EUNA or Buffer or Neither!?! Can You Hear a Difference? Or Is It Just Snake Oil??

- We’ve all been down this road before. This voodoo magic of buffers. Do they really make a noticeable difference in our sound? Often times we use them to help restore tone lost over a long signal chain, but today we’re testing out the sonic noticeability with a very small set up. Utilizing the FX Loops in the @line6movies HX Stomp and the @29Pedals EUNA (Elite UNity Amplifier), we’re able to test out the EUNA vs the @foxpedals K Buffer…or use neither at all and just use the HX Stomp!
What differences do you hear? Do you hear any at all? Do you have an answer before you even listen? 🤔 We all do it, but let’s be open minded and see what we hear!
NOTE: the 29 Pedals EUNA is being run off 18v of power from the @fender Engine Room LVL 12

Haven't tried a EUNA yet, but I recently did a lot of back and forth between no buffer, a cheap one, and a Fender Level Set. Sticking with the Level Set as it sounds (feels?) better than the alternatives I tried, plus has some conveniences like level control to adjust for different guitars/basses, a "hi freq" control to bring back some zing when needed, and a mute footswitch. Again, don't know how it compares to EUNA, but it's an affordable option!
I haven’t tried it but affordable options are great all around !!
EUNA owner here. Great pedal. Make all other pedals come alive. Specially useful with long pedalboards
It really shines in long pedal runs! Even stereo ones!
Looks like I am going to have to get the internals for the PCB I got for the Euna clone, I heard the owner was ticked about those being made 🤣 I mean I get, it's a unique thing, but I am also broke.
I’d be surprised if a clone can recreate this. May get close, but how close! 🤷🏻
Jesse (29 Pedals) is a cool guy, so I’m happy to support him and encourage others as well. I do get the broke thing though! Part of being into pedals though 🤣

@@thepedalcollaborative Completely agree on the stereo OAMP. I’m currently using a Boss stereo EQ200 at the end of my chain.

I’ve had Euna on my board since it came out. I swear by it
It’s incredible! I wish it had the ability to split to stereo out. It CAN drive a mono to dual mono split, but MISO would be sweet!!!
But it’s also great just the way it is!!! I love mine
I run stereo also and that would be dope as hell.m, by Ike you said still an awesome device

Haven’t tried the OAMP yet although I have no doubt it’s amazing. I’m waiting with baited breath in hopes of a stereo version 🤞
It can’t go into stereo? Is it worth it if you are mono setup you think? Also is it necessary to still get a buffer when having the EUNA? Thank you for all your help sir.
@gabrieladdenbrooke1964 OAMP has mono I/O so for a stereo system you’d need 2.
Whether getting an OAMP as well as a. EUNA would most likely depend on if you feel you signal is missing anything at the end of your chain. Like the EUNA, the OAMP is an amplifier, so if you’re losing clarity and frequencies then it might not be a bad idea
I got banned from r/guitarpedals for defending the honor of Euna. Never leave home without it. Buffers/boosts/EQ even low gain OD's are hard to demonstrate because a lot of their value seems to be enhancement of "feel". A good one will seem to connect you to your guitar to your amp somehow better than without it. Euna and my favorite boost Audio Kitchen The Small Trees both affect the "feel" while also coloring, adding depth to just my clean tone...which of course enhances every pedal that comes down the line.
I leave home without mine, you know, to go to stuff like the grocery store and whatnot, but man! Getting banned from r/guitarpedals!!! 😱 Those folks are no joke…and often can’t take a joke.
