why all these cowbells? It's actually quite simple. Cows wear these bells, especially in the Alpine mountains, so that farmers can find their cows and certain predators like bears and wolves stay away from the ringing of the bells. Experienced farmers listen when they're searching for cows to see if one is missing and whether their cow is injured because the ringing of the bells makes it sound different when it's no longer walking normally. If they don't hear any bells ringing from a cow they're looking for, they usually know straight away that the cow is probably no longer alive, i.e. has died from a fall, in most cases in the mountains/Alps....And they immediately go and check the critical, dangerous places where a cow could have fallen, based on the farmers' experience. That's why they have these bells! And these bells are relatively small! There are bells that they hang around cows and bulls at certain times that are 3-4 times bigger than your head!!! People in the comments missing the point of the park, is about history yes, but also legends and stories that were told in that time periods, we all know a mermaid didn't give back arthur his sword but it's a legend, in the past catholicism was linked with everything, they even repopulated areas in the country saying a miracle happened, 😂😂😂 just enjoy the park

Buen Camino! And thank you for watching Wayne! We hike in Bedrock Sandals and love them. I (Collin) like the “Cairn Evo” model , and Meredith wears the “Cairn 3D” model. Both are awesome-and last about 2000 miles/ 3000km. They have been on many adventures! I have to warn you though, you’ll get a lot of strange looks walking the Camino in sandals 😂 They are not as popular as we expected! We hope you have an amazing Camino journey! Thank you so much for watching! We started in Bilbao. It was a beautiful city. The official route starts a bit further east , but as we got a later start than expected, we divided Bilbao was good enough. Have you done a Camino before?

Did you booked the albergues beforehand? 🤩
We did the first few days! But after that we stopped & found it was easier to just show up. That way you can be flexible if it rains or you want to go longer one day. We used booking.com a ton if the albergues were full 😊

Question, do they give you anything to translate into English, I know a little french but would be good for my son
They don't, the only thing I can think of is going to the website ahead of time and reading about each show or printing off the descriptions of the show so you can explain the basics to your son. We don't speak any french, so our friends had to translate a lot of it for us, and it was fine. The acting and entertainment is so great that you'll get the basic idea just by watching!
So you're going to Switzerland to run "to the top of the tallest mountain in Europe". Wow....that will for sure be some record breaking marathon.... That because the tallest mountain in Europe is named Elbrus ( 5642 meter ) ....and is located in the HIgh Caucasus mountains in Russia....some 3600 km away from Switzerland. It is good with ambitions to run so far....but that story of yours ...well....I think is a bit over the top ambitious.... I do know about a marathon in Switzerland which is about to run up the mountain of Jungfraujoch ....which is 3463 meter. It is not even close to be the tallest mountain in Switzerland......which is Monte Rose of 4642 meters. Shall we say that you're a bit lost in the geography....

We wrongly assumed Jungfrau’s marketing “The top of Europe” (which is on the website, t-shirts, advertising, etc) meant that it was the tallest. As we came to find out, it has this title because of the railway, making it the highest accessible point in Europe . Have you been on this railway before? It’s quite stunning! We sure are lost in our geography, but we sure can say it was a challenging marathon, a beautiful mountain, and a great story. 😁

The idea is cool, the execution is appalling. The park is in the hand of far right politicians who are rewriting History to fit their narrative. (Especially on how "mean" the republic was to the "nice" royalists in britain) 😂 There are french historians who protested against this "fantasy". 😢

This is a great place, for sure. But the locals keep saying they come back every year at least. I don't understand that. Once you've seen everything, there's no real reason to come back

The first few days were extremely deceptive! And we are still unsure. They had signs, and we had a map. And yet they never added up-and the distance were always off the first few days. Don’t worry, things sort them selves out. 😁
