How did you apply for data analyst internship??
I made a video sharing my entire process (application to offer selection) : czcams.com/video/edDBy9zPy1Q/video.html
Good vid bro.
Thanks Julian
Hi Ranesh. I am super thankful for this video since it answered the question I asked previously😊. I am currently looking for a volunteering internship for a small company, and struggling with the job searching process, because most of the jobs I found on linkedin, indeed etc. are formal paid roles although I included the keyword “internship”. Do you recommend finding random companies on Googles map and email them my job request, even when those companies do not have any job posting on the internet?
Hey, thats a great question. I plan on making a video on that soon, it looks like a lot of people are interested in it. The reason why those opportunities are harder to find on those platforms are because they might not have the budget to make a job posting on platforms like LinkedIn or Glassdoor. Generally, I recommend reaching out to people you know (professors, family friends, local businesses) and offer to work for them, unpaid, for a period of time (a few weeks, a month, a year). My first opportunity came from asking a professor I liked and it was a part time opportunity that lasted a few months. I learned so much from that job and was even asked to return for a paid offer later. An alternative for those of you who are interested is to start following non-profit orgs (local ones if possible) on social media and reaching out there via email or through dms. Usually, these orgs don't have enough staff to get by let alone to recruit dozens of candidates so they don't really put up job postings. If you reach out via email and offer your services for free in a specific niche like SWE or Data Science/Analytics, they are more than likely to accept it. Maybe you can do some SEO analytics or improve their website or maybe you could even help with a database migration and get that experience. I hope this answer was comprehensive enough to help you!
Pet Shelters, food banks, and local churches are great options to get started!
Thank you for this comprehensive answer😁, I have been learning a lot since I discovered your channel.
Thanks bud, I appreciate it!
Thank you so much for the info! Actually I'm planning to do a stem program in usa. I have zero knowledge in programming n related skills. So would u tell me whether these certificates would increase my possibility to get into a good uni?? Thanks in advance!
I am not sure if it will help you get into a good uni but it will definitely help you understand the concepts being taught once you’re there and potentially even help you stay ahead of the class. I believe some universities also accept this certification for college credit.
Very very great video... and i want to know if you could suggest any resources to learn soft skills as well (the 3 behavioral skills that you mentioned at the begninning of the video)....
Great question. You gain soft skills through life experiences. For example, if you work an F&B job/ in the food industry, you understand how customer service works and gain those skills. If a customer orders something very specific and has odd requests, you will learn to comprehend the “ask”, determine if it’s possible or not, and then find a way to make the customer happy. If it isn’t possible, you might have to find a work around and ask follow up questions to get there or maybe it isn’t possible entirely and it’s your job to communicate that to them and still make them happy. This applies to all areas, the more exposure you get to events like these, the more experience you will ultimately get. These days, I try to work on these soft skills and hard skills together. If I’m working on build a new app or project, I try to incorporate comprehension, curiosity, and communication into the process. Hope this helped!
This is also a common behavioural interview question (i.e. tell me about a time where you received constructive criticism and what did you do from there)
Yess got it 👍🏻 thank you so much
Anytime!
Sir can you share your CV. so we get an idea which projects you made and how you presented them in your CV. THANK YOU

I am thinking of starting this certification, while still going to college is it worth it and will it help me gain more skills , and also will I get an entry level job and internship??? Please respond
I think that’s a good choice. This certification and that degree should help you stand out and also give you the overview of what skills and technologies to expect when working. The projects and labs within the certification should give you enough practice to build upon the fundamentals and then it’s up to you to put in the work and grow from there.
@@raneshguruparanthanks for ur answer . Please also respond to this question, should I take Google one or the ibm one? I would appreciate the answer, I am really interested in getting into data analyst role at entry level, and build my way up
I recommend the Google Data Analytics certification to start.
@@raneshguruparanthank you , and sorry if I keep asking questions. One final question I really have is do I need any prior experience? I never did data analytics, and I wanna do it because it fits my business degree field. Will I need any prior experiences or no?
With the Google Data Analytics certification, you don’t need prior experience
İ also make my google data alanytics certificate ❤❤❤
Congratulations!🥳

Hi buddy, could you make a video about how to write a resume for a no prior employment, 0 experience data analytics students looking for their first internship? How could we use available resources like university volunteer work, coursera certificates, porfolio projects to replace the experience part, which present in every resume sample found on the internet?
Sounds like a great video idea. I will keep that in mind. Thank you for the suggestion!
@@raneshguruparan I am so excited hearing that, looking forward to learning invaluable lessons from that video 😁😊
Thanks!
Ugh that's so interesting! I wish I was 21 again with fresh brain cells to learn data analytics tools. But time is running after me so I'm shifting towards accounting which I would still work with data, and an easier barrier to entry than data analytics now.
Thank you! I know a ton of people in accounting who are excellent at Data Analytics and have learned some tools to make the process much smoother
Excited to see more of this!!!
Thanks!
Hi Ranesh. What are the best months in the year to apply for a data analyst intenrship as a college student? I heard that the peak months for hiring in the tech industry is July, August. Do you think is it true from your experience? What is the chance of getting data analyst internship interview if I apply on October to December?
That's a great question. I don't know if there is a 'best time' to apply for internships, I think it all depends on your goals. If you are looking to land an internship for the Summer of 2025 and want to get a chance at a FAANG/MAANG company, you will probably have to start applying super early (Q3 of the year before). July through September I believe is when they do the most of their hiring and September is the peak (September Surge). If you are more flexible and don't mind smaller companies, they tend to start recruiting in Q1 of that same year (Jan - March). For context, I didn't start applying till Mid December and managed to get 8 offers and over a dozen interviews. My advice is to start applying as soon as you can (when you have a good enough resume) as this will allow you more time to make mistakes and iterate on your applications to make them better. Hope this helps!
Interesting project coming up. So, as a data scientist, are you the one who proposes new projects or they are assigned to you by a team coordinator/leader?
Usually 75% of my projects are assigned by PMs and I get to pick a personal project for professional growth etc
Slooooow down.
Thanks bud, will do!
Idea you going to work sounds interesting . good luck !!
Thanks!

Hi Ranesh, do you think it is possible to get a volunteering data analyst intership on my first year of Bachelor, if I have enough skills in SQL, Python, Excel, Tableau and did enough personal projects? I know a friend who got a software engineer internship during his high school, I don’t know whether data analytics has this opportunity.
I have this question because most people I know only get their first internship during their last year of Bachelor. But I want to apply early because I believe I learned enough skills through online courses.
Yes. Many people have internships coming from high school. It’s the independent learning that gives you the experience. A lot of people only get internships in their senior year because they wait and expect the school to teach them everything they need and not seek out that learning opportunity sooner. If you do put in the effort and learn Tableau, SQL, Python and gain that experience / skills, I am highly confident you can get an internship way sooner. Unpaid/volunteer jobs usually have a lower requirement too
Thank you Ranesh. Really helpful answer and video💕
Anytime! Hope you continue to find value with this channel
I want a place to start. I want to work online in America but live abroad. I am willing to continue to develop my skills with other training. I might only want contract opportunities later. I am from America and have no intention of living there. Great video. I wonder if I can start with the Python course first? Any thoughts? Also, I travel full-time. Can I take as long as I like on the course and go at my own pace?
Great questions ( I envy the digital nomad life). The general issue that I see when it comes to working in America while being abroad is 1) Tax Law and 2) Work authorization. Since you have work authorization (assuming you have work authorization in the US) you might want to look into tax obligations while being under a W2 in the US. Im not too familiar with contract work but I think that might be a possible work around. This career path is known for remote work so I am confident you will be able to find something that fits
Also by Python course, do you mean the Advanced Google Data Analytics course? If that’s the course you’re talking about, I recommend that course for those who have a background in programming and some fundamental understanding of data and data manipulation. If you are comfortable with the pre reqs, then I would strongly recommend it as it goes into advanced skills like Machine Learning and statistical testing methods you can apply in your day to day role. The skills you learn here closely align with a typical Data Scienctist role. I would definitely recommend taking your own time but there are certain assignments and quizes that have deadlines. I believe the deadlines are reasonable and the estimated time to complete the course is 6 months (I could be wrong).
@@raneshguruparan Yes I have been traveling for 4 years and this willl be my first time working outside of blogging. However we have a CPA in America and a business license etc.
@@raneshguruparan Yes, I was referring to the Advanced course. I have had some Python but it was a long time ago. I prefer working in Python. I was wondering if the course with R would be repetitive or unnecessary. However, I do prefer starting at the beginning if the courses build upon one another. Any thoughts? Also, do you prefer the IBM course over the Google course?
I also prefer Python as it’s more commonly used in the tech niche and with implementing ML models into production. It’s such a versatile language and very easy to learn so I wouldn’t worry about R vs Python too much. If you understand basic stats, have a decent understanding of data manipulation, have worked with datasets before, I think you should be able to start with the Advanced course.
Thanks for the info!
Anytime Brenda, hope you found some value!
Roll the points over but have them expire after about 90 days or so. this way it's fair to both the user and you.

My English speaking is so bad even i can't talk or communicate in English because i am from Hindi medium background now i want to know is doing data analyst worth it for me or not? Plz give genuine consideration 🙏
It depends on what your goal is. If you want to get a Data Analyst job in a primarily english speaking country then I would say consider focusing on learning English first. If you’re just trying to learn the skills and land a job in your present location with predominantly Hindi speaking employers, then I would focus on learning the skills of a Data Analyst.
I am from bcom tire 3 college i don't know what to do plz guide me what skills to learn?

Hey Ranesh, I am new to Data Science. Can i self-learn DS ? If yes is there any roadmap that you suggest. How do I find projects ot do? am not sure if i should join a bootcamp or not as i am being approached by a few ? I currently do some data analysis at work. Any suggestions
Hey Anish, yes you can definitely self learn Data Science if you are disciplined enough. I’ve made several videos on the topic: czcams.com/video/82EjzvUmzr4/video.htmlsi=mpO_MlpystnFTUot In terms of projects, here are some I recommend: czcams.com/video/8KrDrKwOlRA/video.htmlsi=I5s1x-Zj95zkp-1A I personally would stay away from Bootcamps unless they offer a job guarantee (be cautious with these too). An alternative to bootcamps are courses and certifications. Here are some I recommend. Google Data Analytics Certification: imp.i384100.net/zNqmGM Google Advanced Data Analytics Certification: imp.i384100.net/21Y0zO Google Business Intelligence Certification: imp.i384100.net/Vm0yEE IBM Data Science Certification: imp.i384100.net/4PKn0Z Andrew Ng Machine Learning Specialization: imp.i384100.net/Kj9d6x DeepLearning Specialization: imp.i384100.net/R5WnyX MLOps : imp.i384100.net/B0a9Wq
I hope this answered your question but if you have more specific questions, I encourage you to join our Discord server: discord.gg/8hxzKBMgV5
@@raneshguruparan Thanks ! for responding back. The bootcamps that approached did mention that they do offer a job guarantee. This makes me more confused as to if i should trust them or not as you mentioned to be cautious . What's your take on this ? Thanks
Generally, bootcamps are taught by two types of people. People who couldn’t make it in the industry and decided to teach instead or people who made it and decided to teach while actively being part of the industry / retired from working and just teach. I would only take part in a bootcamp from the latter but those usually cost anywhere from $10k-20k+ usd. Job guarantees are always good since it saves you that risk but sometimes they make it such that you have to give up a % of your salary to them. If you’re comfortable with all of the above, then I would say go for it because good bootcamps tend to have great networks that you can use for life. I’ve personally had several bootcamp companies reach out for collaboration or sponsorship but I just haven’t found a good enough one yet to recommend. If I do, I will let you know!
@@raneshguruparan Thanks for your reply. Appreciate your insights. One of the bootcamp that i was being approached was TripleTen. Let me know what your reviews are on them. Thanks
How much are earning bro plz reply.I am 17 and i am confused what degree to pursue🙏
If you’re asking how much I make, I started off below 6 figures and now I make close to double that. I plan to make a full video discussing salary progression so I will leave a link to that video here once it’s out. It’s hard for me to recommend what degree you should pursue (if any) since I don’t know your interests but if you’re solely looking at income, stem degrees tend to have a higher income post graduation. All the best!
Hey I'm a going into my sophmore year majoring in stats and minoring in cs. I couldn't get into my college's data science program, but do you think I could still get data science internships?
Hey! Personally, I think it’s better if you have a degree in statistics as a data science undergrad is probably only going to give you 40% cs, 40% stats/math and 20% random subjects. If you are able to dive deep into stats with school and learn cs/programming yourself or with your minor you should be equipped enough to succeed. From an employer standpoint, If your experience, skills and projects are strong, it doesn’t really matter what your degree is. I’ve hired people with economic degrees or even business degrees and they were the best Data Scientists/Analysts I have worked with. Hope this answers your question and all the best!
Your channel and content is awesome man!

Hi I'm from South Africa I'm currently doing Google Data Analytics Certificate on Coursera i would really want to secure a remote Data Analyst job in the US while in South Africa is it possible?
Hi, that’s great! Generally, without work authorization, it’s pretty tough to land a job within the US but companies do sponsor. I also know of contracting firms that hire internationals and contract them out to US based companies. Essentially, you would need to put in a lot of effort into honing your skills after completing the certification and also try to find specific companies that are willing to accommodate internationals (assuming you don’t already have authorization to work in the US).
Do i have to pay a separate fee to get cetificate after paying the course fee?
Nope, it should be included!
Hey..do one needs any special computer for coding
To get started no. Most computers can handle the computing power needed but as you scale and do more complex programming (i.e training certain ML models or processing massive amounts of data) then you might need an upgrade.

Hey Maxy, yes there is! Thank you for the feedback and I hope you stick around for future updates
How is this course for someone with no coding knowledge? I'm currently studying MBA and planning to become a data analyst
I would recommend this course for that exact audience. People who are unfamiliar with code/how to manipulate or understand data. It's an introductory course so pairing it with your MBA should be great!
@@raneshguruparan Thank you sir. By the way, "since it's an introductory course"....so I won't learn every tool from basic to advanced needed for data analytics ?
To learn every tool would take months maybe even years 😂 and I definitely don’t recommend it. Like I mentioned in the video the course goes over R, Google Sheets, Tableau, and SQL which are pretty commonly used in the industry and sufficient to go from an entry level position to something more senior. I prefer Python but once you learn R you can learn Python pretty easily. They do cover advanced concepts in statistics and Machine Learning in their Advance Google Data Analytics course which is more for Data Science / ML
Why would someone use your product idea over just GPT? Do you discuss this? If so what time?
Hey Adam, that’s a great question. I think someone asked something similar on our Discord server. The app im building utilizes OpenAi’s api among other APIs and algorithms. I spent quite some time trying to replicate my understanding of how ATS systems work and how companies use them so candidates can have the best chance. There are a couple steps that take place when you submit a job application digitally. The resume gets parsed, and based on that, they decide if you are worthy of a phone screen. The flowchart of my app is aimed to imitate that process and I have tested out various different open source resources and gen ai tools to help make the process of curating a catered resume for each application more straightforward and streamlined. You’re obviously welcome to use ChatGPT directly if you see fit or think the results are better. Also, here’s the most updated video on my app progress if you were curious : czcams.com/video/3L_fKwWS_go/video.html
Great question though I appreciate it. If you want to try the GPT route, I strongly recommend coming up with a good prompt and including the relevant job descriptions details to help get more actionable insights
@@raneshguruparan Thanks for answering. I must have missed the flowchart part of your app that imitates parsing the resume, unless that is yet to be shown? In any case, cool project!
Thanks Adam, and no you didn’t miss it. I’ll do a better job of depicting it in future videos.
nice video
Thanks bud!
I'm studing my masters in AI and i'm also working on building an app for my masters dissertation. I have zero knowledge on software development so i'm taking IBM's fullstack developers cerfication course this summer and i'm hoping by the end of summer, i have the skills i need to build the app. I'm so scared but i'm staying hopeful. I love you videos btw. Welldone.
Thats amazing! Everyone starts from nothing and if you got that far with formal education, I am confident picking up software dev should be easy for you.
