From what I've read, Babbel doesn't do a good job of helping you actually learn to speak the language effectively. Great for flashcard type stuff or the type of review laid out in the video. Sadly, Rocket French is probably the way I'll have to go. I hear mixing Babbel and Rocket French together is a great option, but rather expensive. Thanks for the video!

I think that is a good tip! I will try. I am booked on a 12 hour flight to tokyo and they wanted 60 dollars each leg to chose my seat! I have never seen this on long haul flights that they charge for seats! On short haul i do not care. So lets see. I need to pee so often! Haha

I’m doing a little research to see if I should get this 1 year deal to learn spanish and you’re making it look so fun which is what learning should be! I always grow in reading spanish but get really shy with speaking in front of native speakers but it’s not because of them, it my on unnecessary insecurity! Hopeful this will help me build confidence and I can speak it overseas one day!

People don't tend to watch videos thinking "who is this? what makes them so interesting? why do they think we should listen to them?" CZcams videos are judged on whether they're interesting or boring. 99% of the time, if people are interested they'll watch and if you bore them they'll leave and never think about you again. When people judge you it usually comes down to that. Practically no-one judges you on why YOU think what you have to say is interesting or important. The other 1% of the time people watch videos they find boring but the person making the video has a nice voice that's easy to fall asleep to. You've had over a million views and your voice, while very nice, isn't one to fall asleep to.

I just found your channel today from CZcams's algorithm system. I've been studying languages since the sheltering in place started and recently started learning French. My thinking on languages is you have to find your point(s) of motivation. If you can find a way to keep it fun, that helps there too. As far as CZcams goes, my thought would be to just keep it authentic. Something special to you. That often appeals to me more than any specific content. I just subscribed to your channel so you must be doing something right. :) It's good to hear you are doing better. Take care.

I’m from Germany 🇩🇪 and learning Russia 🇷🇺 since we have 2 Ukraine 🇺🇦 refugees at home. So I gave Babbel a try. My parents are from Kazakhstan 🇰🇿, where you generally speak russia but we live in Germany so I had never to learn Russia until now. I will definitely set up a German Babbel account for both of the refugees! I can’t Wait for uncountable questions about „der, die and das“. It’s hard af when you didn’t grow up with the German language haha

Try italki, Aurella. I used it for my German and went from barely being able to string sentences together to having decent conversations. It's low stress, you can pick tutors that suit your style, and you end up having a fun conversation first and learning as a by-product.

These days, I view my French learning as a relationship to cultivate, rather than a goal to complete. I'm having a really good time just focusing on watching French CZcams, Tv shows and books.
