I think the 'carpe diem!' surface-level narrative is more of a distraction than anything else. The depiction of human society in 'Mind Game' goes a lot deeper than that, and a lot of it is very... icky.

Loving the music in this video. I recognize some Peanuts as well as Princess Jellyfish music. I did not realize these shows existed. I always thought the birth of the magical girl was in the 80's. With shows like Minky Momo and Creamy Mami. I suppose many of these shows didn't exhibit enough the of the characteristics to be considered by many as truly Magical Girl as we know it? Or the fact they're animated shows from 50~ years ago made in a different country of people who speak a different language from my own.

It's always good to revisit this anime. I remember it being one of the first times I saw a media (movie/series/etc) so intimate that it talked about things that I didn't have the words to describe yet. It should definitely get more recognition, I always try to recommend it to my friends.

The spin off wasn't shitty. It just wasn't what you expected.

hey if you wanna watch another of the iterations of the franchise and have it be decent, watch the 2005 one, NOT the 2012 one with CLAMP, that's the evil cousin the 2005 one is NOT perfect and is also kinda silly in some ways, but it is pretty entertaining and respects a lot of the attractive points of the movie

I think that those uncomfortable moments are what make this a great story, they try portrait real people, specially someone who is an adolecent, full of hormones. One has nothing to do but feel this akwardness, but Kondo is so mature and kind that it fades away.
