Hi Eirael, very good video. That's why I love portable software. All that is need is to tell the carrier (Reaper in this case) Which folder to scan and it detect and load everything with no issues because the VST is already in the for it understand. I wander if installing VST will also work with Lutris on Zorin OS...

Yes it is very easy, but its also easy to screw up, and I know many ex Windows users like that until they listened to me. Even I screwed up my linuxes in the beginning when I switched from Mac OS X, which yea means that I had an advantage as even the then filesystem of linux ext3 and structure is very similar to UNIX/OS X then and even now. Just be careful about installing packages, strange things can happen if you truly don't know what specific packages does in a true way. Also do not install multiple Desktop Environments and Window Managers. That'll really screw up your day and you'll end up having to erase and reinstall. If you must try different DEs and WMs, then you better get plenty of large say 8gb or 16 gb USB drives and make tons of Live USBs for try out of each different variants and test before choosing which to install.

@@eiraelmyrn1246 Thanks for the video. I already saw it. I thought you made a dedicated video of Pipewire with Zorin. Still, I'll watch it again. Me too have used Asio4all on Windows on a none audio/video dedicated pc that have an external Audio interface. With a external Audio interface it is different. I have Roland Quad Capture and it has a software needed to be installed so Windows will be able to recognize it, and it is like that with all external Audio interface. They come with a software that contain the Asio driver within it and after installation it is possible also to effect different feature of the Audio interface. Pipewire looks awesome, and from what I understand, Pipewire both driver and a signal router. I wonder if they also recognize support different external Audio interfaces...

Hi Eirael. I just learn that there's also Lutris platform that suppose to help when installing Windows software on Linux when Wine and Bottles do no work. Do you know how it works? I would really like to know how to install the notation software Sibelius with it on Zorin OS. Totally agree that you said it is not worth it. Moving to Linux only will take time for many Windows users because of the relaying for the third party software. That's the main block. Detailed video tutorials on how to make the third party software work on a system like Zorin OS will make people see that they do not need Windows.

@@eiraelmyrn1246 Hi Eriael. It is totally clear that the Terminal is the preferred method of pro Linux users, which is probably much better then us who are used to double click. Zorin is an excellent bridge for that because I have managed to run Cakewalk By Bandlab with all of it's internal VST in Lutris without any issues yet. If this will work with the other software I use. That's a fine solution that will help moving to Linux permanently. I wander if Lutris can also run third party Windows that are portable (no installation is needed). If that's possible, then It is bye bye Windows. It will be great if you'll make detailed tutorials that shows using Lutris on Zorin to install third party Windows software. That will be a game changer for many people. An installation video tutorial of the notation software Sibelius will be great, and the Windows version of Davinci Resolve.

I recall that one of them was Wine mono. I did all the necessary steps preparing a bottle. I tired to use a portable version of Cakewalk by Bandlab before installing it, and while cakewalk worked on Windows as portable, on Zorin it didn't work. The EXE file doesn't show when searching in the bottles, unless I choose "all files", and when activating the cakewalk EXE, it says "Launching Cakewalk but nothing happens. Basically yes, but for Video Production you can use native Kdenlive, blender Video Editor (if you are crazy), or run free Davinci Resolve through podman with distrobox a Cent OS Stream 9 container. Watch the YT Video "Install DaVinci Resolve on ANY Linux Distro" for the setup. For Photoediting you can use RawTherapee GNU Image Manipulator, Photopea, etc. There are many Linux native Programms that do an amazing job. Working through Wine is in my Opinion more a Last Resort Solution. My Tipp: Install Zorin 'OS, Fedora40, or if you are completely new: LinuxMint on a Virtual Machine. Check out their "App Stores". KDE Plasma beeing the best "Windowslike" Desktop Interface.

hi What Wine Version and what Distro are you using? Open the Terminal and type: "winetricks" -> "standard wineprefix" -> install Windows DLL Files. There you can install Internet Explorer, .NET Tool, etc. Installing singular Plugins is easier, while installing a VST Launcher is way more tricky. Other than that try installing it via Bottles.
