    Hi jim my friend. You are always on time! I saved all my 10 coleus from winter and thrips. I planted my cuttings some days ago.but i gave some of them some days of high humidity because they wilted after i transplanted them into soil. Much love from germany

      Thank you!! As for the wilting....thats not that uncommon...its simply the stress of going from a wet medium ( case) to Soil which the roots must get accustomed to...but thats their natural state....they will instinctively look for water. Be sure the soil is well moist so that the roots have the water needed....but not saturated whereas to make them bloat. That's done with well drained soil and a pot with adequate drainage. But you sound like your on the right track!!! Once they adjust to the Soil they will start to perk up....grow and become more vibrant as the days grow longer and warmer!! Thank you ...so glad to have someone from the Great Country of Germany 🇩🇪!!! From America 🇺🇸.... Thank you!!

    John in Manchester Township here. I have around 60 coleus in my indoor greenhouse. Most are in 7" and about 12" to 14" way ready to plant. Most will go to my front circular bed with a dozen purple coleus on the outer ring, and 9 green ones surrounding a 5' ring of 7' tall Canna Lilies. That's how I had it last season and it will be bigger this year. My indoor greenhouse has a floor space of 3ft square and three 7' tall 36" wide heavy duty shelving.
    I have 14 cannas 3 of which are 16' tall and the rest about 4 inches - from seed. then over 80 rhizomes in a box of peat. I'm going to go nuts this season if it ever warms up. Peace.

      NJBeemaster!! SOUNDS WONDERFUL....Im presuming you are a NJ Beekeeper?? SOOOOO IMPORTANT!! My wife and I always buy our local Honey....Great for Local allergies I'm told and tastes sooo much better than shelf store bought. Actually one of the Farmers I sell my Coleus with brings Honey from his Local Beekeeper. Your Greenhouse sounds like a very busy place. Spring Lake NJ where I visit often have a wonderful Seasonal Canis display. I'm sure your final flowerbed set up are great for Beekeeping as well. I have a pretty mature garden in my yard filled with Pollinators ...People don't realize how important Bee pollination is to our existence.

    Hey Jim! That fishnet is so handsome. I have an Alligator Alley Main Street coleus that's about 4 ft tall and gorgeous, but needs shaping up. How many cuttings are too many cuttings at a time? I'd like to make more rootings while cleaning her up at the same time but don't want to end up stressing the plant by taking too much at a time.

      Excellent question.... if it's a really large plant than it can withstand more. If a small indoor...I would do as I ....2 cuttings. Allow the plant to grow and mature...you can take more cuttings thru the season!!

    My Rainbox Mix coleus are 7-8 weeks now. They are 2-3 inches tall and very healthy. I have burgundy, rust colored, and green. I didn't get any pink or white colors. Will some of the green get pink or white at this stage?

    • @Jimswholiestofcoleus

      It's possible....There is also a Wizard Mix of seeds which will have Pinks & whites. Or you can go to www.swallowtailgardenseeds.com where you can purchase specific Colored Coleus.

    I saved mine from last year and it did very well and it rooted well in water but I planted it into soil and it died am upset. What did I do wrong?

    • @Jimswholiestofcoleus
      @Jimswholiestofcoleus  Před 5 měsíci

      There can be a number of things...without knowing the details like what State you live...or Grw zone...etc tough to say. After you potted it did anything else change? Did you place it immediately outdoors? It needs to be hardened before placing outdoors. Did you over fertilize? Pot has drain holes? Oversaturated soil without drainage. The soil or pot if old could have had bacteria? Hard to answer . Also not all rootings do well when planted. If you took the rooting and immediately planted it outdoors directly in the ground soil without Hardening it and you've gotten some cool nights or weather it wouldn't probably make it.

      Don't be too upset....this happens with Rootings. Here in NJ I do not place my Rootings outdoors until Mid May when night temps are above 65° f . Even then I may lose 1 or 2. With Rootings....the warmer the outdoor temps when planting ...the more likely it will make it.

      @@Jimswholiestofcoleus I planted it in the soil and left it indoors. It was brand new soil. The pot is a terra-cotta pot and it had good drainage I did move it from the window it had been all winter to a window where it had direct sunlight. Thank you for your response.

    • @Jimswholiestofcoleus
      @Jimswholiestofcoleus  Před 5 měsíci

      @marilyntorres4699 It could be the Direct Sun which combined with the stress of potting could have been too much. Don't get discouraged...I have had plenty Rootings that didn't survive over the years. Best advice is pot them....but keep them where they have been kept as Rootings for a while... then slowly introduce it to the outdoors when conditions are right.... " Hardening Coleus" which I have videos on.
