Hobby Boss I 1/32 Republic F-84E Thunderjet I Full Video Build I
This is a full video build of the Hobby Boss F-84E Thunderjet.
This is a long video, in fact it's the longest on my channel. It could have been longer as I've cut quite a bit out.... you have been warned.

Long time no see! Apologies for taking so long to bring you my latest build vid. The @OfficialAirfix Stuka on the face on it is an excellent model kit but as the video shows, I had real trouble with the wing assembly. I would be interested if anyone else had this issue. Anyway, apart from that its a nice kit, quite complicated though. I wouldn't recommend this for a beginner, this kit is for an...

Eduard 1/48 I Westland Lysander MkIII I Full Build I
zhlédnutí 15KPřed 10 měsíci
Welcome to my video build of Eduard's Westland Lysander. This is a re-box of the Gavia kit from 2001, this boxing was issued around 2011. It does look very early Eduard, so you make up your own mind if Eduard was behind this all along. No real vices but care has to be taken as its showing its age somewhat. Its currently the only 1/48 scale kit of this really important and unusual aeroplane.

Putting aerial wire on spoils the kit as it scales up like an anchor chain and we know how anal some modellers are about things not to scale. I've got this kit to build but will probably leave it untouched in the box where my attempt will look as good as the best modellers in the world before they start
Fair point regarding the aerial wire Paul. Don’t leave it all boxed up mate, it is a little tricky but not that bad as long as you take your time. Get it built, you know it make sense…
Excellent video
Cheers @ath 👍
Old kit it looks great but hard to come by here in Ireland
It really does need an update or reboot. Best of luck finding one ath 👍
If you sand the side of the photoetch you are glueing to the model you wont have to worry about it pinging off. Sanding with 220 or 320 grit give the superglue something to bite into rather than a smooth piece. I have to say that is an absolutely beautiful finished model. Well done. Those markings came out perfect! I like the more vibrant colors for the markings, and that AK extreme metal looks fantastic. I have been using the Alclad paints for my metalics, but I have not done a full metalic finish yet. I picked up the Zotz decal set for the F84G but I think I will grab a mask set for my insignia too. I liked the narration style. You earned yourself a subscriber!
Top comment MF 🤣. I don’t like working with photoetch, you may have noticed, but yes a quick rough up is good. I’m glad I didn’t use the main decals as they were quite brittle, I struggled a lot with the stencils. Having said all this, it’s still a lovely kit. Cheers mate 🍻👌
@@TimsScaleModelling It looked like it went together well, so I am excited to start mine.
Let us know how you get on
Great work!😊 I wonder if Kotare will try to release any of the wing nut kits again. Those molds must be an idle asset for somebody...
You’d think JC. They’ll appear sometime. Thanks mate
Hi Tim - any chance you could kill the music while you are talking as it's difficult to hear what you are saying.
Yes Mike. Going forward I think I will. Having said that tho, you’d have to listen to me instead!! 😳
@@TimsScaleModelling Thanks - listening to your narrative and watching you work is what it's all about 👍
Fair enough 🫠😄
Absolutely beautiful Tim. On the back of this build; I’ve just gone and bought one!
You haven’t Les??!! Hahaha top lad.. It’s actually a great kit. If you find some late war US belts, I think they’d be fine. Airscale early jet instrument decals as well. I should’ve used these myself.
Les, discount my last comments about belts etc. I got mixed up with other vid/comment. The Kotare Spit is a beautiful model kit. Undercarriage is very tight and the belts are a bit 🥴. I will be definitely getting the MkVb when/if it gets released (I think it will)
Impressive job there, Tim....what a monster and so beautiful at the same time. I like the way you interspersed the music and speaking...the 47.00 disappeared before I knew it and the final reveal was marvellous. Given the success, will you be thinking maybe another 1/32 might be in the offing in the future??
Ah that’s great Robbo, I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’ve just started a little CA Vampire for my Facebook page but after that..? Maybe..
Sorry - had to turn the video off after 10 minutes due to the extremely annoying “music”.
Awesome as usual Tim ❤
I always find Montex masks don’t fit and are usually short / small. Also find they lose adhesion and regularly come away. Eduard masks are always my preference and generally are much better.
Yes Phil you’re quite right but Eduard masks ain’t perfect by any means. CT on EBay are the best I’ve used.
Beautiful build!!! I love your work!!!!
Very kind Mr 😊
Cool 🛩 I'm a new Subscriber on your channel.
Absolutely fantastic build!
Thank you so much Alc
It's really good to see you back on the bench Tim. Great video as always cheers take care.
Great video Tim! Glad I found your channel and subscribed. I agree with you that by having everything opened on an aircraft it takes away from the overall look of it. I can see why people do it, because we all love seeing lots & lots of detail in miniature. I personally may build a few with open panels and such, but only if the aircraft will be part of a diorama.
Exactly that Ken, totally agree with you. Thanks mate
Finished build looks fantastic! I personally like a video with narration in so I'd say keep it up.
Thanks Dan, yeah it’s something I’m going to build on… ditch the tunes.
Lovely build, Tim.
Thanks Sprue
So glad you did this kit. One thing about seatbelts. USAF cockpits from.the late 40s thru to around 55 were pretty much the same. You could get P80, T33, or F86 seatbelts and they would do the job. I'll add this because it wasn't clearly written. The cockpit weren't the same but the seat harness was. Lol
Ah thanks Will..
Pretty cool to see an F-84 with the 9th fighter squadron emblem, I had a friend who was in the 9th as a crew chief on the F-117. You did an excellent job on this F-84 kit!
Thanks Max. I bet your mate has some great pics of this time in service
Intriguing aircraft, as you say. Straight wings and vertical tail, heavy framing on the canopy makes it look like a prop plane- but it’s got a jet engine! I enjoyed your build but as one or two others have mentioned the music was a bit dominant over some of the narration.
I didn’t realise the F84 was a development of the P47!! Thanks for the comment Ian
Hats off to you Tim. You nailed that. Stunning looking finish!
Thank you Alan.. a couple more silver birds then I’m done with them 😂
Nice build and video, but agree - the music is unnecessary and quite jarring.
Hi Nazza… point taken mate 👍
Extremely impressive! If you put this on a scale runway and told me it was real I wouldn't question it for a second.
If I had room or was going to shows, I would knock up a base for it Scale… many thanks for the comment 😊
Very nice kit build F-84E Thunderjet love jets.
That's a beauty
Ah, there you are! Nice to see you again..... Personally, I've always thought the Thunderjet an ungainly looking aircraft and youve caught the essence of that perfectly. That's not meant as a back-handed compliment..... that's a terrific build! 👏🏻👌🏻👍🏻
Ha Septic! I’m about mate but getting vids out isn’t as easy as it was.. cheers bud
@@TimsScaleModelling As and when, guv'nor.......as and when.
Great build but the background music spoiled the video 😢.
Beautiful build. What a stunner. I must use masks soon. They look fantastic.
Cheers Pete… yep, I’m converted. I can’t say I’ll use masks on every build but defo will using them more.
As a Korean war enthusiast I've built nearly every single aircraft from the UN side in 1/72. You've done a terrific job on that kit!
I’m only slightly interested in Korea, it’s the prop/jet crossover that’s get me. Cheers Jake
Narration was very good, however in bits where the music and the narration were both on the music was a bit loud and made it difficult to hear you sometimes. Great build though and good to see you back
Cheers Ian. Yeah… iMovie usually auto edits speech and music. Usually. I did have manually edit some parts, looks like I missed some more.
lovely. Clean and "golden". Subbed.
Thank you Martin
Great build ! I really enjoyed viewing your channel. New sub. In my line up ..✌🏻🇨🇦✌🏻
Nice one James…. Top man 😎
1/32 is the only scale for me. It like once you build a 1/200 battleship you can't go back to 1/350. Is there an option to build and show the engine? That's the big plus of the tamiya kit. Looks great!
Nice building video of this classical 72nd scale gem!
Wow what detail nice.😊
Watch here in Detroit, bang up job LIMEY
Cheers Yankee 🤣
Очень интересное видео...и все хорошо показано!Автору лайк!!🎉
That turned out well!
Not bad Simon, thanks mate
Bloody hell!!!! That is simply fantastic
Hahaha thanks Les.. I couldn’t/wouldn’t build it again mind
Nice
Hi there, great job1 What trumpeter serial timer is the kit???
Cheers Steve. I think it is 02294
David R Lentz, Columbus, Ohio, USA Well, Tim, you certainly made an excellent job of it. Appropriately subtle in application, yet eminently effective in appearance. Perhaps you next might create an airborne diorama dramatising the USMC aviator Lt. “Bob” Klingman on high-altitude patrol in his Chance Vought F4U-1D Corsair Fighter (Tamiya also offers the perfect kit for that part of the job!), in the struggle to intercept at very high altitude a Mitsubishi Ki-46 Imperial Japanese Army Type 100 twin-engine command reconnaissance aircraft, Allied brevity code name “Dinah.” Because all six of the bent-winged warbird’s M2 Browning .50-caliber machine guns had frozen for the bitter cold of high altitude, he resorted to using just the propeller of his aircraft to buzz-saw off the rudder of his dodgy enemy, abruptly sending the nosy sod out of control, to plunge into the roiling seas just off the coast of his island base (sources: “Marine Corps pilot Robert ‘Bob’ Klingman took down enemy using his propeller”, By Team Mighty [We Are The Mighty, Military News posted Wednesday, 8 February, 2023, 7:16 a.m. PST]; Wikipedia: Mitsubishi Ki-46 IJA Type 100 twin-engine scout aircraft).
Beautiful. The first aircraft i worked on as an aircraft tech. back in the day.😊
Thank you mate. I’d loved to have had your job..
Teacher’s don’t want to teach anymore because the ill discipline children at the cost of children who do want to learn that’s why they are leaving in droves
16:30 just cut this snake in 2-3 smaller pieces and then adjust em on surface. this really helps with big decals. in general, when you have L, cut it to I and _ its much easier to put em back together(I + _ = L) than to struggle with one piece
I flew this aircraft as part of my National Service pilot training 1951-1953, moving on from single engine (Chipmunks) to Airspeed Oxfords for asymetrc flying. We flew them solo (RAF Dalcross. Inverness) in preparation for our conversion to Meteors (which I failed). My memory was that in no circumcstanaces were we to get into a spin, as this aircraft could not recover. The escape hatch was in the roof towards the rear of the fuselage. You were supposed to get out of you seat and climb to the back with the aid of a rope along the ceiling. In short, pretty well zero chance! I survived and will shortly reach my 91st birthday.
That’s fantastic information Edward, this is exactly why I do this. Oxfords to Meteors??!! Wow bit of a jump.. Thank you so much for sharing and happy birthday 🥳
Happy birthday
This is the nicest build of this kit I've seen and going to go with you and Kotare on this one that the bluish code letters are probably correct.
Lovely job. Very helpful. Just started my kit.
Thanks Tony, best of luck
