Honestly, as a beginner, wearing full protective gear is smart. I find that, as a beginner, it gives me the confidence to push myself to do things that are just beyond what I've already done. Without the gear, I don't think I would do that because I would be trying to play it safer. It's a confidence thing for me, too.

I'm okay looking like a beginner, because I am a beginner. And if someone else asks me I will say, "Hey, man, I'm definitely a beginner but I'm having so much fun! I hope to get better as I spend more time doing it!" You'll get so much more respect than trying to pretend you aren't a beginner.

I’m super glad I found long boarding at 37 thanks to my boyfriend that’s 24, because I’m too old to give a damn about what other people might think about me and what I do. I only focus on things I enjoy and I have so much fun! I don’t take myself as seriously as I would ten years ago
