This video is clearly show only to an extreme. The show veered drastically away from the books in season 5. That's why the writing went diwnhill. They still had two hole books to adapt and chose not to, opting instead to try ad add moments from the books completely out of context.

I think another series that does this (and far more intentionally and to a better degree) is the wheel of time. The main character is this messianic figure who is prophesized to not only save the world but completely destroy it as well. Most of the world is TERRIFIED of the dragon reborn and either try to kill him, use him, or cower in fear of him. Rand is constantly having an internal struggle over his power and influence and generally grows more forceful and less outwardly empathetic as the story goes on. His power is a burden that actively turns him into a scarier and scarier figure as he slowly loses his humble origins and absorbs the moniker of the dragon reborn.

Someone actually made a D&D stat block for Rattlesnake Jake. He's a Huge Monstrosity and considered "Chaotic Evil" in the stat block...personally as a fan of westerns I'd be more inclined to say that he's "Neutral Evil" or agree with you that he's "Lawful Evil" one of the two, sure he's evil but he's not going to go out of his way to kill someone he's not being paid to kill or the like and he's also not above turning on his employer the moment he's been turned on himself. It's a shame Rango really sailed under the radar, mine too to be honest and it's only through watching clips and seeing things about Jake that I've taken an interest in it now and might actually have to get my hands on a copy and watch it. It'd be interesting to see a follow up movie or one focused on Jake and how his legend came to be and how he got his start and became the person he is...though that would take away some of the mystique of the character but it's a right shame he only has about 15 minutes of screen time.

You said everything that needs to be said about Marina being objectified by the writer[s]. I just want to add, as someone who has been in love with the idea of throuples ever since I heard that polyamory is a thing, I really like the idea from the original script of Marina being in love with both Proteus and Sinbad. No, she shouldn't have been viewed as a prize to be won, THAT'S the sexist part, but I think that it was very ahead of its time for a woman to be "allowed" to be in love with two men at the same time. As a society, we view relationships and even crushes as limited to one person and ONE person only, which is dumb. Polyamory, whether it being a woman with multiple partners or all of them in a happy polycule, would solve so many toxic love triangles.

The analysis here will make me a better reader and viewer of stories... I'm not a writer, and I had honestly never thought of the project of carefully developing a "Villain Intro scene"... I can see the importance of "demonstrate, don't describe" (as opposed to "show, don't tell"), as a demonstration includes an IMMMEDIATE message and passive showing can be like video of your vacation. Also, former English teacher Stephen King has complained that over-explanation can give a reader a sense of control, so they don't feel fear. Sci-fi Grand Master Roger Zelazny has several experimental stories wherein he uses description-minimalism, so the reader has to actively participate in the color and vividness of the story... One of my favorite "villain intro scenes" is the vampire-reveal in From Dusk Till Dawn. I thought the two bank robbers were terrible villains, but they were useful against the merciless vampires.

Even as a kid I always viewed heroes that do not kill as naive, short sighted and often weak, without spine. "Like, stop him forever! Wtf are you doing? He's going to do it again!" And so on. And I don't need hero to be a butcher like Punisher but there is time and place for mercy, forgiveness and "doing things right".

One game I'm suprised you didn't mention is Undertale, since it really leans into what you're talking about in this video, especially in the No Mercy route. Toby goes out of his way to humanize all the monsters you fight through the game, and has actual consequences for killing, such as towns being completely abandoned. On top of that, your character is canonically able to just cone back after dying over and over again, with nobody but a few characters remembering the resets. Sans, for example, is aware of your ability to reset and knows he can only stall you. Imagine, everything you do could just be reset with no warning, and you don't even remember. That's exactly what the monsters of the Underground live with.

7:30 Dragons do not have an afterlife the way you think they do. They remain in their shell even after their body expires, that's why Alduin can resurrect them so easily. The Dovahkiin eating them and carrying their souls with them into their afterlife _is_ the afterlife of dragons.

You might really like a book series called Cradle by will wight, the main character is absolutely the villain in the eyes of many, and has many points in the book that show the 'enemies' perspective before they get obliterated by the MC, of which still tries to do good but is regarded as terrifying from and outside perspective even if the mc doesn't believe it. Will wights other books do explore these themes very well and uniquely imo and highly recommend if you enjoy reading fantasy.

12:42 I've always felt that this scene, while showcasing Miranda’s expertise, subtly mocks the occasional absurdity of the fashion world. The dress she’s putting together is visibly ugly, and the way the scene is shot suggests we should recognize its hideousness. I think the bottom line is while fashion is a big industry, nothing is that f-ing serious.

I have this simple theory of identity that states That jake holds dear to him the mythos of an old west, there he stands as a villain. And a rango comes into it as a mockery of a hero wich makes it a personal insult to jake in the first place. And when the "new world" comes and tries to stomp on them both, they simply got put on the same scale plate for a noment. When rango finally deserved his legend he became a hero that suits his antagonist as jake, but at the moment they together face the corruption and decay that tries to get rid not of them as individuals, but as a concept. So after mayor gets what he deserves rattlesnake goes away with respect and pride to the man that fits a role in his myth. Dunno my english is bad and i havent sleep all night so

The dragons in TES were tyrannical dictators and only hunted in Akavir to near extinction, in Skyrim they were killed mostly to prevent more enslavement of humanity. Keeping in mind the track that plays when you run into a dragon in Skyrim is actually the Dragonborn's track implying you are are just a wandering world boss that the dragons have to live in fear of.

dude i think you are looking too much into it with the nathan drake thing. there is such a thing called gameplay story segregation. the numerous enemies were done gor gameplay. in the actual story there wouldnt be that many. also in skyrim, if i think some items belong to an npc like money or food i dont take it. even if it is not marked owned. i didnt join the dark brotherhood in my first playthrough. i try to think of the instory consequences of my actions. hell if i had the option i would say, "no thanks you can keep the cash reward, im just helping out. and you look like you need it more than i do." i absolutely play a good guy in my games if i can. and i sure as hell did not kill parthanux. just becuse someone is capable of doing something does not mean they will actually do it. im a human, i have two arms and two legs. i could get a gun, break into someone's home, rob them and kill them. even if there were no consequences to these actions i would not do it because i have empathy and morals. just because the dragon born is capable of doing terrible thing, does not mean they will. you are assuming they will because they can. stop doing that. its really annoying. to me a game is most fun, when i have great power and am able to use it to affect positive change in the world around the player character. nothing is more fun than that. also i like oblivion better because you are just a normal person when starting out. not the chosen one.
