The book has a weird structure in that it jumps ahead two years and suddenly the Fremen have taken over Arrakis. It skips the fun action scenes that the film incorporated by doing so. Then both the book and film rush towards an ending where the Sardaukar are quickly overwhelmed, which for myself diminishes the import of what is happening - the Sardaukar are losing for the first time in a VERY long time - and then you are in the Throne Room. The book hints at what becomes very apparent in the later books - Herbert's storytelling was not always up to the task of communicating his ideas and themes, which were his greatest strength. The plot of Dune is intricate and multilayered, but the next books, not so much. He regained the last ones got really weird. And his characterization was probably the weakest part of his storytelling. The characters often feel like plot devices. This all works in Dune itself, but becomes a very evident problem in the sequels. And it certainly wouldn't have worked well onscreen, which is why I'm wondering how the hell Villeneuve is going to adapt Dune Messiah.

It does help the cats a lot to put a blanket or towel over their box when you transport them. Calms them down a lot. That's what my veterinarian recommended me.

love this for you! i'm sure you've already looked into this during your research, but you may want to consider covering your compost or mixing in coffee grinds (if you guys drink coffee haha) to help deter certain pests. also, yes, turning over your compost is very important, as this helps the compost "breathe," and maximizes decomposition rate. additionally, though maybe just as importantly, this helps reduce that 'compost smell' lmao. can't wait for more installments, as I'm currently living away from a garden and thus am vicariously building a home garden through you 😆 Good luck!!

my dad became a plant-parent during the pandemic and after retiring, so we have a bunch of pots plants and flowers in our yard thanks to him, we hope to build a garden in the future too! so i can say this is my fav series ever, im excited for the next videos, it's inspiring

I highly recommend drying variety pole beans! They've always done well for me and you can get green beans early and dry beans when they get too big! ❤ And they come in many colors too 🎉

Hey dish I think it’s really cool you are gardening with no experience! My mom loves gardening and has a very luscious garden in our backyard BUT even though it’s been successful hundreds of plants died and will still die under her care. Her advice is to just not give up because it really is trial and error!! One day your garden will blossom! you got this 🙏

Hey ms dish I just wanna tell you that plats usually don’t go directly into pots without drainage holes. So people either make a drainage hole into the pot or use a plastic pot with holes and then a ceramic pot without drainage. It’s to prevent old water staying there and forming mould and stuff. This is just knowledge from my own room plants and bc i experienced that. I’m pretty sure it’s for outside plants too. Yes I hope that helps you!! I’m looking forward for more stuffffff yessss. It is very normal to have a good amount of insects when dealing with compost. What we have is a 3 level container that can be taken apart and a lid, there's no bottom to it it's just the ground and dirt under all of it. Get a smaller bucket or something that you can fill with dirt so you can carry dirt around instead of the whole bag. Also egg shells are very nutritional so save them and crush them up, use them with your dirt for your plants it works great!! Wish you all the luck and look forward to future updates ❤

Dish I am so happy to see you living your plant mom life. I highly recommend getting alcohol wipes(lens wipes) or just a bottle of ethanol to sanitize your plant sheers each type you cut. It's a good way to clean the wound you made and not spread any infection a plant might have :) OH another tip since you want to grow food, I recommend sticking to plants indigenous to your geo area. A lot of new people end up failing trying to grow stuff that is not suited for their climate then getting frustrated. The 'three sisters' Is also a great start(corn, beans, squash) but i would double check on your hardiness zone. The book Braiding Sweetgrass by Kimmerer is also a great resource for agriculture and North American Indigenous practices.

Isnt a rental the perfect place to experiment and learn? If you get your real garden you at the least know what to not do again. Because if it doesnt work out you can just clean it up when you leave. And at best you have seedlings or even whole plants for your new garden!

I want to document my garden improvement project too but I have zero confidence in filming myself and I live alone. I can't wait to live vicariously through this series while procrastinating in comfort behind my screen.

I used to have a tomato plant and the tomatoes were softer and yummy, sometimes you'd catch people stealing some teehee
