BJJ reminds me of a boa constrictor snake, and Judo an explosive crocodile...
Although Bjj is my primary sport, I role a lot with Judocas because they are my size in class.
It's way easier to submit a BJJ practitioner because we both moving slow and take it more like a game of chess.
Judocas are to explosive in their movements and quickly takes the submission.
Yeah those fools are in a rush 😂
@@OGFITNESS if I wasn't almost 50 years old, then I would have rather done Judo. It's more effective for real life self defense.
Speed of BJJ / Judo in fact might be different, but not too much. Depends on practitioners, IMHO, and their style of fighting. Yet BJJ in general seems to be slower with its "slow force", while Judo has more explosive force and thus it's "faster". At the same time for me, as for a BJJ practitioner (white belt) who started Judo this year, it seems quite difficult to take advantage of this difference. While I spar with BBJer, I sometimes try to get more explosive, yet BBJ-guy gets in defense and it all ends there. Because in BJJ you don't get points deducted for holding a guy's belt for more than 3 seconds. At the same time I feel more or less comfortable when protecting myself from a lightweight judoka, because I act "against the rules" - I grab him for a long time and it's not easy for him to throw me, while I'm defending. At the same time, when I switch to "judo-mode" - I start playing the game of explosiveness and "not holding opponent for too long", and trying to make a throw - this is where I get caught/crushed instantly even by judokas-schoolboys :D
One of my coaches use to tell me, ‘stop thinking and taking your time, just attack!’
So attacking doesnt always mean exploding into action, it could alsi mean working aggressively towards a set up and them exploding, when you’re always on the hunt it creates openings and you give your opponent less time to think.
The way i see it.. It's hard to compare Bjj black belt vs. judo black belt.. cause it takes twice as long to get a bjj black belt.. Bjj black belt should have pretty good stand-up simply because he's been training twice as long as judo 1st Dan black belt..
Depends on the black belt , but yes a bjj blk belt should have decent stand up for bjj
@OGFITNESS how do you think the belts translate into each other sports.. I've always hear a judo black is comparable to a bjj blue belt.. If the judoka is going to compete in bjj..How about a Bjj black belt to competing in Judo?
Bro. Can u do a video of how u train for strength and explosiveness

I love judo but there’s no judo academy near me and I really want to start it out what would you recommend for me to do
