Torin 'Big Red' Car Floor Jack Assembly and Review
It's an aluminum alloy and it will turn like that in time. Especially today with the crappy gasoline containing ethanol. Ethanol is hygroscopic (it attracts water). So when the gas has been in there for a while a lot of water is in there too and it will start the corrosion process. When you run a 2-stroke engine like me, it will be somewhat mitigated by the oil in the fuel. When I shut down for the season I let my motor run dry and I blow some WD40 into the carb just as it is about to die on me. A few turns on the starter will let it come all the way into the cylinders too.
Couple questions….What side of the float bracket do you bend to adjust to level? Next, do the Welch plugs absolutely need to be changed and what’s the consequence of not changing them? Thanks in advance!!
My 93 200xp starts right up
Excellent Video
Cool, I've got a 73' J-25, good to know it's here for reference.
This is great, thanks!!
Nice job, it's appreciated. You've been a great help!
Where have you been man it's been a long time since you posted
Staying busy with my other jobs!
I've got a 98 25 horse. Having trouble finding parts. You have a part number or site I can find it on? Thanks
What weight, and how much gear oil do you fill it up with?
80-90. Until it comes out the top hole
@@thisoldoutboardthanks for the reply! My Evinrude is torn apart in my garage and I'm currently waiting on the kit from Amazon. The only other thing that I noticed when taking mine apart was a seal below the water pump plate. I noticed this seal comes in the kit in your description and was just wondering why you didn't install the seal in your video. Thanks for your help!
Great video!!
I just bought a boat that came with a 6 HP Johnson. It purred like that proverbial kitten.... until I dropped it in the river! Now it doesn't even pretend to start. I'm semi-handy with tools but I'm not sure how to approach the problem. I watched some of your other videos, I don't have a flywheel puller and would be reluctant to use it anyway since there are small cracks in the flywheel. Any suggestions??
What about carb jetting?
What about carb jetting
What kind of fluid did you use to refill the reservoir
ATF
What is that small wire sticking out when you are putting it back together?
Just got done following your video to complete the rebuild of a 68 Johnson 20 horse and thank you so much. It went so smoothly. I appreciate your videos and what you do.
Mine spins and spins no start. Very finicky. Ran fine a week ago. Stator replaced and batteries are hot. I think its flooded now ,,,,,,
I have a 6hp Johnson it has 70-69 but it’s a cheap gauge from autozone fires right up just needs some carb work, you think that’s decent enough before I start putting money into it
Was totally stumped about how to re-use the old plastic connector. 24:28 mystery solved. Thanks!
I would think the compression would increase after you crank it for a bit, or run it so that oil gets on the cylinder walls.
This is true
Good to see you back.....lot's of videos out there today on the basics (magneto, points, carb) but not much on the powerhead stuff.....I'm not talking about re-boriing blocks, but rather cleaning up cylinders and re-ringing to get compression back........would be nice to see this performed on various old J/E motors such as the 6's, 9.5's (I know, lots of work on your part)....just my two cents. Good luck!
The whole shooting match that's what I want to see
What can u do to a 02 25hp Johnson and get more power . Top speed 30 on a 14x36 aluminum boat
Not much you can do to the motor. That speed is not slow for your set up. Look at changing the prop pitch or adding a jack plate. That’s about all you can do.
You recently helped me rebuild a Johnson 25 ! Love your videos
Good to see you back! Look forward to it!
Appreciate the vid.
Where do you buy the belt replacement? I've tried auto parts stores not one has it
Good job, I have 2 units to overhaul. Good tips.
does this apply to a 1997 150hp with ficht also? thanks
I like your videos friend but the choke for ten seconds does nothing. When you pump up the squeeze ball it fills the lines with pressure., as soon as you push in the choke it dumped that fuel in a half a second and doe NOT refill or keep going. It is just a solenoid that is open or closed, it does not pump. Just squeeze the ball, hit the choke while turning the engine over. The fast start will kick in and it will just fire. The rest is not needed nor does it work. (My experience? 54 years and going as a marine mechanic and repair shop owner)
Can you make one for my 2003 8 hp Johnson?
Search Motor Flusher Muffs. That will work for your motor. Widely available
We need help… our copper tube seems like it is missing parts? Bought a motor that someone else worked on and the copper tube just fell out… how does it attach at top?
Check out marineengine.com for engine diagrams
Thanks for the video

Just got the part for my 7.5 Evinrude. You were so responsive by email and the part arrived quickly and it installed like a dream. Can't thank you enough for the great video and the ingenious device!
I wish I knew what size the fan cover bolts are
If you replace the primer assy or rebuild it (very easy and cheap) you don't need to go through any of this. Mine was the same and now one 10 sec choke and busts right off.
Помогли бы деду с запчастями на такой мотор.please!!!
Mine had some type of white silicone on the bolts because of dissimilar metals (aluminum/Steel). Also its best to call a Yamaha dealer and get the EXACT part number for your kit. Mine had 11 different kits and only 1 is the right kit. Use your model number off the plate on side of motor and call a dealer. Best to order the kit right from the dealer vs off of SCAMazon. Yamaha does not sell direct or through parts houses so the only way to get OEM and not CHIN-HO-OEM-Knockoff is to buy from a Yamaha dealer. WARNING if you spin the propeller the wrong way during cup to impeller insertion the impeller will be in the wrong way with fins backwards. Fins should be pointing clockwise when held in left hand looking down at upside down cup. I insert my impeller in the cup while in my hand C and then slide the cup/impeller over shaft. For a 2021 F25swhc the kit number is 6fm-w0078-02-00 and the impeller alone number is 6L2-44352-00 Also for removing a stuck key here is how. 1.) Wire brush any rust off. 2.) Spray with penetrating oil. Let sit overnight or for one hour. 3.) Tap one side of key with a large flat punch on one side so it rocks in the slot and it should rock out easy peasey. 4.) If its still stuck you can freeze it with any compressed air item hel upside down, like a can of propane or dust off and freeze it to make smaller then use tap/rock method. 5.) If still stuck and least desirable use a small dremil cut off disk to cut a slot in the top (dont nick shaft) and pinch with vise grips and pull out.
Just what I needed thank you
I listen,, And take creed ! very helpful !! my appreciation !
Thy for ur time !!
hey i bought your plate for a 35 hp evinrude and its to small. and it be nice to see a 35 hp motor how to. I drilled my one that came with the motor. what to do with the old tubes that come out?
It’s the same process as the 10 hp in this video. Johnson Evinrude OMC 10 Hp Bypass Cover Adapter for Fuel Pump Conversion (Single Line Tank) czcams.com/video/FOwZbXQnuao/video.html Start a return on your purchase and I’ll refund you when I get it back!
Hi, I have a 1974 Johnson 4hp (model 4R74R). Do you know where the thermostat fr this mo5or and the part number? Thanks
any 2 stroke divorced fuel oump can easily be adapted, I used a Mikuni divroced 2 stroke fuel pump on my old martin 10 HP outboard, simply tap a line to the motor lower case to have a pulsating signal and direct it to your fuel pump, nothing to custom machine, only a rurimetary bracket to design and fabricate.
THANK YOU!
Best instructional video I've ever watched. Great Job.
Great video, one of the best instructional videos I have ever seen. The only thing that could have made it better is if you came over and did the work for me 👏👍
