thanks it was very informative...but transport is still very confusing...we wish to visit Japan in September end ...will be interested to see Mt.Fuji..Osaka..Kyoto..okayama hroshima and Tokyo on our last leg of the trip

Man you really have to hate the Tourists that don't do their homework before visiting and are absolutely disrespectful to Japan and it's culture. I have been learning phrases and what not to do for months. I think it's real crappy that they want to discriminate, It's not hard for foreigner to point at a picture on a menu and give a thumbs up or something

That sounds like a great itinerary! There's something for everyone, and it shows many aspects of Tokyo. Very nice! Even though I can speak Japanese a bit, I'd be hesitant to go to a neighborhood Izakaya or Snack Bar without a local, so I think it would be great to have a guide like you, Meg!

Shibuya had so much litter when we were there in May; I hope this rule helps clean things up!

If dual pricing is declared legal in one situation, it will soon be everywhere. Foreigners who want to deepen their ties with Japan often first make a tourist trip. They feel discriminated against. Then they may abandon the Japan project. Japanese people have no idea what a bad impression they make with dual pricing! Japan has to decide: do they want foreign friends to come? Or do they want the money of the many tourists?

In Viet Nam, we don't eat out so often. We eat at home most of the time and we eat out only when we are invited by a friend to a wedding party. The chances to have lunch everyday with our friends will be provided by the company management who wants to create the good relationship for their staff.

About dual pricing: I hate visiting places where I'm not wanted. I really wish we hadn't decided to visit Japan. It makes me feel ill.

They seem to be lying about Android support for virtual IC cards. Any hardware that is sold both inside and outside Japan obviously has the hardware support. Something else is going on.

I visited Grandberry Mall in Machida and there's no reason to go there. I saw the next day a "private" tour there for $108. 😂

Dual prices will have unintended consequences. Some businesses will begin to only serve the tourists because they will be losing money on Japanese customers - why would they? This will in turn make these businesses less authentic to the tourists, so there will be fewer tourists and, more importantly, decreased reputation of Japan. A dangerous move.

Hello, Meg san. This lifelong Californian is about to visit Japan for the 29th time in September. I’m glad to see you masking; I still do in public. I had a difficult time finding masks to buy in Japan last year. I don’t own a cellphone. I”m not sure if I’ll have as easy a time using my standard Suica card and recharging at a station. I’m always hoping to find new vegan restaurants. Have a nice day.

I love Osaka, Kobe and Nara. I think they're my favorite area of Japan and they're a good starting place for traveling to other areas of Japan as well.

My friends in Tokyo say that the bad behaviour they see is primarily from mainland China. This is too bad. The rules abused, now everyone will have to suffer the consequences

Foreign visitors would feel everying is still cheaper in Japan even if the dual pricing will be implemented as YEN is so weak . If the Japanese currency get stronger Japanese marchants will adjust the foreigner price accordingly to keep foreign customers.
