Sir, we know now that the only hurdle in Katra Baramulla USBRL project remaining is Tunnel T-1. As per last authentic information the deadline for completion was Aug 2024. But now it does not like it will be adhered to. Now we all want to know what all work is pending in the tunnel and how many meters Benching should have been completed by now by30-50 meters is still pending and similar situation is with invert ribs which are been installed.Also lining work is around 100 meters pending. Now by when will all these works be done so that drainage, track laying, signalling. Electrical and other miscellaneous works can begin to finally complete the project Kindly update what all works are going on and of those works how many meters each is pending . With monsoon coming work will further be affected. The company should have used this time to fast track work and complete before monsoon

The process of tunnelling in the geological sensitive zone is very difficult, especially because of different geological strata in one mountain, Himalayan Range is the youngest mountain range of world and there are different thrusts that are exercising their seismic activities. The MHT and collision with the Eurasian Plate have given the Himalayas a very unstable geological structure physically one will encounter different types of strata in a single tunnel from hard rock to clay , Tectonostratigraphic subdivisions of the Himalaya are so diverse that civil infrastructure construction is not a joke, one doesn’t know what will be next strata after a few meters of tunnelling, so tunnelling is not easy especially in the Himalayas . Only Hard Work, Dedication and different techniques have to be used at different stages of the whole process. breakthrough has been achieved, but the final work will take a long time. People who don't have the knowledge about the Himalayas think that railway will run within a few months. Engineers and Geologists too don't know when they will give the green signal , practical work is very different from theoretical knowledge. JAI HIND
