It is a bit more difficult if you have to swap the actual keys though. I highly recommend you spray some oil in the new key - pin hole in order to remove the blank dumby key. (It required a considerable amount of force with the punch tool and a small hammer to remove) Had to use the original dark carbon pin in the new FOB so it could lock in. (Also required some tapping with a small hammer and punch tool) ***Recommend using a vise or clamp of some sort to keep the remote still during tapping. Overall = GREAT VIDEO 🙌 saved me at least $200. Only cost me about $30 all together to replace.

DO NO PAY A DEALERSHIP 250-300+ TO REPLACE A KEY FOB! If you’re reading this I just finished swapping my old key circuit board into the 2010+ VW key fob shell, it took about 15 minutes and everything works like normal. Paid $58 all together for the key fob and tool kit on FasterAutoKeys website.

I need a key for mini Mini Cooper 2004 convertible

I went rafting and the plastic bag failed to protect my keys. The shell has a small hole over one of the buttons, water got in and the keys wouldn't work. I used this video to disasemble the keys and remove all the water. I then used 92% iso alcohol to clean everything up. I reasembled it and my keys started working again, shew! I am going to order a new shell. I used pliers to pop open the shell and a pin from something else along with the butt end of a screw driver as my hammer.

Thank you for this video, I went for a dip with the fob in my trunks pocket, I was able to open the fob and clean off the circuit board which was already beginning to rust, you saved me over £200, if ever I have the privilege to meet you drinks are on me, thank you :)

I need a shell how can I get one

can anyone that tried this verify that the buttons on the new fob work after switching everything over?? i have a 2000 new beetle with one key, the key i got when i bought the car was in pieces and became unusable shortly after. i put the chip from my NB key into an old spare vw transporter key fob i had laying around, it's a different style fob from the new beetle one, the key works on my car but the buttons on the fob don't work. i'm not sure if i just need to sync the fob to my car and therefore need a second key or if it doesn't work because its the wrong style fob. if anyone knows anything about this that would be super helpful 🙏 i'm not even sure what to google to help me out loll

So question: I just bought a 2003 Carrera and it came with 2 keys BUT it has a generic zero-button shell. Since you stated it had to have a transponder inside for it to even be able to work, can you replace that one with a regular one that you offer? I am guessing that it can be used as a remote but since I do not have that feature on the current key, is it possible to have that done? Thanks in advance!

$60 got me a brand new key perfectly cut, cant even tell the difference between the original! would recommend 10/10
