Why do the solo woodwind flutes only go up to G5?
The live recording really brings the track to life!
the key switches are not showing
You are amazing! Wonderful demonstration!
😊 thank you!! So happy this was useful 👍
I still see limited utility for using Berlin Studio with Berlin Orchestra but putting the flute in Telex really works well. For me, something more useful would be putting Beaufort in Teldex as that is the standard hall for the Berlin series which I use.
Yes absolutely - Berlin Studio is great to have in your arsenal if you're blending libraries and are using any of the Berlin series. I did add a tiny bit of it to the Berlin Orch tracks, mostly because it allowed me to get more out of the mix mic position. But ofc if you're using the full Berlin series you've got many mic positions to choose from. I've also used it with Beaufort as you suggested - close mics, plus Berlin Studio and it blends right in!
Does sine player? still have mod wheel dynamics?
❤❤❤ i love it great work!!!
Thanks so much! 🙈🙏🙏
would love a more in depth tutorial/walthrough of this reverb. have owned it for months now still i never use it because i do not know how to use it on my instruments to make it sound ok, it always sounds too big , dark or washed out for me. i know we could probably tweak it i guess. i'd just like to see someone use this on instruments from scratch, not just show us what they already did. Like initialize the preset, make a horn section fit into a mix. , do same thing for woodwinds, then strings. no one is doing this sort of thing. it's always just ppl showing what they already did and this is not helping me learn how to mix at all and this plugin still not being used in my mixes.
Thanks for the feedback, next time I'm mixing with this I'll try and cut up some sections for this type of content 👍
This level of flute playing is like having a mockup cheat code. Amazing performance and sound!
😂 I actually don't tend to use that much flute in my tracks for that reason - don't want to become reliant on it! But it's definitely handy to have it up my sleeve 🪄
@@clairewritesmusic By all means, keep using it! The fact that the samples hold up to your playing is a huge testament to their quality. You are brilliant, Claire, OT is lucky to have you on board!
Those live flute and piccolo recordings dramatically elevate the piece. Don’t get me wrong, Orchestral Tools makes great sample libraries; but nothing beats a great performance. The reverb helps the tracks seem like they were recorded in the same space.
😅 thanks so much - my studio isn't a treated room (yet - hopefully one day!) so getting any recordings in there to sound anything like teldex feels like a huge achievement 😁🙏
Does anyone know if this is a good library for someone looking to upgrade from Native Instruments' Symphony Series? Is this on par with or better than Spitfire's BBC offering? Thanks for any response.
It's a question of taste regarding the sound. BBCSO feels more real, you smell the sweat of the musicians, while Orchestral Tools sounds more perfect. But even OT's new string legato is not as smooth as the old BBC string legato to me personally. For that reason I don't use their strings.
@@ASX2001 Thanks for that excellent answer. Spitfire do make very good libraries. I have their Chamber Strings Essentials, and they are very good indeed (I'll definitely be upgrading that library). I also have their BBC Discover Orchestra, and as someone who's a relative newbie to orchestration, I find it pretty educational-especially when it comes to instrument positioning. I was wondering whether to go for Albion One, but I'm guessing BBCSO is a better all-rounder?
@@nads5907 Albion One is perfect, when You want fast results, ready to play combinations of instruments, but I don't use it - because of that ;-)) When You're a "serious" beginner, then You want to put hands on each single instrument and find Your own combinations. Takes a little longer but is much more satisfying. In the end it's Yours. When You're a fan of BBC Discover, it's an easy decision. I was happy with BBC for years, also worked with the Cinematic series, but went back to the good old Spitfire Symphonic Orchestra after the big update. Love it. Lots of instruments, articulations, the great sound of the Air Lyndhurst hall... but so much choice might discourage You. :-))
Berlin Orchestra any day! Huge selection of articulations, and individual players. BBCSO is quite limited compared to BO.
@@clarenceoveur9497 You mean Berlin Series, that's true. But Berlin Orchestra is just a small extract of these libraries, not much articulations.
Super useful video! Exactly what I was asking you in the comments in other video on CZcams 😊 Thank you, Claire & OT team ❤
Ah great, so happy to hear that 😁 do you usually use Berlin Orchestra?
@@clairewritesmusic I started adding it in my template, but… the new project will come this week, so I’ll be sooo busy in it, so it seems like I’ll be adding Berlin Studio only after this project 😄 Maybe during it, I’m not sure… 🙈🙈🙈
@@cherrysound haha no way you can mess with a template mid project, that's just too much adrenaline 😂
@@clairewritesmusic Yes, it is so 🤣🤣🤣
When I got to 4:16 I seriously thought you had snuck in a sample of shattering glass for some kind of dramatic effect... Had to go back and re-listen to it a few times to realize that noise was actually from the violin, lol.
I've been doing this for a year and a half now. You guys are givin away all of the good secrets. :/
❤❤❤
Can you please make a video of someone from OT (maybe Hendrik? ☺️☺️☺️) using them both in context? 😁
Keep your eyes peeled 👀
So, what happens if we already own Berlin Studio reverb? Couldn’t find the answer in the FAQs.
Unfortunately, then you are not eligible for this promotional offer.
I didn't even know there was an IR for Teldex (to be fair, I never looked.) I already have the Berlin series, but I'll definitely be picking up Berlin Studio. Such a great sound.
So the obvious question is that since Berlin Studio allows you to place your libraries in Teldex and the Berlin Orchestra was recorded in Teldex, so why this bundle? P.S.: Berlin studio does a great job of putting other non-Berlin libraries in Teldex--I use it all the time for this purpose.
I think your P.S. answers the original question :3 I was a little confused at first too. The bundle seems to be for people who have other libraries or live recordings they want to blend with the Teldex sound, but DON'T already have an orchestral library recorded in Teldex. Which I feel like is going to be a small number of people among the crowd that will ever see this trailer, but as always, I hope it does well.
There's another reason why this might be useful. The Berlin Berklee version that this comes with has a default mic mix that you can't change, that blends tree and close mic for every instrument. It is a very strange mic mix IMO, and can make the orchestra all feel very equidistant, as though the strings and brass and winds are all crammed into the same small part of a large stage. If I only had this library I would need to add reverb to the brass etc to push them back and get that sense of front-to-back instead of just having an equidistant wall of instruments. Berlin Studio could potentially work for that.
Well, it's a great *price* for these great tools. Not sure why you'd want to use a Teldex verb on a library recorded in that space other than to make it a little wetter sounding. But I'd recommend Berlin Orchestra at this price to anyone looking for their first hobbyist / semi-pro level library!
It's for blending other instruments into Teldex for a more unified sound.
@@artemakmulin2563 That does make sense!
Thanks for the lovely feedback. Berlin Studio is definitely a useful tool to get a wetter sound from Berlin Orchestra, but it's also perfect for blending Teldex into other collections, or even your own organic recordings!
Don’t forget about OT’s dry sounding libraries such as Nocturne Violin & Cello or some of the Creative Soundpacks - it was my dream to have such a reverb to put them in one space with Berlin series libraries ❤️🔥
You use the verb to put everything else in the teldex scoring stage, also it has the individual mic positions for each orchestral section. Like the reverb reacts to where the first violins sit. Get it. It's the best thing ever made.
Does this library blend well with Tom Holkenborg’s Brass?
If so, which specific ensembles/instruments would work best together?
I wish the tuba and bass trombone had been sampled individually so we could use them in octaves. It also seems a bit strange to not include a solo tenor trombone. I guess corners had to be cut to meet a target sales price or what?
We appreciate the feedback, and you're entitled to be disappointed with aspects of the collection, who knows - we may even return to it one day. But, the choice of instrumentation in Beaufort was stylistic, and not driven by a desire to cut corners or to meet a sales price.
Which expression controller is he using?
Sweet sounds, it's remember me Jurassic park music 🎶💕👍👌💖🇮🇳🙏
Thanks for listening
i love this music
Actually seems like there's something wrong with the legato at 7:21 onward. Will this be corrected with an update?
There's an error in the chapter titles for the video - the Mic Merge feature has become the "McMooch" feature. 😆
This is why I invested in OT they always up their game!
The rhythm of this song is so infectious. I can't help but move my body to the beat every time it comes on.
This track has such a nostalgic vibe to it. It reminds me of simpler times and brings back so many memories.
This sound is incredible! I can totally hear being able to play the indiana jones theme or parts of the jurassic park theme with those trumpets. And the french horns a4, WOW, so agile and exactly the sound I want. My wallet ...... but honestly at least if I do buy I'll get better value than I feel I've gotten with spitfire. Also this was recorded in air studios, which is a HUGE plus for getting that film sound out of the box.
OT has some of the most creative niche libraries of all as well, from TIME to GRIMM each I’ve used is a great pallet for soundtracks as well as abundantly useful for ‘New Music’ or the term de jour for “non monetary music”. Art? Dare I say it OT is the leader for Art creation in its world?
I search for useful strings. I have bbc pro, musio, EastWest, hundreds of libraries and string libraries but never wanted to Spend what comes to $2,000 in CAD for strings like Berlin strings. THEN I figured out you can buy the individual instruments for about $100. As said I have access to all the orchestra I need from my libraries but strings are the electric guitarist of a soundtrack. I am so happy OT offers this, I immediately bought the flagship Berlin Strings Violins 1 for when I need fidelity or intimacy, then went further and bought a few strings from different selections. My first few were Berlin vln1 and a similar sounding one with more modern articulations, then ark4 “transcendental strings” because of the very alternative articulations and options it adds. The only downside is OT sticks out against Spitfire. One is woody, strong, you can smell the cloud of rosin- the other is more buttery and gentle. Often this is fine. If the Vln is doing the primary line then the supporting strings essentially automatically unmask the primary line because their timbre spectrums peak and completely different points. I don’t know if I’ll ever buy a full anything from OT (other than cool sets like TIME or the Amber dropped a fourth quartet) but just get articulations I need as I go
I have tested this library for some time now and can in all honesty say that it is fantastic. There are so many good drum libraries out there but this library is on another level. The quality of the samples, especially in the lower velocity range is just unbelieveable and the best I´ve ever heard, so far. But dont let that fool you. The library can get LOUD and still sounds crazy good. Highly recommended!
However many years using sine and I literally didn't know that's what that was for lmao
It's bye-bye to Spitfire. The only point to buy their products was the tone quality. Now we have the same tone but with, well, programming, because Spitfire essentially don't have that, at all.
Can't wait to see OT do a string library in air studios.
Beautiful library!💚
Spitfire is losing its most precious place, Long live Sine Player 🗣️💥
Been using it for a few ours. You’ve outdone yourself, orchestral tools!
Thank you!
Just wanna say that the dude's voice on these videos is great. Reminds me of NYC public radio announcer John Schafer, who for years was instrumental in introducing some of the best/newest composers and musicians since the 1980's. Very soothing sound. Best of luck.
JunkieXL is still by far THE best brass library out there
This sounds like a great complement to recently released and revamped Spitfire SSO recorded in the same hall :)
I just bought this library and sincerely; this is the best Brass library I ever had. Thanks so much for this amazing work.
Wow - that's high praise, thank you for your support.
Great work! I hope this library helps composer bring up again the classical adventure brass sound. I'm tired of the hyperprocessed trailer sound.
Thank you for the kind words, we're glad you like the sound.
2:22 Fanfare for a Common Man detected
Sounds perfect. Thank You for that library!
Our pleasure!
Spitfire: This is my recording studio! OT: This is your recording studio? Spitfire: Yep! This is my recording studio OT: OT: This is my recording studio
As a long time trumpet player in Hollywood and etc., this is pretty good. I usually do all of my own tracks myself, but this sounds like you got the attack much better than others I have heard. I really listen to the attacks, since sometimes these types of brass sound synthetic to me. I will explore further. Also the Cresc. to the next lines are a great idea.
Thank you for the lovely feedback :)
@@Orchestral-Tools I know what I'm talking about having worked in orchestras, studio sessions etc.
@@Orchestral-Tools I have some question about the ability to get separation where needed in the detache parts like breaths which is so important to my ear and experience. There has been some discussion on VI-Kontrol about that
I'm impressed! I want to know the why another brass library when you already released Tom Holkenborg's Brass. What are the difference of Beaufort and Tom Holkenborg's Brass? Also, does Beaufort mix well with other libraries recorded in Teldex Studio? I had some libraries from Spitfire Audio recorded in Air Studio but they did not mix well with other libraries, so I stopped using them...
Thank you for your question. The why is pretty simple, we really wanted a brass collection that captures that classic Hollywood adventure style. In our opinion, so much of that comes down to the initial attack on the notes, and some specific dynamic articulations - so when we had the opportunity to record those things with some of the most sought-after British brass players who specialize in that sound (amongst others), we couldn't pass it up. Lyndhurst Hall is a medium-sized room, just like Teldex, and there's enough consistency in quality and technique across the engineering of OT collections that Beaufort will blend smoothly with a Teldex collection like Berlin Brass, and the same for non-brass collections like Berlin Strings etc etc.
@@Orchestral-Tools Thank you so much for the reply! After watching the walkthrough reading the reply, I recalled some moments where I couldn't make my brass sound punchy like this. Seems like this library can finally solve the problem. Thank you for another great library!
John Williams Style is finally happening! Awesome for this new library!
Thank you!
@@Orchestral-Tools You're welcome! Let's hope one day there's a new Woodwinds Library for similar inspiration like Beaufort. ^^
