Hello!
This is a place where I film and show my time in the shop, which is going to be mostly in the winter months and all in a very unprofessional way. If you like nice clean welds, lots of expensive equipment and a host that master perfect English... this is not for you.
But if odd builds and a sense of humour tickles your toes; Welcome!

DeSotos are not a very common car in Sweden and especially not from the early 50's. So we sold ours just a few months ago and this one arrived to the neighbourhood shortly after.

Häftigt! Glöm inte att smörja spindeln med någon lämpligt spindelolja, annars riskerar du att förstöra spindellagren. Det ser ut att sitta smörjoljekoppar uppe på gjutningen avsedda för detta ändamål. 😊👍
Tackar! Jag droppade i lite 80-90 transmissionsolja i kopparna innan jag startade. Kanske inte den lämpligaste smörjan men det var vad jag hade på hyllan. 😄
u got second channel? czcams.com/video/S8mh2EituBc/video.html
Yes, that's my car/hot rod/fabrication channel. 👍
@@slowshop Oh ok, I was just surprised when youtube served me 2 identical videos from 2 different channels :)
@andan2293 LOL. I see. 👍 I would be surprised too.
I'm glad you got lathed...
😄 Me aswell.
Find a friend to show you how to sharpen bits.
I have a good lead. 👍
All households need a lathe!
Indeed. 😊
Good stuff man!
Thank you. I thought you'd like this one.
11:44, LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL.........You need a License to own one of these!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG, Martin, thanks for the laugh. I know you will figure all of this out. I also know if that Lathe could talk, it would be amazing to hear of all the work , and how many different parts were made on it. Cheers my Friend, from the USA!!! PS, that is also a brazed carbide tool bit that had an extra piece of steel welded onto it for a purpose we will never know.
Haha. Humor. 😄
8:37, 3 thousandths of an inch runout, which is about the thickness on a sheet of paper.
0:36, Yes, Martin, the legs, and the Ways. The Ways, are where the Head Stock (Spindle, Drive pulley, and Chuck), Carriage, and Tail Stock are mounted onto. The Carriage and Tail Stock can be moved on the Ways to allow the machining of parts you're working on. The Ways have one flat surface on the back and the other is a 90 degree V. I've never seen a Lathe that didn't have a Carriage that could be power, or hand feed. The Lathe you have is not able to cut threads because of the type carriage it was built with. But as I said on your other channel a Lathe is better than no Lathe. I'm hoping in the future you can get a more versatile Lathe.
Thank you for the lesson. 👍👍
Very Nice event !!!!
It was perfect. Thank you.
Sounds good but it slower than MY WRX lol
Please don’t take it as an insult or attack I’m just wondering I don’t know much about Subaru. I’ve got a 2021 T/A 392 and WRXs never want to play, stock for stock are the WRXs faster?
The WRX looks better too. 😉
It should .I've it along pretty good a302w would give you more bang for your buck but its a cool option good find I'd like to find a 292 like that from the 60's low mi.
The 302 is very modern compared to the Y-block and probably way more reliable. I got a 302 in our Land Rover. 😉 Y-block is cool and suits the hot rod better.
Bro went to get a barn find in forza 😂
And God giveth...
👍
🍻
makin me wish mine was black but I got the white 😔
White is cool. 👍
Congratolation with the bike (some could call it moppe😊). You seems to have a good plan for the bike. Small steps to a fun bike. What happens to the Land Rover? You have inspired me so much that now I remake my -62 series 2 to get the car body completly on rubber mounts. A lot of work, but it's fun. I dont have the confident to put it online as you do, but the project it's in progress.
Good morning and thank you. 👍 Yes, it's just a tuned "moppe" really. 😄 The Land Rover gets too little attention to be honest. I want to get inspired to start working on it again. So you have to start filming your Land Rover. 😉
Cars worth more then there house
That's a shed. Dumb ass.
Glad to hear from you. Nice bike. Like what your doing to it. Less is more.
Aloha! Thank you sir. 👍Less is more, absolutely.
Congratulations! I guess great minds do think alike. I just picked up a 1977 Yamaha xs400 for a project. I don't have a license either, but don't tell anyone. Cheers from the shed
That's awesome! Well, they do think alike our great minds.
Thank you for the shout out. 😊
😂
@@slowshop do you hang with this guy?
@@frankjones4094 Every day. Hagberg's Corner is me. My name is Martin Hagberg. 😄

That's a fun project. Great work!
Thanks for watching. 👍
In your opinion, is the 292 Y block more durable than the 302 Windsor? What is your preference between these two engines for use in trucks?
Honestly, I think the more modern Windsor small blocks are a much better engine. But the Y-block is a beautiful classic with a better sound more suited in a hot rod. 👍
The Ford Y block - Heavy, long stroke, stacked port, low RPM, rocker squeaking, rear main leaking piece of junk.
You obviously knows alot... 🤦♂️
@@slowshop Yes, I does.
Whatever happened to this car and the Cyclone Head?
Aloha. The car is in the garage, still well and good. The Cyclone head is wall art. That was the worst quality part I've ever seen, sadly.
Thanks for the reply. I figured the second one didn’t work out as well. I bought a new one on the used market before I had watched your video or had seen so much negativity about the vendor. Maybe I’ll try it at some point but I’ll use another for a new engine build.
@4bangerdean I try to answer as fast as I can. 👌 Mine is fixable, but a brand new for $700 you think you get one that works. Well, I really hope yours is ok. I drive with the original 4.2-1 compression head. 😄 Good enough with all the other speed parts.
OMG, Martin!!! I haven't watched this build yet. Will this build be required to have fuel injection like the Landy?
Aloha! Well... this will be started after the Landy. It will not have fuel injection. 👌
You know he a trapper
A what??
Martin, I just watched the last video of the Landy watch list. Now I can watch new progress videos as they're posted. I anticipate the completion of this build and I'll be excited to see it on and off road in future videos.
Thank you sir. Hope you liked them. New progress will come. 👌
8:13, Martin, this looks like a good time to fold the windshield down so you have enough excess wire to do so.
I hope I got enough wire to fold the windows down. 😇
Martin, I like your idea for the do not use switch. You will know what it's for, but you can laugh at those whose curiosity will shock them.
Yep, that'll be a laugh. 😁
Martin, it's great to have eye protection when working especially underneath a vehicle. But at times ear protection is needed as well. When I was young, my Dad was doing some torch cutting and welding under a truck he owned. A small hot piece of metal got into his ear and burned a hole in his eardrum. He had several operations to fix the problem, but he had reduced hearing in that ear for the rest of his life. He recommended wearing a hard hat liner when ever cutting or welding under a vehicle after his accident.
Wow! That's a good advice. I'm very careful of my hearing. I'm a music lover. 🎶🍻 Usually very careful...
Martin, I imagine the directional lights will have to be close to the legal headlights? If Sweden allows you to use the original headlights in concert with the required by law headlights it will be great.
The indicators can't be too close to the headlights. Needs to be a certain distance. But I got that written down somewhere.
Martin, videos like this are a help to others showing how to neaten up the maze of wires. I think if you wired it from scratch it could have had less wires to do the same job. It's great to have a fuse panel, but at the same time to try to keep it simple.
Martin, if pink makes your wife happy, you will have a happy life!!!
😄
An inverter is great if you are camping with the Landy. But I'd prefer to have a second battery isolated from the main battery for inverter use. It's a safe method so you're not stranded someplace and can't start the vehicle due to a dead battery.
That's a very good tip. I plan to place a battery in a rear wheel well, under a lid, we'll protected.
Martin, I'll say it again, "Wiring Sucks" especially using a generic after market kit. Yes, I understand modern safety laws applied to headlights and other lights. It's sad that you can't use the Original Iconic Headlights. But is it legal to use them as a four headlight group??? That would be sweet and give better lighting, especially in off road use.
All those silly rules. Yes, I can use them as extra high beam.
0:35, I see your supervisor is with you today, maybe there will be less funny business and more work!!!LOLLLLLLLLLLL
Lol. He's a great helper finding lost sockets. 😄
Martin, it's what's called Trial & Error!!! Many times we don't have the proper sized bracket or belt or even the correct pulley offset. If the engine came complete from the junkyard you wouldn't have to do extra work like you're doing. It's great to see you have a plasma cutter. Quite often they are a better choice than an oxyacetylene cutting torch.
The plasma cutter is more useful than I first thought. 👌
Martin, I'd paint under the hood the same green as the outside, I really like it for the Landy.
That would be nicer than a bunch of stickers, but every sticker has a story. 😁😉
17:45, Martin, the Landy is going to be a really nice looking pickup truck.
Thanks mate. 👌🍻
We call it a bed, in the USA. You can say my pickup truck has either a short bed, or a long bed. I understand why you call it a tub, but don't try to take a bath in it because it will leak.
😁 Brittish vehicle so I try and use the Brittish word. But I'm more comfortable with American English. I don't know why.
I really like your 3D Printed Landy parts, and the RC Tank you made. I need to get into #DP myself. You've made a lot of progress on many small details that really add up.
The 3d-printer is a good help indeed. 👌
I had it twice, both were mild. The 1st was like bronchitis, and the 2nd was even milder I didn't even know I had it.
I'm glad for you. I think I only got it once.
3:20, Martin, it looks like some type of ammunition case. Maybe 20mm cannon shells, or maybe the stick type hand grenades or other explosive devices. This case is in very good condition and it's great to hold tools, jumper cables, or whatever you need to store in it. Edit: when I put a time stamp and guess it's done before I continue watching, my guess was correct. I've seen the guys metal detecting in Germany & Russia pulling these things out of the ground and from swamps that are still full on munitions.
It's a case for German stick handgranates. 👌 Good to have..
Martin, Including this video, I have 18 videos to finish watching the Landy Build up to the current date. Watching what you're Landy build makes me remember when I was younger working on the Mustang's I once owned, yes, I'm having fun. Thanks for sharing.
I'm honoured. Thank you for the kind words mate. 🍻
I'm a new subscriber watching your 2 year old videos and you were in the 200's then and you're over 2K now. I like your build and channel, you're always happy and you're having fun, so what's not to like??? I always give the thumbs up with content like what you're creating.
Thank you sir. 👌
The seat covers your wife made look great. I'm sure they will be even better when they are fitted on the seats. The etch primer smells like fish when it burns, so what did the headers smell like??? LOLLLLLLLLLLLL I can't wait to see the first real test drive; it's going to be great.
She said thank you. They look perfect. The headers smelled like typical fish and chips. 😄
Martin, even with the wires on the floor; it still looks like you have too many. I hate doing wiring in a car.
The electrical is not my favourite. But it's clean and silent.
I wouldn't feel bad about having something cut in a junk yard to get what you needed. So many vehicles are scrapped every day. That piece will live on and used instead of going to the crusher and being melted down to make something else.
Thank you. That was my thought too 👌
Yes, I'm 2 years late watching this video. If I were doing this build, I'd make it so the roof can come off (bolted on) during the nice summer days.
That's my goal. Easily removable roof. 👌
