I just don't understand the gaping hole of characterization for Fury in this film. If Quentin really did work for Stark, Fury would have had intelligence on him. The moment he met Mysterio, he'd have done the full background check and knew everything. For him to just randomly place trust in someone is so out of character for him, especially in light of the fact Quentin admits how paranoid he is later in the film.
