    Can excessive burping and sweating also be symptoms of CVS? Because that is how my 'attacks' usually start. First the extreme burping, then the dizzyness, lightheadedness and nausea, and then the relentless vomiting; every 10 minutes for a couple of hours (usually 15 hrs in total where the first 3 hrs are worst and then the frequency slowly goes down). Insane sweating in that period, I mean literally dripping sweat and having to change shirts 4 times per hour... I also get songs or sentences stuck in my head that just go over and over and I can't think of anything else anymore. Normally I never have that. And, hyperosmia 🤨. I can smell everything way better and even regular water suddenly has a stronger taste. Is there any information to be found about this, or do others have similar sympoms? I'm a 39 year old woman btw.

      You really need a doctor who understands this condition. I'd consider a paediatric specialist for the gut or migraine... and keep searching until you find someone you are happy with. There are doctors who are knowledgeable in this area and they can make a world of difference. I hope you find answers soon!

    I have this during and in-between migraines. I can only use hard pillows and keep my head shaved because anything touching my face lightly is so painful. My neurologist had me try topical lidocaine and it numbs my face for a time.

    Can you have Abdominal Migraine with no stomach pain? Or am I being categorized wrong?

    • @migraineworldsummit
      @migraineworldsummit Před 10 měsíci

      While everyone has unique symptoms in their migraine attacks, abdominal pain tends to be the most prominent symptom of abdominal migraine attacks. In addition, more traditional migraine attacks can also occur without head pain, and frequently include symptoms like nausea and vomiting. It may help to list out your symptoms and talk to a headache specialist (bit.ly/headachedr ) to ensure you have the most accurate diagnosis. Here is some additional information from the American Migraine Foundation- americanmigrainefoundation.org/resource-library/abdominal-migraine/

    My neurologist has never bothered to ask me how my mental health is doing. Twenty-two years of chronic, treatment resistance migraines. Not once. I always thought that my migraines and depression/anxiety were isolated from each other since I had suffered from them before migraines. I didn't realize it worsened. I'm on a new treatment that has reduced the number of migraines and I feel I have greatly improved my mental health. This lady's story resonates so much. My studies came so easily before the migraines. I didn't remove my college books from the shrink wrap. Now, I want to complete a master's program, and just don't think I have the headspace for it because my memory is not the same. My working memory is completely shot.

    I can totally relate to Wendy and her story. I had migraines ever since I came back from the first Gulf War in 90-91. However, decades go by and military doctors are still telling me I have stress headaches due to my military position. The drugs they gave me never worked so I just kept popping over the counter medication like Excedrin Migraines and many others. No one told me about the risks of these drugs and I ultimately paid for it later down the road. It wasn't until 2013 when I was a few months before I retired from the Army that an Army doctor had me take detailed notes of my migraines. He finally ended up giving me Zolmitriptan and that was a life savior for me. Unfortunately, my neck issues are keeping me still having migraines into my 50s, but Aimovig has been a lifesaver for me since it has reduced my migraines from 16 to about 7. The problem I had with the over counters was that all those years of NSAIDs that I was taking left me with stage 3 Kidney disease.

    Thanks for sharing this. Since I have been suffering from migraines, so many people thought I was just making things up. I took a lot of Tylenol and aspirin and Excedrin and finally realized none of it was helping. I quit taking it mostly. I am currently on a low dose aspirin that is prescribed by my doctor for other medical issues. I rarely take any over-the-counter pain medicine now, because Medicare kicked in and allowed me to go on Botox Injections for my migraines. These injections of Botox has been a game changer for my migraines. Of course, it is very expensive, so thankfully I get it paid for. This story is amazing and I am glad that you shared it.

    31:29 7:01pm Thank you for sharing your story. I have taken every medication prescribed by my many neurologists, as well as the Nerivio device and Cefaly device. I have just been told that I have rebound headaches caused by the Excedrin-free OTC. The only abortive medication that has ever aborted my migraines is meperidine by injection. I have been off of the meperidine and excedrin-free medication for over two weeks and I now have a migraine every day. I have just tried Ubrelvy but that hasn’t worked either. The next step for me, is an IV infusion of Vyepti every 3 months. I’m hoping that my insurance covers the infusion or I don’t know what is left. My migraines increased after I had Deep Brain Stimulation surgery 2 years ago for a tremor, which had to be extracted because of infections. I was an LPN so I’m aware of addiction as well. 60 years of migraines is enough for me! I wish Wendy and her family all the best.

      I have failed on Botox, ubrevly, topomax, maxalt, relpax, ajovy, Emgality, water pills, barbiturates, and just started Vyepti. Really hope it works for me, but I'm still recovering from the terrible days of side effects after the infusion. Absolutely horrible just FYI to watch out for that. No one warned me and I was puking and in so much muscle pain everywhere, especially upper back, shoulders, neck, and all over my head.

  • @karenottenelias1471

    Topamax can contribute to bone density loss.

  • @karenottenelias1471

    Opiods can cause headache and are hard on kidneys.

  • @karenottenelias1471

    Triptans are rationed to 10 or 12 per month because overuse can cause serotonin flush which can kill. Can also cause other kinds of harm - not sure - maybe cardiac for seniors.

  • @karenottenelias1471

    What is safe for tension or cervicogenic or migraine? Imitrex and NSAIDs and caffeine are the most effective. Then there is acetaminophen. Fioricet has been helping me - a combo of acetaminophen, butalbital & caffeine.
