Every video I've watched on correction software shows everyone has a giant dip close to 100hz. The only thing panels and foam does is smooth out the eq curve. You still have the same issues, so you're just really polishing a turd. I say this because I have 12 inches of foam covering the entirety of my mix room and while the eq curve was smooth af, and both speakers were mostly in phase, but I still had a huge dip at 100hz and a bump at 50hz. My desk caused the same thing in the mids, but the software flattened all that out. It's weird but beautiful to feel that bass guitar growl like it's supposed to. Thanks for the video!

You can buy the black face plate and new bulbs if you want em! I can't believe it's 3,800 now!!!! I was VERY VERY fortunate to buy mine for 1,200$ cash in 2009. I have a Manley Voxbox as well that I bought for 2,500 about 9 years ago which is my workhorse. These prices are insane especially with how devalued music is. Good video!

Smart makes it sound like a record. Much more grabby on the vocal in the best way possible. Just holds it. Kinda tucks in high mids and highs nicely too. Dione does muuuuch less. If you accomodate when mixing for the C1LA’s grabbiness, then it’s no contest for me.

Listening from the phone….i think the CLA is doing a way better job at tucking that vocal in. Sounds MUCH more balanced.

I just found a dealer selling the Procaster at 85€ and the Broadcaster at 215€. Couldn't resist and bought two of each. I love them both. The Broadcaster brings the details and crispness of a condenser but also comes with that very dynamic response which requires a little more discipline. The Procaster is more forgiving and has a very pleasant warmth. While it has less high frequencies in direct comparison, it still doesn't sound muffled or bad. It still manages to understand speech perfectly fine and is less exhausting when listening to longer texts.

This is a interesting question but for me there are a few factors to consider. 1) what type of vocalist am I recording? 2) what type of mike am I using and 3) the room ambience has a big influence too. Is it dead or more alive with many nuances?

I try not to record singers with severe over bite. But I leave them in.
