@@libertyprime2186 😂, thank you brother, fitness for martial arts has kept me youthful, minus the injuries of course.
This is great. I am a white belt in BJJ and love all the judo they teach. Totally agree that people should do some boxing to avoid hits and close distance. Thanks for the video.

Started Judo in 2019, was going well and really enjoying it, a reckless and immature training partner with no self control caused a bad break in my collar bone. Just started back after 3 years off! Im 42 years old !
My man! thats some warrior spirit right there, most people would stop after something like that. Consider yourself among the warrior class and slightly crazy as well, hehehe, i busted up my knee 3 months in when i started, about year later busted up the other one, many other injuries along the way. Where there's a will theres a way, always. OSU!
@OGFITNESS Slightly crazy 🤪 hehe. I probably would never have went back again, only I started bringing my 8 year old son, and I want to lead by example 👀💪, really enjoy your channel, keep up the good work!
i got a bad knee will i still get benefits of my knee doesn't touch the ground
@@brennansnowdon4642 yup, go as low as you can without touching, theres no real need to touch the ground, i did it here to regain my balance or to simply to go as low as possible and my knee ended up touching, but lightly of course
I’m leaving weight lifting and doing Muay Thai and I’m about to add in Judo.
@@stephensloan4933 sweet!
Thanks brother! I’m close to your age and really feeling the guillotine chokes these days. I tell my partner in advance that I will tap early, and about any injuries I have, and at what speed I’m looking to roll at. And I don’t have issues sitting out a roll if something feels a bit off in my body. Like you mentioned, strength training and stretching are both super important. So important that I’ve laid off the martial arts a bit in order to incorporate more strength and flexibility work. I do 4 days a week of resistance training, followed by stretching after each session. I do a maximum of 4 days a week of martial arts as well; two days striking and two days grappling. And yes, if my joints aren’t feeling up to it I have no issues just drilling and sitting out the sparring. Some days I just show up and watch the class, because we can still absorb knowledge just by watching what’s being taught. Good stuff brother!
@@joeperez-marchese1213 good job brother, you sound like you have things under control. And thx, always appreciate the support. Osu🥋
I recently joined a judo dojo. Should've done that from the beginning.
@@SebastianGallardo-z8b i know the feeling
I just got passionate about BJJ and Judo, especially about the intensity and culture of Judo. I really want to try but seeing some injuries it seems like madness. I am not talking about minor injuries, but about permanent ones. I am really competitive and going 100% is something will get me injured. Even accepting to doing Judo without competing, belts or anything... just one throw not well done, just one fall on your knee and you are done for life.. I train Calisthenics so I am aware that there is no risk 0, but there I know how to anticipate the injury by listening to my body. In judo I feel there are too many things outside of my control, and being injured for life isn't fun.. Everything is good until you get your daily life compromised..
@@Morjixxo contact sports/martial arts will always have its risks, only the strong and the crazies, Osu🥋
Well, you are wrong.
2 years to get my green
You know when you people make this video, you probably haven't been in a self defense situation before it's all your own opinion BJJ takes time to get someone down striking can end a fight in second. Believe it or not I've been in several confrontation as long as you are faster then them you have a higher chance to with the fight
@@alanlau7297 ive been in enough situations buddy, calm down.
@@OGFITNESS ok one on one. I tell you the Gracie's family in Brazil usually fight one on one and there are a lot of people circling around and blocking other people to make it a fair fight. But in North America its different fights usually are not fair. Either your out number or your opponent has a weapon. I had a break in and tried to rob me he had a knife I used my Wing Chun kung fu and it worked just fine. As soon as he raised the knife I cleared his front hand and rushed in and took him down to submit him. One on one maybe and the maybe is on the street there are no judo mats it's concrete floor your landing on
I get a yellow belt in 1 year and training in a week 3 times and my judo is work for streets
Yes timing you learn best in fencing. But you must have a body that can stand interruptions. The same in wrestling. That is the difference between fencing and body fighting including boxing. Of course technique is all, but sometimes you must do something if you don't know further. If you are strong you can try to apply your advantage. Take a weightlifter or shot put javeline, discus, hammer throw they have the flight of their "tool" in their brains. However they are no dreamers. Those don't feel the forth anymore when they feel that all is in order. My own experience and new knowledge: Of course you can be "too strong" to be strong. If you are out of balance you are no more strong enough to control the movement. 200 kg freaks - once they lose balance and control - are no more strong enough to hold themselves. You don't see 200 + kg freaks in the Olympics because they are normally not balanced. benchpressers ly on the ground and so would lose all wrestling fights from the beginning. They can take part in the paralympics. Let's see who will win the Olympics the fat Japanese, the tall and athletic black from the Antilles or the really strong but expensive Georgian (the Korean may be a surprise by good luck)?
💪🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Agree Agree Agree That’s my life motto “respect”!!! But about the post..thanks for sharing, I have never seen this particular stretch….i def will be adding this to my pre workout 👍🏼👍🏼

Does judo and bjj go well together to open up a dojo??? Or Should I do something else
@@samo2072 very well imo, the best of both worlds. Judo, Bjj, and wrestling is the ultimate when it comes to grappling. The holy trinity of grappling.
Wait a minute. about 8 months ago Ramsey Dewey said he had a pro fight and sent him the footage. Ramsey said he was going to up load it to his channel. He never did and now Dewey says he was in prison and there was no pro fight? Something’s off.

My goal is achieve a Judo Black Belt, I'm a judo green belt, jiujitsu brown belt and also train mma, grappling & wrestling.
Concussions or just basic trauma to the head and neck
Great show and videos I am a 54 yr old black belt and have not been training regularly. Started in judo at 45 yrs old. I agree with Osoto Gari, but many of the hip throws are difficult for me since I am tight, and wore a gun belt as a police officer for about 28 yrs. If I do heavy warm up I am usually ok. Ashi waza has been more friendly to me. I have other arts under my belt, and started with BJJ several years ago. I think judo has more to offer me, but the stand up and taking lots of throws has humbled me over the last couple years. Keep up the good videos
@@JasonKimes-c3u thanks brother! Will do. Until i rehab a few more injuries, i stick mainly with ashi wazas.

for some reason i have always met friendly and encouraging people in Judo clubs and a disproportionate number of narcissistic mean and ego-istic people in bjj who have zero concerns over injuring you.
@@Rachelism there’s more narcissism in bjj, maybe because its highly associated with mma, was developed for one on one fighting, whereas Judo has a moral code thats highly emphasized.
I'm starting now at 23 with a background of around 7 years of general striking (Muay Thai, TKD, Boxing). I wanted to learn Judo to round myself out as a fighter both for the sport of Judo and MMA. I'll see how far it takes me into competition as well, I feel guilty if I don't train as much as I can, because I know somebody somewhere is training longer and harder.
Volume is important to develop skills, you planning to compete in mma and judo?
@@OGFITNESS Yes sir that's correct. I'm also crosstraining BJJ in the days we don't have Judo practice.

I am a police officer and interested in learning a martial art for self defense/defensive tactics. There is BJJ and a Judo facility in my area. What do you recommend? I’m 38 y/o. Thanks!
@@ErikNilssen both if possible, if you can only choose one, Judo. Another important factor is the quality of the coach and environment , if you have to choose and both clubs are equal Judo, but if the Judo club sucks and Bjj is better, Bjj.
My only regret that I have and the only regret that I will surely have in life is to not have started judo younger like 4-9 yo and I’m a person with very few regrets. With the adult life coming the number of responsibilities are growing, I’m scared to lost my free time and let judo become just a memory because I love this sport so much. belts in judo are fast but i try to take them very slow like once a year or more. Knowing the names of throws is one part but the most important part for me is to be able to execute them in sparing else what is the point of training
1 year per belt is long, about 3-8 months per belt is fine, depending in fast one picks things up
talkin' about 40+ years old amateurs (no fights) are muay thai kickboxing and boxe much better about not getting injured? thanks
Whats your questions ?🤔

Really great honest video. "If you can live without it... live without it." Unfortunately I think you are right.
@@noborikoon knees and shoulders man 🤦♂️, there are ways to stay safe by bulletproofing your knees and training strategically and tactically as a older person , which is what i preach on this channel.
@@OGFITNESS Thanks so much for your advice and content. I just discovered your channel and I really enjoy it. As a slightly older person who injures joints easily, I've basically decided BJJ is not for me after several attempts.
