As a half Thai & White, I want to tell my story. My parents don't love each other, they just tolerate their marriage. Sounds nice to some, but for me it wasn't. They never showed affection or love, my mom changes her personality 180° when she's in public, laughing and hugging my dad, at home she doesn't care sh about him. The only time she's happy is when she calls her friends or siblings from Thailand. They barely talk, and have completely different opinions on... basically everything. Her family or friends from Thailand are the same. They are not nice at all to their husbands (or wife), and are extremely harsh and loud, and have manners that I can't stand. As a kid I was jealous of the white moms, they said things like "my kids are the most important", or looked genuinely affectionate to their kids & husbands. If I was born as a white guy, I would suggest you to look for a white "country" girl. You think East Asian women are the best, that's because you have never heard them talk in private. Don't bring up kids in loveless marriages.

You're not irreparably damaged - we can all grow so much, no matter where we start or if we feel we're behind in life. Earlier this year I was feeling the same, but I came to the realization that at some point I would have to put the past behind me and move forward with what I do have. I'm don't mean to 'get over it', because this new reality and its causes are very difficult to accept (young people are basically going through the grieving process). Ey Gerby, Jan here. Wanted to tell you about making friends/friendsgroup in colleges, since that's what you axed. Now I'm polish, and I study in Poland, EU also. And as it stands right now, I don't have much real friends over there. Now on one hand yes, it is "my fault" although I sure fuckin tried making friends in there. But halfway in to the semester I realized that either my efforts were too little, and I should have tried harder. But I also believed that the very fact of trying and putting conscious effort into getting them was a bad strategy. On the other hand however, at least in the year I went to the people have made their own little groups, just like there were in my High school days. Could be that I was super unfortunate, but the hiarchy prevailed. It also could be maybe that people that made up the year were approximately 1-2 years younger than me, but I doubt that that is the reason. Maybe you'll make something out of it, peace

I didn't attend a four year college. I went to community college instead. Economically, it was a good choice, but I was socially cooked during and now after community college. All of my close friends are either from high school or childhood and there isn't anymore of a social community or network anymore (aside from my parents and one sibling). Even 3rd places such as bars and restaurants are pretty much exclusive these days. I mean, aside from work, hiking with old friends from high school, and hitting the gym; I don't see anywhere else that these "3rd places" can be easily accessed like our parents and grandparents. It's gonna be interesting, but tough going into 2030.
