Check Your Wheel Bearings! | I Found a Surprise During the First Maintenance on my Toy Hauler
Thank you for posting this video. We worked very hard over the years at this site to make this a great tribute to Mike, as well as the X-15 itself, and all the others who made it happen. We never envisioned that the original monument created by Eagle Scout John Bodylski would turn into what it has today. We are still making small changes at the site. The next major upgrade will be a new entrance sign that should be in place within the next couple of months.
@@x15galmichelleevans thanks for your efforts at the site, it really is an incredible place to visit. I stopped by a second time a few months ago and it feels even more special after digging into the history of the X-15 program. I hope I did the sight justice with the video, you never know how a video like this will be received. I’ll be honest, I kind of like that the road to see it is sort of difficult to find, for me that’s part of what makes it special. Although I’m sure having better signage will bring more people to see it.
@@goodjerm Yes, your video did an excellent job, and it is greatly appreciated. Even though the site was first dedicated in 2004, it is only in the last couple of years that we have started to have problems that have cropped up, mainly because of birds. Just a few weeks ago the metal flag was moved away from the display area as birds were using it to make a mess of everything. The entrance sign we are replacing is right at the entrance to the site, and not out on Trona Road itself. It was decided not to put a sign directly on the road as it might attract people to the site that we would rather not be there. We have had excellent help from OHV people and many others to keep the site clean and protected over the years. Unfortunately, the current wooden sign is falling apart, so that is what we are replacing. I designed the new sign, and it is currently being printed, so that we can install in maybe in September. Thank you for your interest in the X-15, and in Mike Adams. If you ever wish to read more about the X-15, please check out my book on the aircraft and all the amazing people involved with the program: "The X-15 Rocket Plane, Flying the First Wings into Space." I have a huge section of my website devoted to the X-15, and one of the things I created is a special tour itinerary where people can locate many sites connected to the X-15. It extends from the site near Los Angeles International Airport where the X-15 was manufactured, all the way up to Ely, Nevada, at the furthest radar site used in the program. The tour is called "In the Footsteps of the X-15" and is available for free download on my site Mach25Media (dot) com.
If you remove the seat you will see the engine oil fill cap is on top of the engine!
I enjoy your videos, keep it up. Great comments and some history mixed in is a nice touch👍 I just got a 2023 Sportsman trail, happy so far!
@@jonaseriksson2877 thanks for the encouragement and congratulations on the new quad!
Well I did it!.. I took off the whole bumper cover and left the wheel well liners attached.. I tried to get in there without taking the cover off but I'm up in Canada and the bolts were a little rusty and I just decided that wasn't the way to go.. once I made up my mind it really didn't take that long .. I followed your instructions so thank you so much for the details about how to separate the bumper cover from around the headlights and the other details👍🇨🇦✌🍻
@@calvinpochinko4277 good to hear and great job! I tried to leave it on too but decided to just take it off and save some frustration.
Yes do not tighten the front control arm bolt until the suspension is at ride height and the easiest way to do that is put a jack underneath the ball joint and jack it up... good video I'm going to try and do it with the bumper on
@@calvinpochinko4277 excellent advice, and be sure to tighten those bolts before putting the front subframe bits back on, they get in the way of the control are bolts b
Excellent work sir☺️👍
Your channel is extremely underrated. Your overall quality and presentation is absolutely top notch😎👍
Man! That's a big ole rig! Being an old trucker, I can tell you this. Properly maintained, Diesel engines will run a VERY long time!
I just sold my excursion with the 7.3 powerstroke, she had 354,000 miles and still strong!
Nice ranch! I lived in Utah for many years, and really do miss the dry climate out west.
LOVE trail rides! Here in Eastern Kentucky, I love to get out and drive across the forest trails of Red River gorge and Natural Bridge.
Why doesn't your channel have more subscribers? I guess, being an old fart, I like old fart reviews. LOL! Also, being an old fart, I'm not as spry as I used to be, went to replace the brake pads and rotors yesterday on my Outback, and while the rotors were in good shape, I was going to replace them anyway, because I already purchased them... Well, I couldn't get the dang caliper carriage bolts loose! Anyway, like I said, the rotors are in fantastic shape, so they'll last until the next time I replace the pads. In the meantime, I thought I'd take the $200 I saved in returning the rotors, and get an impact wrench. No, I'm not going to spend $300 on a tool I might use once every couple years, but $100 is very doable. I first went to Amazon, and started looking at their selection. Once I found a couple that looked nice, I 100% ignored the Amazon reviews, and searched the name on CZcams, LOL! Yes, the into was a little long in the tooth, oh well, LOL! I've watched a few videos on this tool, and I have to say, I'm impressed. Now, if I were the neighborhood "Go-To" shade tree mechanic, I'd already have a $300 unit. But I'm an old fart, who wants to do the work on my own car, because: #1 I don't trust shops. #2 I can save a lot of money on labor. #3 There is no #3... When you took the lugs off the truck, I tapped my noggin, and said to myself, "Yep! Gonna get me one..." LOL!
@@KentuckyRanger man I am trying my hardest to build the channel, I know it takes time and I’m just trying to continue to do things that I like (which I’m sure slows the growth, but at least I’m happy). I have actually used the alloyman on the road when I had a blowout on my toy hauler and even though this one was free since it was sponsored, I would have been more than happy to have paid $100 for it to keep in the truck. Made that tire change super easy and fast on the side of the road. Thanks for watching and also for your kind comments. More to come…
Personally, i would have installed the bushings first, then install the sleeve 🤷♂️

Hi, you should explain something to me. Do you always drive with 2x and only switch to 4x in difficult sections? Isn't 4xH better on dirt roads and 4xL in very difficult areas? It seems to me that you go a lot in 2xH. I hope I have explained myself. How do you travel the paths? Hello and thanks
You are correct. Mostly in 2x unless 4x is actually needed for difficult areas. The reason is that in 4xH it makes the steering a little heavier and at speed that can be actually more difficult to control. Also, in 4xH you can’t “steer with the throttle”, there is too much traction. I use 4xL when the terrain is difficult or I have go much slower. That saves wear and tear on the drive belt. These atv’s can do a lot in 2x very easily, especially with good tires.
@@goodjerm thanks, you know I have to learn, no one teaches me, I'm looking closely at your videos but... you never show the monitor and I don't know what traction you're using. hello continue at the end of June I will wear the flag and the shirt

@@goodjerm thank you
22:05 that was a lie.
Very nice instruction video. Bought the MX4 for my new 2023 Tacoma. When it arrived I noticed they changed the design of the attachments for the worse. The old design was an easier install that allowed for the Toyota accessory rail to be lowered by an inch and still fully utilized. The new design attaches directly to the rail and is more complex to affix to the rails. It is good to see a video on the new design particularly the clamps that lock down the cover to the truck. I was sending it back, but I may try to install now that I have some clarity. Thanks. J
Rita’s cabin is definitely a great place to camp been there several times. And it is most definitely in Death Valley along with Rogers Pass and Middle Park. Really wish people would respect the rules. This is how trails get shut down and gated
In all your travels of the hills, what is this place?? 36°12'25"N 117°43'17"W
😮ok what the hell is that? I can’t find any info on that location, but I do know that Coso peak and the surrounding area is within the boundaries of the China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station. So I’m thinking it’s something maybe related to that… maybe? Idk but it looks creepy as hell.
@@goodjerm Thanks, like watching your You Tube!!!
I didn’t know you could ride ATV’s in Death Valley. Thought that was illegal.
We are acutely on the western side of Death Valley on BLM land (except for the very top of the mountain).
Middle Park is in Death Valley
sometimes you should take the monitor again so we can see how you are doing with 2 or 4 wheels with or without reductions. you know I'm translating everything with Google!

Thanks a ton for this video. First service on my wife’s 570 was much smoother thanks to your video. I didn’t have a ball end Allen wrench and that was the key to getting that gear oil fill bolt out!
On the other 570 with the winch I had to remove the winch and bumper to get to it. Still not bad though. Glad you found it useful, thanks for watching and commenting!
I have a jeep cherokee, and when i am either stopped, or going 0-10mph, if i turn left and right i can hear a clunking noise, do you think this could be the control arm bushings?
Could be. Also could be the upper strut mounts which also wear out quickly on these.
Yes I'm still having the problem, getting the upper strut mounts changed soon so hopefully that will sort it out
Excellent tips and things to watch out for. Do you have a link for the RV steps you had the dealer install?
These are the steps we had installed at the dealer. We’re thinking about getting another set for the other door someday. a.co/d/gSRjEmL

Man you keep your ATV's CLEAN!!! I'm proud, that's how I like to keep most of my stuff too. Unfortunately, here in Michigan, most our trails have the "Sticky" mud puddles on them, and it is impossible to keep every nook and cranny clean! I used to have a 2006 Polaris Hawkeye 300 for my son, it was a great midsize machine! He now has moved up to a Sportsman 570 🙂 Those LMNT drinks are a little on the salty side if you're not used to them. You're drinking the worst flavor for those canned ones, the Black cherry lime are the best! I got my free samples last week 🙂 I mostly use the Chocolate flavor packets for my coffee, that and a little half/half= awesome! Polaris has come a long way since those earlier sportsman's, the newer(2009-24) XP chassis Sportsman (550,850,1000) are way easier to service!!
Man I hate mud, I will do almost anything to avoid it. We found some mud from a dry lake bed a few months ago and it took hours to clean all of the quads. We love our 570s, they are perfect for us. Hope you had a good weekend, c-ya later!
This weird star bolt heads are called “E” - damn things are also used on Mercedes a lot. I think that one is a E 20.
I can’t get past the nonsense to watch……..
nice interesting, if I understand correctly it's your birthday in a few weeks? Best wishes from me. HI
Did you say it says brushless on it or gutless on it?
Not and even test air to a tool is a lot stronger
Generally I agree. Just showing a good option for the dude that maybe doesn’t have an air compressor or needs to be more mobile. I will always love my air tools.
Absolute JUNK ran a half dozen times switch pissea air in off position till empty Won’t start now just hums
Can this unit operate layed down? Does it have to stay upright at all times?
Well that’s a good question and I honestly have no idea. I cannot find anything in the instructions saying it must remain upright and the pump is oil-less so…. Read into that what you will.
😮
So what do you do when your coming down a steep grade and you use low 4x4 and it lets go of all your traction in to a power slide! Out of control. I now use high gear and feather the throttle to stop the power slide. But what else can you do? IM riding an 04 500 ho.
Without descent control that’s exactly what you have to do. On those older quads I keep just enough throttle to keep the clutch engaged along with the brakes.
@@goodjerm it took. Me by surprise the first time on shale rock going down steep grade. Lucky I didn’t get hurt but wow what a ride. I’m experienced dirt biker and I had the luck to ride it out.
Ford piece of Shit!….
