Hello everyone! I've been a lifelong car lover since I was 5 years old, when my Dad took me to see a Camaro Z28 in a dealership showroom. I stared at it in amazement and thought "Wow, what is this?" It was at that moment I fell in love with cars forever.
I've been detailing cars as a hobby for over 25 years. I own several cars but I get bored easily, so I rent cool cars to keep life interesting! I also like doing basic maintenance on cars and of course driving cool cars, and I want to share my knowledge, experience and adventures with you. 2007 Aston Martin Vantage Review: An Affordable, Beautiful, Underwhelming Exotic Car
The Aston Martin Vantage is a sexy, cheap and wonderful sounding exotic car. So should you buy one? Not so fast.
While it has many pros, it has many cons as well such as lack of power, a 6-speed manual transmission that is very notchy, and a 3,600 pound curb weight that makes it cumbersome to drive in most situations.

Are you still currently enjoying your Acura MDX? My wife and I are thinking about purchasing one.
Sadly no, I sold it. I loved it, but it was a bit large for our small family and we found we weren’t using it much, especially during the COVID years. We only truly needed a 7-passenger SUV 1-2 days per year. So we sold it and got something smaller. If you’re OK with a full-size SUV you won’t do too much better than a 2nd gen MDX!

I'm thinking to get a 2009 MDX. From my personal research it seems the most reliable year and the best buy for around $10,000. Hopefully I can get one with less than 90,000 miles and under $10,000 is my goal. I now have a 2005 and I like it, but it has 296,000 miles. Probably time to let it go, right?
I agree with everything you said. 296K miles on a Gen 1 MDX is great. How is it holding up? I’m sure you could keep it going, just a question if you want to keep maintaining it - both in terms of cost and time investment/inconvenience. Even the most reliable cars at 300K miles need things frequently. A low mileage Gen 2 resets that clock a bit.
Working on trying to do a bluetooth relay mod to prevent the parasitic draining. Someone has done it years ago.

I own a Tesla, I live in Arizona. It is currently 115 degrees. We are doing fine. Probably not the Tesla, but more likely the charger :) I love how everybody jumps in the comments though and automatically bandwagons Tesla

Interesting experience. I accidentally forgot and left my Mustang GT in the driveway instead of the garage where I normally park it. It was blazing hot, 105⁰ outside and I needed to run and pick up my kids from school. Fortunately I remembered it's powered by a loud, large, gas guzzling 5.0 v8 engine instead of a battery pack. It cranked right up and I went on my way.
Same I left my truck outside overnight last winter, and it worked fine in the morning. Gas is king

I left my Sierra 2500 in the sun and didn't have this issue. Didn't have to cancel my plans or miss my son's soccer game or find a charging station or anything unexpected. Cuz I didn't invest in a technology the United States is not yet ready for.

Someone had to buy the model T first. Someone had to buy color tv’s first. Someone had to buy a computer that filled up a whole room first. Nothing is wrong with waiting for mature tech, but nothing is wrong with spending money on being an early adopter.

@@Purposable Sorry, but none of your parallels work. Someone had to buy the model T, with all its faults, because it was either the only choice or one of very few. If someone did buy an early model... model T to take their family across the country while everyone else took horses, they too would be laughed at when we passed them 1/4 of the way across the city while they shrugged at their broken wheel. Buying a color TV when there's hardly any color programming may be a poor investment, but it doesn't leave you stranded or missing your Father's heart surgery. It's an entertainment device (for the most part) and if it quits, you'll likely be MORE productive without it, unlike your electric car. And then the giant computer. Another case of not having anything to do with what we're talking about. Yes, this giant computer can do word processing, compute, solve problems, and other amazing new technology... but again, there aren't existing smaller computers in 99% of the world that are already working on a system built for them. Electric Cars are not new tech. It's a new combination of old tech, and it does not integrate into the existing framework. There aren't enough charging stations, the batteries don't last long enough... There absolutely is a problem with being an early adopter, and that is... that it's stupid. Vehicle technology takes leaps on the stage at car shows and in concepts, but it doesn't with the mass produced gasoline vehicles. You slowly started seeing satellite radio, and usb ports, and digital displays, and blindspot warnings, and self braking tech... and so on and so on. Most of these things failing, don't leave you stranded in a blizzard or locked inside your car. Instead of gradually introducing electric engines, people took a leap of faith, hoping they'd be able to charge their new family vehicle, and every day find issues with lack of resources or issues with the new technology. The answer? Hybrids. Instead of replacing what an entire species is accustomed to... integrate a new tech. We're not ready for electrics.

Happened to me yesterday at a fast charging station with my bmw i3, I was able to charge at a level 2 instead 🤷🏻♀️
Thats why you need a gasser, it only takes what 3 to 5 minutes to fill up and best part is it doesn't overheat when you fill up your car, you can also sit in the cab and wait to hear the pump click.
I still have 2 gas cars, so when I had charging issues yesterday that’s exactly what I did. Jumped in my gas car and away I went. EVs are great, but I wouldn’t own one if I could only have one car. It’s a great additional vehicle though.

Nah. I like my current free fueling setup with minimal maintenance costs while having a car with a luxury feel! And all while spending the same amount I would have over time on a used 20K sedan with worse APR after dealing with annoying dealerships 😂

Apparently your sensors aren’t named- my system tells me exactly which sensor is not responding or needs a battery replacement.
@@lilos01 That’s right. My system is older, all sensors are identified (names) by serial #. I can change that now, rename them to be more descriptive, but for those who have the same setup as me, this video is for them.
In uk probably 2k? Americans are talking about spending that on a BMW so i don't believe it. Nothing on an old bmw with set you back more than a few grand including engine but some Americans claim spending 10k on a gearbox 😂 could get new used one for 500-1000 fitted

Yep, hence why it's the only thing I left alone on the car. I fully disclosed it to the new owner and provided a dozen undercarriage shots on as well so he knew what he was getting into. I feel for you. If I had it done my video would have been titled $20K+ in repairs,. Yikes. Most Vantage owners put if off for years, so you're not alone.

Well explained
You may not have LFP batteries (lithium iron phosphate). They are much more durable than the NCM batteries that Tesla was using before the adoption of LFP batteries. That being said, the NCM batteries that you may have in your car should level out and stay near your 94% capacity for at least 100,000 miles based on various reviews of 2021 Model 3s that I have watched on CZcams. You still have a high-quality battery. My 2022 Model 3 has 78,000 miles on it and has retained over 95% of its battery capacity. It has LFP batteries which are proving to be very durable. I can get a real-world range of close to 250 miles if I drive slow and it is mixed highway and city driving. But typically I don't drive slow and I get between 220 - 240 miles of range. The temperature also greatly affects mileage. In AZ, where I live, if I drive during the day when temperatures are near 110 degrees F, I only get around 140 miles of range because the car expends significant amounts of energy cooling the battery. Your range will only be near its max in temperatures between 50 - 80 degrees F. If it is too cold or too hot, you will range will significantly decrease. With the advent of solid-state batteries that are coming out, that should change significantly because they are affected much less by cold and heat.

You can, but if it says for example S/N XYZ12345 battery low, which sensor is that? That’s the challenge, knowing which sensor battery to swap out. You have to pull all the sensors off and look on the back to find the serial #.

I’m just now realizing that. I’m usually so tired when I’m flying I never noticed. And a lot of the seats aren’t branded Recaro, for some reason, but the design is a dead giveaway.

I know boring question but what kind of mpg do you get driving/cruising on the highway?
Pretty poor gas mileage as you might expect for a heavy V8 sports car. I averaged 17mpg during my ownership. Pure city it's about 14mpg, pure highway driving I would get 19mpg, 20mpg on a great day. Keep in mind I drive 85mph on the highway. 🙂
