Murmuration is the collective noun for starlings, but it's also the name for their mesmerizing flight. I am often inspired by nature, so it's not surprising that I designed a knit shawl inspired by this magical sight. As I was driving to find a location to photograph the shawl, I happened to spot this murmuration. How serendipitous! I'd love for you to check out my Murmuration pattern! payhip.c...
Corner-to-Corner (C2C) Crochet Technique
zhlédnutí 135Před 3 lety
This video shows the basic corner-to-corner (C2C) crochet technique. C2C lends itself nicely to pixelated designs, but that means there can be a lot of ends to weave in. I’ve come up with rules for whether to carry or cut the yarn in order to minimize the finishing later on. Then, I show how to work decreases to finish the other half of your rectangle. I’ve designed this Heartshine pattern (lin...
Bronwyn's Kfbf Bind-Off
zhlédnutí 648Před 5 lety
I don't know if I've invented this bind-off or just "unvented" it. Regardless, it creates a simple edge for a shawl. The bind-off does tend to frill and flare a little due to the tripling of stitches along the edge, so it isn't suitable for all projects. It also uses quite a bit more yarn than a traditional bind-off, again, because of the increase in stitches. As you approach the end of your ba...

Incredibly clear and helpful. Thanks 🎉
Thanks! I'm happy I could help!
Thank you for the clear instructions. I have watched plenty of videos on how to do this technique and have never been successful until now.
Yea! That's so great to hear! Thanks for letting me know!
The only problem I have with this stitch is the giant hole that’s left over after you work those three stitches. Is there a way to get rid of it?
I think most designers see the giant hole as a feature. 😉It's usually there for a reason--often as part of a lace pattern or a stretchy-ish edge for a shawl. A kfbf would be a more closed increase, but it will be a little lumpy and still visible in stockinette. (Slipping the last st "f" rather than knitting it will smooth it out a little.) A (yo, k1, yo) where you purl the yarnovers through the back on the WS will increase 2 and close up the holes. Using a backwards loop-type of m1 will give the same effect as the "yokyo" without having to ptbl on the WS row: (m1, k1, m1). Either of those two options will have visible twisted sts, but the holes will be mostly closed. Any time you change the increases, you'll want to be mindful of what comes before and after the kyok in the pattern. You wouldn't want the alternative increase to interfere with any yarnovers or other sts next to it.
Awesome video. This was my first attempt at an I cord bind off. Your instructions were very clear, shown slow enough that I could follow along and,so complete including the grafting at the end. So happy I found this video.😊
Glad it helped! Thanks so much!
I adore this tutorial. Thank you so much! ❤
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you, this is exactly what I was looking for to make a neater edge for a scarf.
Yea! I love to hear that! I'm so glad I could help!
Great tutorial, thank you!!!
Thanks! I'm glad I could help!
Best instructional video on the Internet demonstrating this BO in the round all the way through to grafting the last few stitches and weaving in the ends. Beautifully executed, explained, and filmed in a way that is easy to follow and see... the contrasting colors are a definite plus! Other vids were hard to follow, with distracted, meandering dialogue, fuzzy or hard to see filming, or were filmed without any instructional dialogue whatsoever and/or with loud, distracting music. Thank you for making a vid that made learning this daunting technique so easy... it turned what promised to be a frustrating, dispiriting endeavor into a pleasant venture with delightful results. 🙏👍🏆🧶❤️
This was my first I-cord edge, and the pattern didn't give clear instructions how to finish. Thank you for this video tutorial!!
I'm happy I was able to fill in the gap!
Very good video. My first time to use I cord bind off. Really appreciated the step by step for the last 3 stitches
I'm so happy you found me! Glad I could help!
Thanks!,,,,❤❤❤❤

Well done! Very nice looking nupps!!! I’m sure your video will help my nupps look better. Thank you Bronwyn.
Thanks, Mary! I hope it helps!
THANK YOU!!!!! So helpful!

Lovely! Thanks for sharing! And love the scissors!!!❤
Thanks!😁
Great video, thank you very much. So glad you demonstrated using the throw method.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll keep that in mind as I make new videos.
Thank you (again - as I seem to thumbed-up this video before!). Refresher course of the day :)
Haha! Glad I could help again! It sounds like it would be a good idea to save this video to your playlist. Then you can come back to it easily next time.
Brilliant ❤thank you ❤
Thanks!
Awesome! Thank you!
Thanks! Happy to help!
Really easy to follow! Thank you for a great tutorial! I just finished my I-cord BO neckline, so beautifully thanks to this video 🤗
That's fantastic! Great to hear it worked well for you!
Excellent instruction. Thank you for this video. I have added it to my saved knitting instruction folder.
Thanks so much!
thank you for this great tip. I am beading a shawl for the very first time.

Great tips!
Thanks!
Bronwyn, thanks so much for this video. BTW, I love your name. If I had a daughter, I was going to name her Bronwyn.
Thanks! I'm glad you liked the video. I can't take credit for my name, but I like it, too. 😉
Great video! Informative and very well done!
Thanks, Mary! 👋
I used the super floss method. Super idea, worked splendidly!! This was my first time adding beads and your tips mad it a breeze! Many thanks!!🙂
That's fantastic to hear! Thanks for letting me know!
Yes, this is “really cool”! Thanks for sharing
Glad you liked it! Thanks!
Best icord video out there! Thank you so much this allowed me to finish a sweater and I was stuck until I found this.
Thanks so much! Glad I could help!
This is really useful, thank you! I've just done my first i-cord cast off and this was really simple to follow - I would never have thought of taking off the other needle to stop it slipping!
So glad I could help!
What a perfect i-cord join at the end! Very clear video! Onward to my own, first i-cord in the round!
Thanks! Good luck to you! I'd love to see how it works out for you. If you share your project on social media, be sure to tag me. I'm @bronwyndp on Ravelry, Instagram, and Twitter.
Great instruction, thanks! The contrasting colors really help. However, it’s so frustrating when the work is off the top of the screen & I have to imagine what you’re doing😢Love your calm voice & approach tho😊
Yeah, sorry about that. It's hard to watch my knitting and the camera sometimes. I'm a professional knit designer, not videographer. 🤦♀️ But I'm glad I could help.
@@BronwyntheBraveDesigns I’ve subscribed so I’m looking forward to future videos. And thank you for replying so fast❗️
@@mommartinez2741 Fantastic! Thanks so much!
Great explanation! Thank you. I couldn’t understand the pattern instructions. You were a lifesaver.
Thanks! Yes, sometimes a video is so much easier to understand.
Thank you! I was so confused!
So happy I could help!
thanks this is brilliant and so helpful.
So glad! Thanks!
I was going to return three packets of beads to Amazon, as I was flummoxed as to how, using to crochet method, I’d add the beads to my knitted shawl. My crochet hook is too large, even though it’s tiny and I’m knitting in a thin mohair yarn. You dental floss solution was the first time I’d seen it, and it saved the project !
I'm so happy I could help! Yes, the crochet hooks needed for beading are insanely tiny! They aren't always easy to find, either. Happy knitting!
This video is brilliant! The super floss technique is a huge time saver. Thanks for sharing!
I wish I could take credit for coming up with the Superfloss technique, but I'm happy to spread the wealth! Thanks for watching!
What a beautifully clear way you have of explaining things. Thank you (even though I knew how already 😜)
Thanks! I really appreciate that!
What a clear and fun video and tutorial. You are very clear and easy to follow. Fabulous. 🌼
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much.
Thank you so much, throughout the whole video you explained everything so clearly and it was really helpful to see the bind off in a contrasting colour. Amazing video 💛
Glad it helped!
Absolutely brilliant thank you. I now feel confident to do l-cord bind off on the sleeves of my cardigan.
Wonderful!
amazing! thank you!
Sooooo helpful. Seeing how you cast on the left needle with the working yarn from the right made all the difference! Thank you.
Thank you so much! I used this information for finishing my gorgeous topdown pants.
Hi, thanks for this. Can I ask what size of crochet hook you were using here? Struggling to sort out the best size for my 6/0 beads!
I used a Size 11 (1.10 mm) steel hook with 6/0 beads on fingering weight yarn. FYI, steel hooks get smaller as the US size number increases.
@@BronwyntheBraveDesigns thanks so much! I actually watched on and discovered the Superfloss tip, which is GENIUS! I ran out and got some today!
@@lynnmiller4669 That's awesome! Good luck and have fun!
It's a perfect tutorial... so easy to understand and perfectly explained. Thank you 💕🙏
Very clear explanation. Thanks so much.
Very nice! I'll be using the closing up part very shortly.
Great video! I appreciate the explanation re: the difference between placing the bead before vs. after knitting the stitch. It’s easier, of course, to just place it before knitting, so I talked myself into believing that it really didn’t matter and that designers were just overly fussy people. Now I understand! The points of the diamonds really wouldn’t have looked right had you placed the beads before knitting the stitches. I was hoping that using the Superfloss would streamline things, but I think I still prefer the first method with the crochet hook. Questions: What pattern are you using? And what yarn? Gorgeous work!
Thanks! The pattern is Girl's Best Friend, designed by me. It is written in two sizes--one and two carats. :) You can find it on Ravelry (www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/girls-best-friend-6) and LoveCrafts (www.lovecrafts.com/en-us/p/girls-best-friend-knitting-pattern-by-bronwyn-hahn).
