@@janlendlperalta5017 big streamers will usually be a good idea but i've also caught some big ones on stonefly nymphs. Keep exploring and you'll get one!

Honestly try to think about the general habitat; not the specific water. If you go by “mountain rivers in Alberta” and start fishing them you’ll find the bulls and cutts. Put in the work, we all did

Most fly shops have courses that can introduce you to the basic skills and techniques so you can get a good idea of what Fly fishing is like. The shop I guide for, OutFlyFishing in Calgary does this and it’s free. Their next one is July 13. Guided trips are also a great way to learn, but I think you’ll enjoy a guided trip more with a few of the basics already in your skill set. A guide can help you learn other skills like reading water as well as working on your basic skills. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I hope this helps! Me too. Once you drag a streamer through it’s pretty much over for that spot. I like to start with less “showy” methods and move up

There was no way to get down. It’s hard to see but that pool had no go around on either side that I could do with rod in hand. Believe me I would have loved to go downstream on the second fish but my mountain goat days are behind me and I have never been a good swimmer.

That’s what I use when I’m chucking streamers and I was wishing I had one as my arms fatigued. I certainly would have been able to get them in quicker if I did.

It happens all the time on that stream. Usually with whitefish. So much fun! I’m hoping to have an answer for you on the guided trip soon. I haven’t forgotten! Hope your spring is going well!

I think it is time of year. I catch on streamers early in cloudy water, then nymphs later on. Hope you have a great spring!

In an ideal world yes… unfortunately I usually only the hope of the long handled net. In this case both of these difficult nettings were my own fault for being under gunned and in poor position. Thanks Ernest for always watching! Hope you have a great Spring!

That’s usually the case here to with the occasional freakish large one that forgot to swim back post spawn. These were definitely resident and it’s a special stream.

@@MidLifeFlysis south eastern sask got inlaws in cowtown but recent no travel stuff i do pretty well all my fishing here for northern / walleye / perch and stocked rainbows

@@MidLifeFlysis awesome stuff! Moved here from BC 3 years ago now. Settling in nicely. Still have yet to hit streams, but that will change this year- it just looks like too much fun. Maybe a guiding trip from yourself. Can do a collab video 🤗

@@avid.venture lots of great streams for sure and lots of fun too. If you are interested in a guided trip, I am now guiding through OutFlyFishing fly shop in Calgary so I can be booked through them. My season starts in early July. As for collaboration videos, it’s tough for me to make those happen with a busy guiding schedule , but your channel looks cool!

About 10-15% is useful. Good for shots of netting, showing rigs and flies, and sometimes for vlogging as I walk. What I mostly use it for is audio. Often my camera is too far away to pick up my voice so I get it with my chest camera. Hope that helps. I’m actually considering just getting a voice recorder instead and only turning the GoPro on for netting shots.
