The humidity in my Jify seeding tray is way to high. Any suggestions? Also, Some of the pods look really wet while other look really dry.
@whoDatBeDare A common occurrence. You may have unevenly filled the tray or it was not level so a few pods are dry others too wet. What I've done is quickly remove the dome and dump all of the evaporated water out. Dry off the dome... then isolate the very dry pods and drop a few teaspoons of water on each. Then let the tray sit uncovered for a day or two until the overly saturated pods evaporate..then Replace the cover. Then next day repeat cover & moisture removal ...but replace cover. If they still look too wet....keep cover partly open. As long as the pods are moist seeds will germinate. If too wet they won't.
@@Jimswholiestofcoleus Thanks again.
Give them more time. Worse case reseed after the pods become less saturated.
Why dont all flowers have leaves like this? Like a Dahlia with leave like these.... that would be the cats meow :)
@MrWolfheart111 So True!!! Well they can't All be so!!!
I used Bunn coffee machines in the Navy for 22 years. They're used onboard ships, which is one of harshest environments you can imagine, and I've never seen one break (this is literally after running 24/7 for years). I've been using Cuisinarts since I retired 20 years ago, but minor engineering changes to the Cuisinarts are starting to get on my nerves, so I've talked it over with the wife and we're going Bunn. I generally distrust 'consumer' gear, so the VP-17 looks like just the ticket. I think I'm going to get tricky with the spout screw. I'll buy a couple, but then purchase some stainless bolts of the correct size and thread that I can drill out to come up with different strengths.
This was a great reminder to trim my coleus, thanks 👍
@@sterre9 Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!!
Any specs or make n model of he 3 head grow light?
a.co/d/a7FaLaw There are quite a few varieties...two TO 4 arm as well.
@@Jimswholiestofcoleus Champion!
when you start do you keep the larger led full spectrum on 24/7 like the others?
YES. ...I keep all the LED Grow lights on 24/7 for the first few weeks. Once All seeds are well germinated I do two things. Discontinue heat mats and switch my timer to go off at 10pm and back on at 6am....8 hours of "rest" for the Germinations.
@@Jimswholiestofcoleus Thanks so much.

@@peterlouglas2015 And I still have both ears!!
Thanks man! 1st timer. Planted from seed & have so many coleus! Appreciate the tips.
Appreciate your watching!! Growing Coleus from Seed is the Best!!!
I grow a lot of Coleus and donate them to various non-profits for their fund-raising plant sales. I'm careful to pinch off the apical flower stalks as they appear but frequently that results in 2 or more flower stalks developing from the lower nodes. Should I just keep pinching these lateral buds off as well? Do the plants ever stop producing these? I have a large heated greenhouse and will be keeping many of my plants indoors over the winter so I can get a head start on growing in the spring. Many thanks for your help!
Yes there are some Varieties which are heavy seed stalk producers. Pinching off I don't believe stimulates other nodes but I know many of my heavy producers just relentlessly produce new stalks.
You should link your ebay in the description or pinned comment so we can get to it easy
Thanks ! I absolutely do when my Listing goes active. Here's my page belowv www.ebay.com/usr/jimscoleus
@Jimswholiestofcoleus thank you! I did try to find you on ebay and couldn't, which is why I left the comment in the first place. Thanks again!
@Catzbe All Good!! I always appreciate input... Im not the most Advanced CZcams creator.... other times I'm pressed for time. Appreciate it!!
Am I crazy or do the 100 series stop coming with the 3rd rack?
I believe all Series 100 & up have the top utensil rack except for the smaller 24" it appears. All & All still a Great Dishwasher All these years ...still going strong!
I just have a question. I had a Kong Mosaic last year and I cut the flower off and put it down in the pot and I probably have 20 plants that came up but they are not as colorful. What do I need to do?
@reddhottsc1557 In the wild this is how Coleus regenerate...why they are technically considered Perennial. It is very likely that the seeds within the flower stalk you cut were not mature. The stalks need to be on at least 30 plus days ....getting pollinated and allowing the seeds to fully mature. Experiment and let seed stalks stay on as long as you can....they will start to brown on the bottom. That's a key sign your seeds are perfectly matured.
Hi Jim, I have grown a beautiful coleus from seeds I have never seen it anywhere before would love to get your opinion on what to do with sharing this fantastic sport that I wish I could share here. thanks Rich
@richiezed Hey Rich you can share it on my " Jim's Wholiest of Coleus " Instagram page or Facebook page. Very Cool
No worries about some of your coleus not responding to bloom-booster applications, Jim. Some varieties are only triggered to flower by cooler temps and the shorter days of Fall. 👍🏻
@Holy.Moly.Coley. Hey Sher' you know That makes sense!!! I read or probably was told here that some of the " Better" Coleus seed very late by one of my regulars here besides you of course!!! I guess that doesn't apply to Mosaic then!! 😆
Have you had any success rooting leaves? I couldn't believe it actually worked with a large Empire Kong that you sold me the seeds from recently. Gorgeous plant so it broke my heart to have to take off large leaves to let the ones lower down get some light. On impulse I stuck it in some water and it rooted! ps: I hope you'll do a video on rooting your prunings midseason -- which is what I'm doing because I didn't plant nearly enough seeds (as usual).
The large coleus collection at the end of your video is just gorgeous. You have such beautiful containers. It's mid August already and we are talking about harvesting seeds. It's an ongoing process. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge and experience with us. I'm always learning something new and useful.
Lol!! I'm almost as bad as the Stores....I should have put out my Halloween Decorations!!😅😂😂 Thanks for watching!!
Hey Jim, whenever you pan through your various large coleus like you did at the end of this video, do you think you could edit in the name of each variety shown to help us learn the names of the various types? This was a quite uncomfortable summer for me weather wise. As you know I am in NJ also a little further north.... and I felt like I was living in Texas with the long heat waves this summer. Then finally we get some rain but it lasts all week. Now I see mildew showing up on some of my squash plants. Next year I think I will cut back on my garden so I don't need to be out in the heat so much.
Hey Pat sure will. I'll put together a little montage video showing my Coleus with variety type. Yes it's been a tough Summer...but im lucky here in Bay Head that the temps have averaged 10° Cooler and there's been a cool Ocean breeze to boot. But past 8-10 days have been wet, overcast and stormy.
@@Jimswholiestofcoleus I appreciate it that you will take my request. I know it will be very helpful to me and others in learning to identify the plants.
😎☀ Woke up to nothing but sunshine today. Finally!! High of 84. Wonderful. Some of my plants are "seeding". I decided to leave some for seeds too. Others I will just keep cuttings. Everyone, Yes JIM"S seeds are just what he says. Buy them, you will not be disappointed. 😄
Yes and a gorgeous Warm evening. Going to take my motorcycle to Ortley Beach Barnegat Bay and watch the Sunset tonight.
Listen the song Don Carlos - Mr sun
The first one we see, is the "Space-Cake" coleus?
Great info thanks
😃 😊 Thank you for watching!!
How's the salt and rust affected the bike?
@ericroman9126 Being at the NJ Shore particularly being 2 blocks in from the ocean plus riding the Ocean front I've had zero salt related rust or corrosion problems. But I do keep her clean especially any of the exposed metal. One thing that I have to attribute that to is the fact that the Morphous is built SOLID....Theres No cheap pot metal or inferior materials used for example the handlebars and rear seat brace both are SOLIDLY CHROME PLATED.... Zero pitting. The wheels are super quality Powder coating. The engine components either stainless or top quality high strength Aluminum. THE MORPHOUS IS MADE WITH INCREDIBLY HIGH QUALITY MATERIALS!!!
@@Jimswholiestofcoleus I know Sea Girt. My dad was Army National Guard for a long time and I used to go to the youth camp there. I'm in Bridgewater myself.
Are there coleus that are more winter-hard than others?
@bomboclatgardener4490 I think that the heartiest varieties in my experience were the best candidates for Rootings and Overwintered Coleus. But the most important thing is that you have a location which gets an abundance of Sunlight.
Thanks, I just bought 2 Gizza. I'll check them out myself and send them back if not liking them.
I'm sure you'll love them. Also remember when you get them & unravel....stick them in the dryer to fully fluff. When you do wash them DO NOT use Fabric Softner
Hi friend!
@@naegwut Hi Nanette 👋!! Great to hear from you!!
Trimming is important! First year of Colues down, they didnt die off in the winter here in Florida, lost most of them this summer! Since first year with them I let them go in variety of stages. many in ground, many left in pots, some I trimmed, some I just let run wild. Have a massive one in the corner of the house that gets enough shade its just massive after a year but the rain really beats on it with no gutters, its stems are all twisted. Colues while delicate are very sturdy too and comes back after being beaten up. I lost a bunch in the ground the sun just became too much and we had weeks of drought, but keeping them trimmed helped some. Love the videos!
@zer0saves This is a wonderful comment...Florida is the HQ it seems for Coleus Trials...and You seem to cover all of the different things that A person can do while growing them. Being in a Frost free zone Your Coleus are in their natural PERENNIAL State too.
Are you no longer selling seeds on eBay? I can't find you there.
@marshawaggoner8544 I have a shirt listed but my Seed sales won't start until Mid September. So yes JIMS COLEUS is still going to sell seeds....just not now. I will post when my listing goes active.

@rollingthunder4599 OH I have plenty of Rootings... I mix it up but like most Coleus growers I throw away many stems I no longer need.
Yes! I just managed to get 2 new plants from just leaves, no stems!
Absolutely!
is coleus not toxic for cats & pets?
@ItsTheBotanicalRoots Coleus Like many plants will make pets sick if the eat alot of the foliage. Luckily my Cats do not eat any of my Coleus.

Jim, that “Wizard Rose Fireworks” is GORGEOUS! And the “Lord Voldemort” WOW! My Gosh just look at your Fishnet Stocking! 😱 Holy Flocking Schmidt, that’s one beauty! Personally, I love coleus that is slow to seed. Hit that baby with some bloom booster and it’ll be blooming in no time. 😂 Your Defiance is beautiful! Love that variety so much. Mine is getting HUGE! Your Saturns are awesome too! How the hell can I even pick a favorite?! 😱 They’re all stunning. I guess if you pressed me, I’d say your Fishnet and your Saturn. And your Wizard Rose Fireworks! Ok and your Defiance. LOL 😂 All of them, basically. Haha, so funny about the calibrachoa! It’s so cool that you say it correctly now, though. But I hate to burst your bubble, whatever those are in that pot they are definitely NOT calibrachoas. 😂 I’d have to see them close up, but they look like 4 o’clocks to me. The Zinnia flowers are very beautiful. Nice job.
@Holy.Moly.Coley. FLOCKING SCHMIDT!! 😆 🤣 😂 So funny. Thanks they are all beautiful!!! I bought some Calibracoah seeds for the Aerogarden...thought they were... bit your probably right....they are climbing like mad and the leaves and stems are very " sticky"
@Holy.Moly.Coley. Gonna start the Fishnet a few others on the Bloombooster ....particularly the Defiance which has 2-3 Seed stalks...but I want more!!
