Did Riverside become Sears point?
I sure miss Bob Varsha’s commentary in Formula one these days! He and David Hobbs, along with the great John Bisignano, were my favorites!
At 08:40 during the start crash slow-mo, a piece of debris--must be from a car--flies over the safety/catch fence and into the crowd. It lands out-of-frame. Per Sports Illustrated archived article, 14 spectators were hit by debris, with one hospitalized for a short time. Lucky. If you haven't seen "The Deadliest Crash" about Le Mans 1955, it's on YT. Horrible accident; the 55-minute film is a superb study of 1950's racing technology, strategy, and of accepted risk...for the drivers, at least.
Bring these sounds back!!!! These are what you call race cars. Just think if aco didn’t change their GT1 rules you would have seen the tvr speed 12. I got to see it in British GT 7.7L V12❤
A decent money day for team petty. They didn't wreck any cars.
I grew up watching Bud Lindeman shows,no matter what anyone says about him "at least he had the balls to make these shows" Great footage!! Sure ABC wide world of sports did their segments too...
Amazing the cars all looked different imagine that. I loved that racing.
What hell happen to speed vision ahh
The back ward j turn
Large GM cars of the ‘70s always had great brakes.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard the word “nonplussed” used in a spoken sentence.
I grew up not far from Langhorn speedway. It was a great place. Trenton was not far away.
E s p n showing how stupid they are bud lingerman was awesome
Back when cars were made out of steel not plastic junk like today
Keno

Pedro Rodriquez and Mario Andretti In the same race ? That was always great to see
I was at this race as a kid, great memories.
Isnt Dave the guitarist for MEGADEATH?
I have a bone stock 1971 Runner with a pistol grip and a 383 Magnum. It only goes 167 mph before the valves float. Oh Plumb Crazy with white interior. Woof I love to drive this car.
Money always trump racist
Loved watching these as a child, lots of lead changes and attrition.

Did the mechanic passenger see Turnupseed's blinker on? If Turnupseed did not turn on his blinker he caused the accident.
No stages, no competition yellows just real racing. And each manufacturer had its own look. We had it great in the days before……
Totally disagree with that intro monolog, Bud does a outstanding job! Totaly timeless! When men where men,!'
H.O.F. belongs in Daytona!!!
I was at Riverside for that race in 1973! They had the first IROC race that day too! I was at Turn 6 and Jackie Oliver in the UOP Shadow spun out right in front of me.
To this day, Bill Vukovich is the only driver to lead the most laps in the Indianapolis 500 three straight years. In his 5 years of running the 500 he led 485 laps of which he led none his first year which equates to him leading an astounding 71.1% of the laps he ran in his short career there. The year he was killed he led 50 of the 56 laps he completed. I grew up in Fresno and this was a beautiful tribute to him. My parents and brother are buried in the same cemetary as Bill and Billy III and whenever I visit them I always make a side trip to also pay my respects to Bill Vukovich and Billy III. My heart goes out to Bill Jr and all his siblings. Rest in Peace Bill and Billy III.
Love to see some of these cars made into 1/18 th scale diecast
Hey that's my uncle! I can't believe I just now stumbled on this! 🤘
Auto Racing was supporting the Military and our Troops back when it wasnt popular.
Wow need an exorcist here ..
The way Samantha Brown had me in a chokehold as a kid. 😅 I used to love to watch her on the travel channel. ❤
He got some sense knocked into him.
I took a picture that day of David Peirson waiting to get into the track along with the spectators, his car was on a trailer behind his pickup truck, no fancy haulers back then and no super heros like today
Umm this track was deadly cluldbt see far ahrad of you cause of the shape alot of drivers dies and hurt at this yrack only track andretti said that scared him
Back when people had BALLS
Back when TV was really real and it's from the south
Last of the good automobiles!
What an adorable woman.
Paul Newman made a movie abt auto racing in 1969.....titled "WINNING"....... 4☆☆☆☆.....must see ....Thx
That muisc open with the devil need a ride.
9:58 Richard Petty made that joke.
The Thomas Flyer also competed in the 1986 Great American Race and was driven by Ginni Withers. The car has some serious provenance.
It's amazing watching this interview and Chris talking about needing American drivers in Indycar. All these years later nothing has changed.
WOW!!! ... That Was Fun To Watch!!! 😍
The squealing tire sound effects used to scare me.
I hope eventually all Wind Tunnel episodes get uploaded! Sadly, it was after the VCR era, and they were erased off people’s DVR’s
This accident happened the year before I was born. I'm just know studying the details. One thing that I haven't heard mentioned is the fact that turnipseed wasn't expecting Deans car to be going so fast and so thought he had plenty of time to turn in front of him. Its a mistake anyone could make. Its very difficult to judge a vehicles speed by looking at it head on. I don't blame turnipseed in the least.
