An exercise in putting dangerous ideas into heads that don’t know how to make intelligent decisions. An unsecured cutting tool of any kind is extremely dangerous yet you put ideas in front of people which is not responsible. James Hamilton made a video about a non secured cutting tool that seriously injured him. Don’t give people ideas that they don’t need. There are too many who will now copy you REGARDLESS of any disclaimer and potentially injure themselves or someone nearby. NEVER ASSume people will do the smart thing. It’s just not how the human race works. Experiment with danger on your own time but stop putting stupid ideas into the heads of people. It’s risky at best. Show some intelligent responsibility toward others. PS I don’t want to come to your birthday party. Dangerous things might happen there.

Really well done video. We have a 2006 Rockwood Roo hybrid that needs all 3 bunks redone. The front bunk is the worst, the middle joist (for lack of a better term) has corroded and broken. I will probably have to have someone weld me up a whole new frame. The side and back bunks are more like what you have here, so rebuilding them should be a similar process. One of the most helpful parts was the types of adhesives you used to glue the various layers together. I also wonder if giving the filon outer skin a good soak and letting it sit overnight would have loosened that last thin layer of wood.

I agree it’s not useful. Two reasons. One you are sanding against the grain and also tough to keep it perfectly 90. A drill will sand correctly but still not flush. Now if you can make sandpaper that doesn’t blow apart and put it on a router… 🤔💭

I've never tried this, but I've tried to use the drill press as a lathe to turn small items. Here are my experiences. Theoretically, turning on a drill press should work fine. I have a cheap, supermarket grade drill press, and its chuck is fixed with a threaded bolt, so it cannot come out of the taper if loaded sideways. There are other problems, however. The biggest issue is that the shaft of such a cheap drill press usually has an excessive play, which causes a nasty wobble of the chuck. Due to this wobble, it is very difficult, if not impossible, to turn a regular object with a round cross section using a cheap drill press. Even if you eliminate all unwanted play these machines have some instability if the chuck is loaded sideways, so precise work is impossible. Turning speed can also be a problem. These issues apply for routing, too. You need very precise and fast rotation fot the router bit to work properly, which is not possible with these machines. Therefore it isn't worth the effort to try to make do with an existing drill press for turning or routing jobs. Big, good quality, expensive drill presses might work a little bit better, but then you don't want to ruin the bearings of that expensive machine with lateral loading. It's much better to buy a cheap handheld router, make a special table to hold it in position, and use that setup if it's necessary. Or invest in a small tabletop lathe and do the turning job properly with better result and much smaller health hazard.
