Thank you so much sir. I just found your channel. And i really love this video. The carrd platform user interface is also easy to use. I've been looking for an easy platform for a while now, and just when i found one, i'm stucked on the way, because of the 50 element limit. I'm just building my data analyst portfolio for the first time to get an internship job in data analysis. I dont know if you can suggest other free and easy to use platform for me. I will really be very grateful.

Perfectly managed cables are overrated. Real talk though, if you can look past the cables, you might find something worth noticing in the rest of the setup. I've cleaned them up since recording thanks to all of this lovely feedback.

Hello, for every site there is a limit for 50 elements can you mention some other template can be used for free without a limit?
Hey there, I realized this mistake post-video. I added some suggestions to workaround this issue in my pinned comment above. I'd also check out many of the other templates they have on their platform. Some of those might be more suitable for less characters, but this video can still help teach navigating the design features.

Yes. I did not need a Windows license to download Power BI, but you do need a license if you want to be able to sign-in and publish your reports to a Workspace.
@@MattMike parallel desktop is way better in getting a free powerbi and other apps....than getting a license only for powerbi

Didn't want to let go of the 50% discount code I got :P I think even before someone starts off with the Learn Modules, building a few reports in PBI Desktop definitely helps to give a preliminary understanding of PBI. Kinda helps to grasp the modules as the content becomes more understandable when the layout of different screens is known to you. Maybe an initial SQL knowledge could also be of great help.

What visual would you have chosen for the bar or column charts? I often find that choosing something different for the sake of choosing something different can take away from what actually works best.

Is it possible to connect AtScale to web version of Power BI or is it only possible with Power BI Desktop? I am using Mac.
I do believe the web version of Power BI also supports connection to AtScale.
How much sql would you say you use?
At the time of filming this video I used it quite often. Probably almost daily. Currently I’m in a different role and don’t need it quite as often.

Thanks Matt! I’ve install & run on my Macbook Air M2 8GB RAM. Its too slow to load the Microsoft Power BI & almost impossible to navigate around. Planning on upgrading my Macbook. Do you think 16GB RAM would be enough or i’ll need more like 24GB or 32GB RAM to run smoothly Parallel VM & Microsoft Power BI ?
Update Windows ! Install updates to enable x64 emulsion. I have a MacBook Air M1 with 8GB RAM, and it is working pretty well.
@haktube99 I've heard that the M3's run Parallels much more smoothly than the M2's so it might be worth the upgrade if you've been thinking about upgrading your Macbook anyway. With an M3, I think 16GB should do the trick.

All thing considered, if you want to use MS applications, its much cheaper to buy a Windows computer. You've failed to mention that, adding to the Parallels cost, you need to buy a windows licence. Just adding up 😁
Power BI Desktop doesn’t require a license. Publishing and sharing will require licensing.
@@MattMike Windows 11 (or other windows version) require a licence. You need to purchase one, in order to get it running on Parallels, wich by it self needs a licence to. Believe me, i've been there.
@MattMike Hey Matt - thanks for the vid. This is the main reason I run Parallels - for PowerBI. Like others have asked - I'm interested in your Mac spec. I have been using Parallels on my Intel based desktop for years (i5, 32Gb memory and a M.2 drive) and performance has always been great. Picked up a new M2 MBP 16Gb, loaded Parallels 19 (tried 18 also) with Win11 & PowerBI and even allocating 12Gb to Parallels, PowerBI is so slow, it is near unusable. Very clean environment (fresh install of everything). So I'm not sure if it's the ARM ver of Windows 11 specifically - I was hoping to see improved performance from the M2 hardware but so far my experience is the opposite. Wish I could jam an extra 16Gb memory in to see if that makes the difference.
I'm using an M2 with 8gb of unified memory. I'll be honest, Power BI does run a bit slow within Parallels at times. I do wish it was faster, but it gets the job done.

Honestly, not a bad solution. For me, I do prefer the simplicity of one device (and I love my macbook) so running a VM makes sense.
Hello! I am a student trying to expand my skills on Power Bi and Python. I have never used Power Bi, but I want to learn and have a certificate on my LinkedIn to improve my curriculum. Would you recommend this exam?
I’d recommend this exam for anyone wanting to build credibility with use of Power BI It will be challenging if you don’t have working experience with the tool but it is possible. When I was studying, I read forums where other beginners to the tool were able to pass. Just keep in mind that it will be challenging so you’ll want to be extra prepared.
I'm glad you made this video. Self teaching takes time and staying focused is difficult. My first project looked terrible but I got the idea of how to use the tools. Unfortunately we're not in a job market for rookies. There are so many tool video lessons, but fewer analysis process videos.
I’m really glad to hear this was helpful! The way we approach and present our projects is sometimes more important than the project itself.
Can you also compare Tableau to PowerBI from a corporation deployment standpoint? How does each stack up when administering the corporate site. User login, Folder management and protection. Tableau has a really robust server and then site admin options. I can lock folders by groups or individuals. Each project then has a large array of settings to allow or limit users from filtering, downloading, editing, Saving. Tableau also has their subscriptions and alert messages that can be sent to anyone that subscripts to them when data meets and certain criteria. Everyone always compares the building piece, but it is difficult to find the consumption comparison.

I have an M2 with 8gb of unified memory so I am using the ARM architecture. I'm not sure how to answer the second part of your first question. I just downloaded Parallels and got to work with it, not sure about the specs I set it up with, (though I'd be happy to learn!). Hope that helps a bit!

Thank you! I think the only tool that even comes close to Tableau and Power BI is Looker, though I have no experience with it. I’ve used a couple other less popular BI tools in the past but they were terrible.
