DOC here in NZ have aloud thermals to be used on public land where your standard hunting permit is aloud. We take one out to see how it goes and are blown away with its effectiveness!

Multi day trip episode 2, Kane & Eden head deeper into the alps and find themselves bagging a Chamois and an old stag that could hardly keep up with his hinds. The trip out sees us battling through some wind/snow throw bush with heavy loads. Stay tuned for some breathtaking scenery and great tops hunting action!

Kane and his son Eden head south to the Lewis pass area to hunt Red stags in the rut. With an awesome weather window they hit the tops and get into some great areas and as a bonus find a nice mature stag to shoot after getting fogged in for half the day.

This is a blast from 2013 when we had a trail camera in the lower Ohane block capturing footage to use in a DVD we were working on. We managed a couple of deer while we quickly picked up the camera.

Used the Berger VLDH, will pencil through if closer ranges (still kills, but expansion obviously not there) - but great longer distance. Opted for Sako Gamehead Softpoint for up close bush hunting.
Hey boys mean vid really putting in the ks with the hunting now. Yer think its a good thing doc has let thermals in gets hunters more time to identify there target. But on negative you spend a lot of time looking at hot rock deer and hot tree deer 😂😂

Try the new sytong range just had a go on the 38mm they are incredible blew my old pulsar out of park.And they use the 18650 batteries same as the led Lenser torches.
They're definitely a game changer for glassing.

Nice how many times have you been there how many hrs to walk in ?
Never been there before and It took 3 days for us to get there to that spot.
Only looks about 10km on the map must be hard walking through that thick bush and dead trees looks easier to come in from the other side ?

My dream was to hunt in New Zealand my grandfather hunted wapiti and Royal Red deer trout tickling as well and salmon fishing , he was from Dunedin the garden city, I hunt in Australia both my grandfather’s were hunters and keen fishermen outdoorsmen, I’ll Pass on my family traditions to my grandchildren just as my grandfathers did for me ! You commented that he was an old stag. How old do you think he was? He only looked 4-5 to me???
Yeah I wish we had kept the lower jaw. His coronets were so low on his skull that around the back of his antlers the skin had grown over and above his coronets. I was guessing over ten yrs by his facial features and the way he walked etc. I’d be keen to hear what other guys think.

Hey mate, yes they have a lot of energy! If you make it fun for them they learn quick but I need to put a lead on him when we are stalking as foxies love to chase. Other than that just plenty of time in the bush. If anyone else has any thoughts let’s us know.

Great vid, really enjoyed that. I was in nth Canterbury as well that weekend. Did a similar kind of walk in trip over 6 days just didn't capture it on film anywhere nearly as good as you guys. Great country down there. Makes you want to go back again and again.

Shot 3 stags, too many in there to be fair.were never going to be trophies. Was told by the local chopper pilot I should've shot more. Too many hunters looking for the big trophy.
