Bacterial Vaginosis vs Trichomoniasis | Differences between Bacterial Vaginosis and Trichomoniasis
Bacterial vaginosis is caused by excessive growth of vaginal bacteria, while trichomoniasis is caused by a type of parasite. These are two completely different organisms with different physiologies and modes of reproduction. Significantly, trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted infection.

Boric acid vaginal suppositories 300mg or 600mg of intravaginal BA to be used 2-3 times per week are considered safe and sometimes used to treat recurrent bacterial vaginosis (BV) when combined with antibiotics like Metronidazole . An extended course of metronidazole treatment (500 mg twice daily for 10-14 days) is recomended for recurrent Bacterial Vaginosis
