Is it just me or does that snare drum sound rough? Lots of ringing and just a really nasty tuning.

I'm a pretty proficient mix engineer but this kind of study you should compare apples to apples than oranges oranges .. I met Josh before a show in Atlanta earlier this year, we talked about guitars and old venues for about 20 minutes before he had to go back inside, told him i am a guitarist as well so that was awesome, and i met the rest of Cattle after at their bus right after their set. Josh gave me a Dava pick that had been used many times by him considering the ware on it, and Belisario gave me a black pick with their logo on it, and got to hang with the whole band for about 45 minutes. I was super nervous meeting Travis tho... Definitely a monumental night for me as a fan and fellow musician!

Anyone knows exactly what triggers those are on the bassdrum?

I hate that guitar with passion, to me it's one of the ugliest axes I've seen. BUT what matters is what you play on it.

I use Logic's drummer to make a dynamic drum performance. Then I use a sampler to import my own samples and build my own kit. Then I convert the Logic drummer track to Midi, and move it over to the track with the kit I built. That way I have a dynamic performance even with non-dynamic one shots. After that, I tweak to taste.

that color coded and fully annotated lyric thing is INCREDIBLY smart and easy, especially when moving them around after recording them without having to listen to each one 20 times
