Does Onward's Stereo Sound Change Like MOOD?? And How Does Tap Tempo Work? Does It Take MIDI Clock??

Tap Tempo/MIDI Clock topic begins at 8:39 A lot of questions have arisen about the @ChaseBlissAudio Onward, in both the areas of stereo sound (both incoming and outgoing), as well as how it does tap tempo or MIDI clock. • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative Před 9 dny

      Great question! I think that depends on what you’re looking for. Both the Slöer and Dark Light are great pedals, as is the MercuryX, but they all have disadvantages as well as advantages. Slöer has presets but not midi or expression Dark Light doesn’t have presets but does have expression. It’s also a weird kind of stereo. Hard to explain but kind of like a dual mono with stereo spread unless you put the Dark on one side and Light on the other. MercuryX has everything and then some but can be a little complex to dive into. MercuryX can’t do dual reverb as of right now, which would be a possibility with buying both the others. Obviously our presets for the MercuryX are available and would give you jump start into all these sounds on the MercuryX Hope that helps?

    I would hate it if this was a listener's only exposure to the sounds of Onward... I think you really do the pedal a disservice by only demonstrating what it sounds like on "full error." It really is capable of so much more (as you may have demonstrated elsewhere).

    I find the onward to sound not very musical but way too digital. I don't get the hype. the outward had mor interesting stuff going on, but was too complicaated, noisy and not well designed. But it was cheaper. Its a 500 bucks delay and freeze pedal. Not a single demo sounds very musical or displays convincing use cases.

      @@thepedalcollaborative I don't think so. The capabilites are just pretty limited. The Freeze function was just one mode of many in the outward and while I love it, I think it could have been taken to another level. The glitch side is also limited in its behaviour and musicality. Everything has this piercing digital sound. There is no way of dialing more vibey stuff. I do own the lossy, mood, gen loss, microcosm and others. I think this release is quite the rip-off.

      @@tokiboi6777 I disagree. Glitch side can do many things from different types of patterns, rhythms, glitches, and even act as a delay. Also in this video they have the texture set all the way left, which is giving it a bright bit-crushing sound and obviously going to sound more piercing / digital. Playing with the size and the sensitivity, and also the ducking and sustain brings in a lot of musicality for both sides, then throw in the dip switches and reverse the glitch side and use the 1/2 dip switch and even more options!

    There are a few things this pedal solves. Andy uses an expression pedal to control the level on the regular Halo. This removes that need by providing a huge knob you can turn with your foot. This also gives a visual indication of the current setting. The freeze function was also an additive freeze on the original model. Anytime you’d freeze something, everything you play after it stacks on and freezes too. This one acts like a normal freeze. Granted, the delay effect turns off when you use it. I’ll still use the regular halo on my main board. This one can sit on my secondary mini board.

    I view the CC as four multi-effect pedals with no overlap in a single pedal switcher, all tempo-synced with Korg-style gesture recording, and a looper in the switcher set to be first or last in the chain. I’ve made similar setups with lots of pedals, but it’s never been quite what I wanted. The CC is super simple, compact, flexible, and limiting, all at the same time - I absolutely love it. Exactly what I’ve been looking for in a pedal for a long time. Nice technique of setting something up and then switching to different effects, changing the effect order, etc. while retaining the gestures. It adds a sense of discovery to the CC and the sound design process. It was a great call by Hologram to not ship it with a ton of presets. I’d rather do what you did: find something new and save that. Nice work.

    • @thepedalcollaborative
      @thepedalcollaborative Před 17 dny

      I still have my EUNA, but that’s more because of the effects loop it has. In the most basic sense, a buffer just drives the signal. The EUNA highlights certain frequencies as it does (depending on your settings). A clean boost or EQ pedal or anything else than can increase the volume can drive your signal. Is a buffer really that different than a boost or transparent OD?

      @tendingtropic7778 oh I don’t know about that! I’m sure a pedal builder could jump in here and correct things if need be.
