize downside or you have some cash saved up and the next tier of money you have is for intermediate goals. You can set up a 6-9 pct gain with dividends but real long term money is probably better served in an S and P index. You’ll get better returns there in the very long run. But that money may have to ride out the S and Ps swings. A dividend fund can handle money where you don’t want that possible downside. Also unlike the s and p the poster is doing it right by using individual stocks and managing these. If you have a low expense platform you can build a position in twenty or thirty stocks for almost no expense, and that’s a key. A dividend ETF might charge you a half percent or more which is a lot when a good dividend only return across multiple sectors is about five percent. Sure you could do better with nothing but tobacco, real estate and pipeline partnerships but there’s risks in all three of these. It’s helpful to have petro, utilities, pharma, materials, industrials, and they all pay varying rates.

you should liquidate your positions and sit in cash until the next market correction, 5 years since covid and a full 10 from the last proper crash. Cash is paying approx 5% atm with zero investment risk. It makes no sense for you to sit in the market with such a low return and stock market highs.

If you had your funds in a standard savings account at 5.5% interest. Your 180k would return 9.9k in the first year which is $825 per month. This would save you the first 2 years on your quest

In the next few years I will have a decent amount to invest , maybe around $300K to $400K and have a rental property that the cash flow would be $2K. I want to make another $2500 a month from dividends for a total of $4500 . Would investing in Dividends of $300K to $400K be enough? My SS would come in in like 13 year, that is its still around.

I still didnt find the courage to buy Visa with 0,8 yield when I can buy HSY, ADP, SNA with close to 3% yield and dividend growth above 12% also.... am I wrong?

I just got in on the drop at $72 not a huge amount but will likely DCA even as it falls as historically looking back to 2015 i believe the price has traded between 45-60 so even at this price may not be a discount but in 10 years i can see them bouncing back and those shares be covered by bringing my price down over say 12-18 months
