Araschnia levana, the map (butterfly) that changes appearance between broods is probably one of those that left many butterfly collectors of old into sadness when they were realized to be the same butterfly.
I love turtles. I hope they find a female Yangtze River Giant Softshell Turtle (Rafetus Swinhoei) soon. Them and the Fernandina Galapagos Giant Tortoise. If they don’t find a female Rafetus or male Fernandina tortoise they will become extinct. We can’t let this happen. Luckily, we have genetic material form a handful of Rafetus. Unfortunately for Fernandina Torotises, there is only one dead taxidermy male tortoise, that is ove centre old besides Fen herself. We must save her kind and The Rafetus.
Wombats are the most amazing Australian creatures.
I think its better to just consider them as "extinct". If people know these animals still exist, they will hunt it down.
Giant eagle or bird or whatever is real, had one pick me and a female friend at least a foot off the ground and tore both of our coats.
Wonderful prigram, but your slides went far to quickly to read unless you paused every sentence.
Okay i know this is a 9 month old video but someone has to explain this to me: at 9:43 this fish is named haplochronis sp no 44... how does that happen? Did they just happen to not come up with a name for this one or is this an undescribed species? And why are there at least 43 more? Hahah would love an explanation
According to Wikipedia, the last quagga was actually in London, not Amsterdam
it seems unfair to me to say the reasons for some animals disappearance are a mistery. humans can be a beautiful specie, but sometimes we're the most stupid and insensitive too. in one way or another, we are the only reason animals go extinct.
Sounds like you maybe had wedge tail eagles back in the days
I love this channel I learn so much from it .
This makes me so much sad and angry about humanity...
The truth is is that it's extinct in Tasmania and Australia because in the nearest century it's been extinct if it was still around a dead one would have been found people would have found tracks some idiot would have shot one somebody's dogs would have killed one somebody would have hit one in the road someone would have caught one on a trail cam somebody would have taken a picture in their yard somebody would have actually found her and Scott and various other things to prove that they're still around, most animals that are found to still be alive when thought to be extinct or either creatures that live at the bottom of the ocean are there animals that look so similar to other animals that most people can't tell them apart, are there tiny tiny little things that most people would never notice this is a large mammal that's extremely famous there's no way that it's still around in Tasmania the only place that it might be is maybe hiding in some remote place in New Guinea
R.I.P. 🥺
I wonder what Incas and Martha talked about
the capabilities of technology science of cloning is overblown and exaggerated by quasi religious magical outlook due to sci-fi. The truth is there is a need of heavy investment into that branch/es and scientists need to start gathering and cloning recently extinct animals with old habitats and then come up with new solutions if in case if those won't work out. Build breeding farms for this purpose.
European colonialism basically kills not only humans but fauna and flora too.
Who should be blamed for the atrocity, extinctions, conflicts, disputes and destruction of culture and tradition around the world…. The European😂😂😂
Great stuff. Sad .
I remember seeing a video of the o'o bird, and the last known recording of what they sounded like. Hawaii is being decimated by invasive spcies, overpopulatuon, loss of habitat, and has the mist flora and fauna on the endangered species list. The o'o bird was black with yellow tufts if feathers by its legs. They were captured, yellow feathers removed and then set free. The feathers adorned Hawaiian chiefs feathered cloaks and garments.
I believe that this bird is real. Not only has it had multiple named witnesses but it's also backed up by mythology. The thunderbird is a bird in native American mythology that matches the description of this bird and has also had multiple unconfirmed sightings. He made up some things but was more often than not telling the truth. He was accused of lying about rattlesnakes climbing up trees and yellow waterlilys in the north americas but he was telling the truth. And people miss large animals all the time. Think of that unconfirmed javan tiger sighting recently. Or the possible sightings of the Japanese wolf. I could go on forever but I'll stop here. I fully believe that the washington sea eagle exists/existed and if I'm wrong than it doesn't harm anyone.
Quagga sounds like the name of a mediocre SoundCloud rapper

Funny how thylacines were described as extremely shy and skittish for over a hundred years, yet most claims say they saw a completely unafraid animal quite close to humans even on the wrong continent, and despite the quality and speed of modern cameras and smartphones every photo is grainy, blurry or suspect.
They hated wolves so much they blamed a marsupial on a completely different continent and drove it to extinction because it looked similar to them 😢 given how much farmers exaggerated wolf attacks and losses for hundreds of years, I have serious doubts about the "ravages" done by thylacines, especially given the repeated mention of lambs and how easily they were killed by dogs
Ive seen a massive bird that drawfs our bald eagles in northern alberta in the hope flood plains where you can see up the fraser canyon in southern bc. Im not saying it was this bird but it was the biggest bird ive ever seen.
so rare so beautiful.....im a blast it
The government is asleep. It won’t be long all other species will go extinct and only then people will wake up and put a strict law for protecting wild life. The amount of killing even now for fashion and trophy is disgustingly!!
Toolache wallaby was last sighted in the wild on 1924 and in captivity on 1939. There are chances that toolache wallaby is still alive. It's been reported that there were suspected sightings of toolache wallaby during the 1970s. Some people claimed that they have spotted a toolache wallaby during the 1970s.
Well done
I believe him. Bro was like ash seeing Ho-oH in episode one
What I’m fascinated by is how does nature know what other creatures look like? Does nature have eyes?
We don;t need to hear how these animals went extinct. We all already know. Us. We did it. Humans. We're a cancer.
We the invasive species dam
The Canada and U.S. sightings are hilarious
Nothing about striped biologist taunters, eh?
Some of this is our fault but some was natural selection sad none the less
After our animals are gone we will be next
Interesting how they all seemed sad
The thylacine is almost certainly extinct. I’ve seen the “evidence” and it’s unconvincing. I won’t say it 100% definitely is, but I really do think that the vast majority of speculation is wishful thinking.
It’s strange to see how many fresh water animals are only or primarily found in China and the southern United States. Paddle fish, alligators, various kinds of turtles, gara, etc. I guess it must be because the Yangtze and Mississippi water sheds are the only watersheds in the right climate zone to support most of these animals
so basically, the reason for these animals extinction is simply because of stupid humans who couldnt leave them alone
Man no idea about what I’m watching, the song is sooooo fuckin good I need it

15:30 “The British opposed this and were tasked with getting these people home” You know you’re fucked when even the British empire thinks your colonialism is needlessly cruel
When my dad was a little boy in the late 50s and early 60s. He told me there were two things he almost NEVER saw: pelicans and alligators. Fast forward to when I was a young boy in the late 90s and early 00s and he would take me rides in his truck around the harbors and beach to look at all the pelicans and alligators together. He would tell me about how he always wanted to see these animals as a kid and never got to, but that he was so happy that I was able to see them now. It fostered a deep care and appreciation in me for wildlife and the desire to see more endangered species one day thrive
Adoro tus videos.❤
